I've said it before, but I'm really impressed with your new, to-the-point format. You cram more useful info into a short video than most people I subscribe to, and I'm impressed with the depth and breadth of your knowledge. Great work and keep it coming James!

I bought a used planer and it wouldn't feed correctly. After watching your video I cleaned the rollers with alcohol, waxed the bed and fences and reversed the blades. It now works like a new one, thanks for your info.

Stumpy... Thank you for your solution for planer in -feed roller slippage. I just bought a used Delta 12.5" surface planer and realized the board was slipping when being fed through the planer. I also found out the price of two rollers. YIKES!! I was was in a panic. I was hoping that my rollers probably just needed cleaning or was hopeful that it was a possibility that the problem could be fixed. Sure enough "Stumpy Nubs" to the rescue. Your video explained that the solution to the problem was (literaly) NAPTHA. Too late tonight to purchase some but tomorrow I'm off to get it and pray for a fix. Thank you!

Another reason for roller slipping is dull blades. Happened to me and was diagnosed using the light test. ;)

Hey Stumpy, here in the People's Republic of California you can't buy naphtha any more; would mineral spirits or acetone substitute?

      Mineral spirits will work fine.

solvents are hard on the rollers, I use the belt sander cleaning rubber. It does a perfect job and no chemicals!

Neither mineral spirits, nor naptha will harm rubber at all.

I tried to buy mineral spirits at Osh and was told that the Peoples Republic of California no longer allows the sale of it. It was recommended to use paint thinner. Does anyone know if this is the same thing or will work the same way. Help! my rollers are slipping!

Paint thinner is less effective and more noxious (and therefore more dangerous if inhaled) than mineral spirits.OF COURSE California doesn't allow it... :) Try it. You may have to scrub a little more because paint thinner isn't the best solvent. But as long as you aren't soaking the rollers in a tub of it, it won't hurt them.
