This reminded me of an old fight back in the day between Mark Tinordi when he was still a cap vs a guy from Toronto I believe whose name I'm blanking on. It was a very evenly matched fight that played out like this but more explosive. If anyone can remember the one I'm talking about, remind me of the other guys name. I believe Tinordi was playing with a broken nose in that game.
@@jonah.donohue You must be new to the sport. There's nothing cheap about a hockey mask, it's the most expensive personal item in the game, pro masks used by NHL goalies start around $1,000. The mold they're formed in is plastic, the mask is made using carbon fiber and fiberglass with a layer of foam, the cage is stainless steel, each one is custom made for the wearer, if you want professional artwork painted on it that's gonna double the price. Every helmet is made the same way but skaters don't use steel cages, they usually go with a plastic visor that can slice your hands up pretty bad.
Wasn’t a tooth. If You slow down the replay you’ll see that it was a dark in colour it’s that went flying. Unless one of them had a black rotting tooth, of course.
These dudes must practice punching helmets during the off-season to toughen up their hands. I had one fight in hockey and my knuckles paid the price. I swore never again were the gloves coming off.

I will tell you right now Carbery better not pull McIlrath out of the lineup when Roy gets back this dude is the heart of the Caps right now.. The team knows it and the fans know it.
Some people who can’t play hockey seem to enjoy fighting instead. However, we want to see more goals. The truth is that your fans don’t care about the long-term effects of brain damage. It’s time to focus on improving your hockey skills rather than creating unnecessary fights.
As a fan of 70s and 80s hockey, that’s not a hockey fight and not interesting. Fighting used to be spontaneous, not two idiots taking off equipment and staring at each other for 5 seconds. Staged fights shouldn’t be part of the sport; both those two should have been given misconducts along with majors.
Back in the day players removed their lids before a scrap so they wouldn't injure their hands when throwing fists. If one dude has no helmet the other dude should remove theirs as well, keeping it on should be considered as bad as turtling.
@@JohnAlex1 No, you get a penalty if you drop gloves and the opponent doesn't, you also get a penalty if your jersey comes untied and gets pulled over your head. Players also used to roll up their sleeves and tuck them in their elbow pads, don't see that anymore. The tied down jersey rule came about because of an incident where the Canucks' Gino Odjick tried taking on the entire St. Louis bench and wound up half naked, he had a habit of taking off his jersey so other guys couldn't pull it over his head and blind him. If you look for that game you'll laugh your ass off, Gino takes down half the guys on the ice but not Glenn Anderson who started the whole thing, Glenn wanted no part of Gino and kept the refs between them.
@@JohnAlex1 They'd be offsetting penalties if both fighters did it, which I think they should. Also, screw the penalty, take it, other enforcers and players will respect you more. The problem is that there really aren't enforcers anymore, guys who are there to fight on behalf of their team and only in the lineup to go a round or two with the other team's enforcer. Players that do fight in the current NHL have other roles and can go an entire season just dropping the gloves maybe 3 or 4 times, they don't respect the unwritten rules of hockey enforcement because fighting is discouraged in U17, Pee Wee and Atom, it isn't a part of the hockey education anymore.
