URBAN GARDEN. HOMEMADE RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM
To water an orchard it is always a good idea to take advantage of the rainwater instead of letting it go. If you also live in a place where tap water is scarce, expensive, or of poor quality (or worse, all three things at once), then, collecting that water, more than an "option", I see it A goal to be achieved. The THREE reasons why I have endeavored to make this rainwater collection system AND PRESCRIBING THE TAP WATER are the following:

REASON TWO: EXPENSIVE WATER, VERY EXPENSIVE WATER
REASON THREE: HARD WATERS.
This system allows to store up to 2000 liters of water, 500 liters on the terrace to be used immediately, and 1500 liters of reserve in the patio to avoid overloading the terrace weight. If while we are spending the 500 liters of the terrace it rains, great, the drums will recharge. But if there is a drought and we end up emptying them, we can use the drums "down" the patio, raising the water to the terrace with a simple pump (it is tested in the video, and it works).
The cost is more than justified:
8 drums: Two gave me them in factories that pack pickles (olives, tapas, etc.), the other 6 drums, at 4 euros each: Total, 24 euros.
The pump to raise the water, 50 euros
The rest of material: Hose, fittings, sleeves, spikes, clamps and various material, say another 50 euros.
In total, 24 + 50 + 50 euros = 124 euros.
When you collect 5 cubic meters of water, you will have amortized.
And remember, that the economic matter, the amortization, is something secondary. There is a much more important factor: Tap water, depending on locations, ravages the floor.
