AOMG is mainly a hip hop label so Lee Hi joining as someone previously considered a kpop star was something really exciting

Well she did come from YG which is very slightly like AOMG so it is nothing surprising but it did create some buzz around the industry

Regarding the YG 2 months gap promotions. We have to also understand that to your point YG indeed has a lot of teams BUT within that team are perfectionist on how their songs will come out, this is why you rarely see FULL ALBUMS with their artists, no more than 2 comebacks a year for the artists. YG tends to go with quality over quantity mindset. We as fans would think that if they're just laying around poorly waiting for a comeback in the "basement" or "dungeon" but no they're not some are already working on a future track, some are practicing on improving, some are working on a new skill, some are taking a healthy rest, some may already have a prior solo schedule like separate from their group like for example BLACKPINK members have their own companies now and they have some scheduled appointments on their own and scheduling a comeback on a short notice would be detrimental to the sound they want to create for the group, their business, or maybe even their health.
