Sir for some reason I watched this movie. I worked very hard in my life and it wasn't fruitful in India so shifted to Australia. Now, feeling that Ramanujan sir ( A gem ) is true inspiration for me. I am falling short in words. Yeah believe me ....don't have words to express my gratitude towards such a Master. His soul must be in heaven and I bow towards his feet.

I don’t speak understand Hindi but I came to this comment section just to say to all the Indians: Ramanujan should be your national hero, even more than Gandhi. Obviously he made contributions to math but that’s not even what I would be most proud of. If I was Indian, my greatest source of national pride would be knowing that a man from my country had the most inborn genius of maybe anyone else, ever. I’m not exaggerating. Compared to Ramanujan, there were definitely people who made more impactful contributions; the likes of Newton, Einstein, von Neumann, Euler, etc. However; these people were all raised up in the halls of prestigious institutions. They had natural potential; but that potential was built up by countless professors. They had access to vast libraries of information; libraries containing all of the scientific advancements (including math) that our ancestors have discovered for thousands of years. They had access to all the tools they could possibly ask hope for. Their genius was cultivated in that way. The downside is that you’re more likely to think like every other intellectual around you is thinking. That brings me to Ramanujan. Ramanujan had nothing of what I just described. He had his mind, paper, a pencil, and a small handful of relatively basic books; at least, they’re basic compared to what Ramanujan would soon be doing. Instead of building his understanding from a huge bedrock of knowledge that was gifted to him like those other geniuses, he built it from nearly nothing. What he was given as his “bedrock” of knowledge was a few books. Not serious textbooks, just books, and only a few of them. He didn’t have any tools other than the absolute bare minimum and had less information to build his understanding from than western mathematicians had access to in a single textbook. It can’t even be compared really. If you want to compare them, the best way I’d say to do it is to compare the first, let’s say; 20 years of their life. Let’s just use Einstein for comparison. I’m those first 20 years, the information that Ramanujan had access to when compared with Einstein is like a drop in a bucket. If you haven’t hear that saying, it means that it’s basically no comparison. A drop of water is nothing compared to a bucket full. Ramanujan built his understanding relatively nothing. It unbelievable. His inborn talent, his natural genius for numbers and math, it’s like fiction. It’s the type of story that’s so extraordinary that you couldn’t even believe without proof. A genius among geniuses. He basically had to build his understanding up to the level that the rest of the world needed centuries of slow progress to reach, and he did it. Unbelievable. Ramanujan’s genius defies description.

अगर कोई कॉमेंट बॉक्स मै movie देखने से पहले ...मूवी रिव्यू के लिए आया है तो मुझे लगता है ये मूवी जरूर देखनी चाहिए। बहुत कुछ सीखा देगी ये फिल्म....पुराने भारतीय समाज का अच्छा चित्रण करती है। भारतीय लोगों से ज्यादा ज्ञान की कदर अंग्रेजों ने की थी। अगर वो अंग्रेज ना होते तो शायद आज रामानुजन को कोई नही जानता। भारतीय लोग टेलेंट को नहीं पहचान सके। शायद ऐसे कितने लोग और होंगे जो बिना पहचान के ही मर गए होंगे।

I don’t speak understand Hindi but I came to this comment section just to say to all the Indians: Ramanujan should be your national hero, even more than Gandhi. Obviously he made contributions to math but that’s not even what I would be most proud of. If I was Indian, my greatest source of national pride would be knowing that a man from my country had the most inborn genius of maybe anyone else, ever. I’m not exaggerating.
Compared to Ramanujan, there were definitely people who made more impactful contributions; the likes of Newton, Einstein, von Neumann, Euler, etc. However; these people were all raised up in the halls of prestigious institutions. They had natural potential; but that potential was built up by countless professors. They had access to vast libraries of information; libraries containing all of the scientific advancements (including math) that our ancestors have discovered for thousands of years. They had access to all the tools they could possibly ask hope for. Their genius was cultivated in that way. The downside is that you’re more likely to think like every other intellectual around you is thinking. That brings me to Ramanujan.
Ramanujan had nothing of what I just described. He had his mind, paper, a pencil, and a small handful of relatively basic books; at least, they’re basic compared to what Ramanujan would soon be doing. Instead of building his understanding from a huge bedrock of knowledge that was gifted to him like those other geniuses, he built it from nearly nothing. What he was given as his “bedrock” of knowledge was a few books. Not serious textbooks, just books, and only a few of them. He didn’t have any tools other than the absolute bare minimum and had less information to build his understanding from than western mathematicians had access to in a single textbook. It can’t even be compared really. If you want to compare them, the best way I’d say to do it is to compare the first, let’s say; 20 years of their life. Let’s just use Einstein for comparison. I’m those first 20 years, the information that Ramanujan had access to when compared with Einstein is like a drop in a bucket. If you haven’t hear that saying, it means that it’s basically no comparison. A drop of water is nothing compared to a bucket full.
Ramanujan built his understanding relatively nothing. It unbelievable. His inborn talent, his natural genius for numbers and math, it’s like fiction. It’s the type of story that’s so extraordinary that you couldn’t even believe without proof. A genius among geniuses. He basically had to build his understanding up to the level that the rest of the world needed centuries of slow progress to reach, and he did it. Unbelievable. Ramanujan’s genius defies description.

Just saw a report on RUclips saying that what Ramanujan wrote was already written in Shashtras. Strange comment. Prof Hardy with whom Ramanujan worked in Cambridge wrote on Ramanujan's death: "For my part it is difficult for me to say what I owe to Ramanujan - his originality has been a constant source of suggestion to me ever since i knew him, and his death is one of the worst blows i have ever had."
