I know this comment is old.... but that wasn't a dance lol it was him bending the string. It's a special kind of guitar that you bend the B string with the strap.
Unforgiven 2 was recorded with two guitars mixed together. The B-Bender was used for the verses. James would have to keep switching which is impossible live.
@@MetallicaLiveHDfortfarande sur att james inte spelade på B-bender gitarren när dom äntligen började spela denna låten live igen för typ 10 år sen haha
I remember as a teenager trying to make this song sound right, fingers bleeding trying to bend it just right. A decade later, learned what a B bender was. 😂
It's because the Tele has some ability were if you bend the neck it makes the b string make the sound it makes during the opening. (Don't know what to call it just watch when he plays.)
Who else came here after watching Rob Scallon's B-bender guitar video?
Lmao I thought I was the only one, its the first song that came to my mind
Sure did.
Me too hahahaha
Maybe. ;)
So, it's not just me then...
This song is just brilliant, it´s super under rated
+Carlos Espinoza Lots of Load/ReLoad shit is underrated.
I love unforgiven II,there's another similar song in harmony in death magnetic, called the day that never comes,i likr that tune too

James is saving his voice here and his vocal cords needs a vacation but, awesome !
Why in live James doesn't play with the Telecaster on The Unforgiven II??
Sounds really good
I think they just play it more simple...
There’s a lot of songs that are stripped down to play easier live, these guys aren’t young anymore
the real question is why doesnt he play it with the b bender live
Probably to minimize the switching of guitars to play and to be handled by tech.
Unforgiven 2 was recorded with two guitars mixed together. The B-Bender was used for the verses. James would have to keep switching which is impossible live.
such a good song they need to play it more
Mason Joines more? They played it once in 1997 and then never again, they should start. This and Fixxxer are my favs on that album
Randy K. They played it 4 hours ago... It was so good...
MetallicaDutch I was there, second row. It was a blast
Randy K. That's lightly put!:D

I didn't know that ESP made a B bender.
ShortFingeredShreder its a custom buddy ☺
When you got Metallica type of money they do
ShortFingeredShreder They’ll make a fucking car for James Hetfield if he asks for it.
ShortFingeredShreder yeah they do, it’s on a Ronnie wood signature model
But the b bender is on a tele
1:09 perfect
The best metallica song ever
People are saying he's trying to save his voice. No, he's sick.

Well when you got Metallica money yeah
He actually has a B-Bender on his guitar Kenan Krakovic
wtranger54 what?
What?
What?
Ok
I think after 2015 James should take a break from singing because it looks like it's painful for him to hit high notes. :/
Guess he had a bad day back there. He actually sounds really good today and also did in the last couple years.
yup
A B BENDER?!
live, I want it be played lived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Как они постарели... Да. Годы идут и все мы не становимся моложе.
why cant Lars just play his parts properly?
IT SOUNDS STOCK!!!
laaaaaazzzy
I think he can't because he just remembering the riff, not the drum pattern or fills
Que le paso a la voz de James;c
Si se oe
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG
God damn his voice is shot :/
Wow James playing a Telecaster on this one !
It's because the Tele has some ability were if you bend the neck it makes the b string make the sound it makes during the opening. (Don't know what to call it just watch when he plays.)
Dylan Willis ...so that how he does that? Goddamn, I've been bending that shit and it is terrible.
OrlovKruskayev Yep its a feature unique to the Tele Its called a B-bender I think. I'm sure by now other guitars can do it.
Gear Head HD he always use telecaster for slow/ballad song
Sofia Janne Henriksen he has never used one live
Хэтфилд похож на моего отца!
James looks (and sings) like he was 70.
