I think taxis from West Bengal are not allowed to enter Sikkim and Vice versa except some special number plate like SK 02 or SK03. Tourists have to change their cabs in between.

Hi Chandrika, it’s always a good decision to acclimatise when you’re travelling to such great heights, specially during the winter season. Even more than Tsomgo lake, so so for Gurudongmar Lake.
Sikkim is an excellent place to visit. Lush green peaks of mountains and pin drop silence everywhere, added with fresh air. But the worst point is tour and travel agents. Travelling cost is very high. Maximum Drivers are so rude and notorious that your entire trip may go into vain. You should plan your trip,If you have your own vehicle otherwise you will feel cheated by their rude behaviour. They do as per their own wish and adamant to their own plans. You can not even change your route or stops. From my point of view, you must change your trip to some other north east state rather than sikkim
