Its about a girl waiting for her lover. Though they haven't met much, she still fell in love with him. The poem describes her anxious feelings as well as her falling in love, while she waits for her lover to come back to her. Feeling as if three months has past just for one of of waiting.

We have lost all of the music from the Greeks. Only a drinking song remains from the Romans left on a tombstone. Here we have a love song resonating from the past. Authentic, ancient, coming from a Asian culture so rich in tradition and continuity.

The "Songs" are a collection of poems诗经/Classics of Poetry (that were sung) dating from the 11th to 7th centuries BC. you're confusing it with the dynasty Song宋, which is written with a different character in Chinese. Because the original melody that accompanies these poems were long lost partially due to the Confucian selection and also later mass massacre of scholars under the reign of the first Qin emperor, the melody used in this video were borrowed from the ones popular in Han dynasty. Basically the poem here predates the music it is set to.
At first there were more than 3000 collected poems, Confucius decided only 300 were to be collected into his version and that became the standard. The "Burning of Books and burying of scholars" 213-210 BC during the Qin dynasty almost destroyed every written record of the poems and the library of history. But the 300 Confucian poems were so standardized that the later surviving scholars were able to write down all the poems by memory. Although it is debatable if there were alterations made to the poems during that process, it is believed that the scholars stayed true to the originals.

There are also Chinese music theory texts and tuning systems that can provide a glimpse into how ancient music or dialects and inflections actually sound, believe me you or most modern person would not be able to appreciate it lol, much like ancient Greek music, the scales sound completely foreign to modern ears, not even diatonic.

    A song 3000 years ago.
    -the Book of Odes
    Blue Blue Your Collar
    Blue blue your collar,
    sad sad my heart:
though I do not go to you,
    why don't you send word?
    Blue blue your belt-stone,
    sad sad my thoughts:
though I do not go to you,
    why don't you come?
    Restless, heedless,
    I walk the gate tower.
    One day not seeing you
    is three months long.

This really conjures up the stock character of a lonely noble woman pining away for her Lord. As you know, men could have multiple wives then. For example, he could have a true wife, and several concubines.
The English translation is a bit strange. How can the lady pine for somebody she has never met? Did they have a written correspondence but never formally met with each other due to morality? Or perhaps she is court lady brought in to be a perspective bride to GH Emperor, but she never catches his eye from all the other women around him? Must be very lonely.
The character 青 in the poem refers to the colours blue and green. This character doesn't distinguish between the two. In this way, there quite bit of repetition like in the rest of the composition. Pardon me if I'm wrong, but does this character also mean "clear"?

all music is beautifull really, even the african drums, but very few music styles have soul in them. A music with soul, no mater fast or slow, fluds you with feelings, it makes you wanna step up and dance. You maybe sad, ungry, happy, nomatter, you just wanna step up and dance, and you dance for you and you alone.

Actually, what is culture? Doesnt culture evolve all the time? Some parts of culture are naturally lost through the passage of time, don't they? But new things will come into being, and become part of that cultural identity. I think the chinese culture has flourished for so long, exactly because it has been able to adapt and change throughout the history. While some lament the loss of ancient culture, I do not necessarily see it as a bad thing.

Ah well then it's a different topic. Huaxia civilizaition was not the only one in China at that time. Recent findings in Sanxingdui, Mawangdui and Xingan has revealed that cultures south of Yangzi river, which Chinese traditionally considered as "barbarians" were flourishing at the same level of sophistication as Huaxia culture. A big majority of Chinese culture didn't come from the Huaxia region...

Listening to this song is like time travelling to that Golden Age of China during the Han dynasty. You feel how peaceful life was and how people were much better spiritually, how life wasn't about getting more money and consuming. How people were traditional and had real human values, how they loved their family and peacefully worked all their life becoming wiser until you could take a break at an elderly age and drink tea while thinking about Confuscious' philosophical ideas. Just my opinion :)

I'm not justifying either massacre - both were horrific. I'm just pointing out the stupidity of hating a nationality due to it. It doesn't matter if it's a century or two centuries. Both shared common points. No, I'm not one of those radicals that want to separate Manchuria. Doing that is the same thing as separating Okinawa - neither side wants it to happen. Both were massacres that neither the Qing government nor Japanese government apologized for and that is what I was pointing out.

Qin established bureaucracy and management that united, and expanded the civilization, even to far southern places where a Qin general named Zhao Tuo had to pacify it's native barbarians (i'm pretty sure you know where this place is).

i understand that you're from vietnam. well, all i have to say is that, many vietnamese believe they are the center of east asia, by associating the chinese with the northern nomadic people in mongolia and siberia, so that they can claim everything else south of it. and by extension, that's how vietnamese start claiming confucius' teachings, or chinese writings, or etc etc.
    classy lol.

To criticize Japan would also make you criticize the Manchurians, which doesn't make sense as most Manchus did not take part of the massacres of Han chinese. The demotion of Prince Dodo (one of the direct commander during) was because of his suspected attempt to usurp the throne, not because of the massacre. In the end, he got promoted again by Qianlong.
The simple number of victims during the massacre in a period without modern weapons should tell you how more twisted the Qing manchus were.
