This was a very sensitive and controversial song especially at the time of its release. The then political bigwigs in the UPC government blew steam out of their nostrils...because its poetic message rhymed well with the ongoing Museveni bush war. I met a daughter of this late legend at my church congregation. Amazingly, she was lead tenor in the church choir. I was saddened when she told us she never saw her father.....both have such wonderful voices!😊

Someone here tells me that the "empologoma ekaaba" was a reference to the tyrannical Obote and UPC. And that "owebweru" is the foreigner who fought it off. Or rather who took over.
Reminds me of the mid 1980s while at MUK when the NRA took over power in Uganda. We used to listen to this song and interpreted its meaning to different fighters.
I have heard of tales that the song is a critique of Obote II and praising Museveni's bush heroics at the time. Beyond that, I have failed to break down the lyrics' meaning. Anyone ready to help me out?
