    The reason for the photo is that is where the colors came from, just a random photo that was color matched. You can do this yourself with any photo you like, free, online. The code is the hex code (short for hexidecimal) for that individual hue. If you take that code and pop it in a paint mixing machine (or computer program) you get that color. It represents how much of each primary hue, plus white or black, is required to make it. It's basically like latitude and longitude for colors, so everyone can understand exactly what color is referenced no matter their language. There are a few different color codes used worldwide, hex is one of them. Others are HTML, RGB, CMYK, Pantone, etc.

    I have the digital version and cubes. I select my pallet on the digital version and then pick my card. I like having the physical card. She also has companion pdf for most popular pencil brands. I have that too and find it pretty close but like you said, you get to decide which colours you use.

      I am tempted to try the digital version too, I am glad to hear that you use it together with the cards.

    I bought SRC'S entire set as they came out. Saves so much time and distraction looking online for color pallets. Best investment in myself and my hobby, my husband says. Picking colors is always hard for me now I have a guide. Thanks for sharing this.

    SRC does quality. I have not purchased the cubes because I have limited space for supplies. But I am intrigued by the product. I really appreciate your very good review of the cubes, and your use of them. I will visit her site. I do save palettes, or color schemes, in Pinterest, and I do use those from time to time. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts and showing how you use them. I've been trying to decide whether to treat myself to them or not (the postage is a lot to the UK), so this really helped. I think they'd be great for Mandalas like the one in your video, where there isn't any colour scheme to help. So I'm going to start saving up for these now :-)

    My first thought for storage is a photo album, with the plastic sleeves designed to hold the photos without attaching them permanently to a page. The cards are just over 4" so a 4x6 (pretty sure that is A6 for your side of the pond) would work. You can put them in back to back to save space since there are so many.

    Are there any discount codes to help with the cost for us in the UK. I keep thinking go for it and then the total cost hits me for six. I need a physical item as I am not great with virtual aids. 😊

    • @RachelHendersonColouring

      Not that I am aware of. However, I think the digital version is cheaper, which some people prefer anyway. You will also find that there is a selection of colour palettes on Pinterest which could be useful to look at if you do not have the cards. Just put 'color palette' in the search and some will come up, although there will be quite a mix of strange pictures!!

    The other advantage of having the pictures is you can reference a thing that's similar to the picture you want to color. So if you're stuck on a color palette for an underwater scene, you can look the underwater pictures for ideas you might not have otherwise.

    Thanks for mentioning the possible difficulty of getting the cards out of the box. This could be a problem for me.

    • @RachelHendersonColouring
      @RachelHendersonColouring  Год назад

      I am getting used to it, I grip the cards either side to pull them out, but yes, if your fingers are not that mobile it could make things tricky, although there could be a way to store them outside of the box, perhaps in plastic sleeves (someone suggested photo albums) so they can be seen more easily.

    I have invested in the whole kit and caboodle... digital, cubes and the companion for the pencil/marker matches. I am fairly new to this world. I am struggling with how to use the palettes on a page ( or a large two page spread) with many images. Even with using different shades of the colours there doesn't seem to be enough colours. Does that make sense? For example a Kerby Rosanes page. How do I make a four or five colour palette work? On a simpler or less detailed page I can do it but when it comes to those larger pages I'm still confused...sigh I would very much appreciate any advice etc.

    • @RachelHendersonColouring
      @RachelHendersonColouring  Год назад

      I think it can take time to get used to using a limited palette particularly if you usually use all the colours in the box. I have done a few Kerby Rosanes pictures with a limited colour palette (one with gold and purple, one with fire colours) and I was happy with how they turned out. Here are links to the pictures on my Facebook page - facebook.com/rachelhendersoncolouring/photos/pb.100077429396728.-2207520000./135005725682409/?type=3 and facebook.com/rachelhendersoncolouring/photos/pb.100077429396728.-2207520000./158850676631247/?type=3 I think you have embrace the notion that you will not be able to colour everything in 'conventional' colours and you will need to colour quite a few things the same colours. Another idea is that if you take 3 pencils for each colour in your palette, you can still get a bigger variety of colours form those. For example if you have Hunters Green in your palette and you take 3 greens for that, you can use each of those green at different pressure to get different intensities of colour and you can use them in combination or on their own. I hope that helps a little bit!

    • @lm9327
      @lm9327 Год назад +2

      You can use multiple cards for the same picture! Either pick cards that go together (ex: all underwater cards) or pick a card for each section. So for Kerby Rosanes, one card for the animal or creature (so you get about 5 colors for that), a different card for the trees, a third card for the flowers, etc.That way, each element in the illustration gets its own color palette:)))
      I hope this helps
