Best preachers I've ever heard use notes. No hate at all.
I'm curious to know did the preacher use notes for the entire sermon? Or we're there points where he/she preached from the heart.
@@melroyel2235 Using notes (or even a full manuscript) is in no way contradictory to preaching "from the heart." To believe it is is to deny the work of the Spirit in the pastor's study.
I also find it easier to preach with notes
I know the late Dr. Charles Stanley and Dr. David Jeremiah are two great examples of note users…

My grandfather had notes. He would reference them at the beginning of the sermon but as the spirit lead him, and as he began to stood on one leg ( his signature), he wouldn’t use them at all.
One person speaking is not a debate.
When you’re preaching/ teaching, it is def ok to have notes. When you’re reading the notes word for word, then that’s a different topic.

Where in the Bible does it say a preacher cannot use notes? Concentrate on the message, and not whether someone is using notes.

Bought the book “preaching without notes” because of your recommendation, thank you. Just got it from the mail and I’m excited to read it
No shade man, But there are several fallacies in your argument here. Sure, no one uses notes for random interpersonal debates but in organized debates people do use notes. Sermons shouldn't be random thoughts but organized arguments. Some people use notes to help them communicate their arguments better and some people don't need to. There also are plenty of preachers who should but don't lol. It's all up to that individual. One of the best preachers in the world is William Curtis and he uses a manuscript.
Topical sermons can all be done without notes. How about expository sermons, with multiple scriptural references?

Great pointers!
Jonathan Edwards started revival with his preaching and he preached from a full manuscript. He in fact even read it sometimes. To insinuate that God can only use preaching that was without notes is man-centered preaching, and not Word centered. Power-houses of the faith from the past have used notes in their preaching.

Notes are a good thing so you don't say something wrong or accidently be misleading.... nothing wrong with notes. some of the greatest preachers still use notes... I'd be careful

A sermon is NOT a debate.
This is a really big oversimplification! I think all this depends the preachers style. I definitely take a full manuscript to the pulpit; however I am not tied to it like I’m reading a book. It does allow me to stay on task and be sure to give my scriptural references. By the way, presenting God’s Word to the people is not akin to a debate, it is proclamation of His truths! God bless

You can absolutely PREACH without notes. However TEACHING while PREACHING demands and requires the intentional gravitas associated with a written manuscript. Homectical prowess should never trump Hermeneutical integrity. Take notes during your sermon prep and read them out loud.

I'm not interested in hearing from yours or anybodies else heart! I only want to hear a message from the Word of God for it is the only true source for the training and equipping of the saint for all of life and Godliness. Plus you should be ashamed of yourself for putting undo burdens on your students of whom are not qualified to preach as of yet. You toon the guys notes. So i guess John should have memorized what Jesus was telling him on the isle of Patmos? Your approach was wrong just because that works for you doesn't mean thats how God will work for everyone. Of he develops the habit of writing manuscripts he will over time know how to preach from the heart but use his notes as a guide.
HE IS OFF OFF and OFF The Holy scriptures. Jesus open up the scrolls and read the Scriptures that pointed to him., which are the notes of the living God bless you❤PERIOD
