Probably the only artist who can render Hindustani, Sufi, ghazal, vachana sahitya, dasa sahitya, bhaavageethe and every other form with same perfection and elan. Smitha Bellur's insight into religious texts is not confined to a religion. She is able to narrate the nuances in the verses of Sufism and can draw correlation with others too - thus being "truly" spiritual. This attribute of hers is distinctive and certainly resonates in her singing. Have been a huge fan of her since years. Would love to see her perform kannada bhaavageethe more. Can't help without mentioning this link - rendition of poet's K.S.Narasimhaswamy's "deepavu ninnade". ruclips.net/video/Vh1Uqx6ANkA/видео.html And thanks Sowjanya for this episode...most candid...and you rock as always...all the best..
What a beautiful conversation ? One straight question from Smita inspired me to explore Upanishads and Gita (ofcourse, learning/reading/trying to understand Gita already). Spirituality, divine music and stock trading...what a killer Combo. Thank you !
Timeline 5:10: About Guruji- I have remember Maulana Rumi saying Water is searching for the one who is thirst.. meaning Guru is searching for the disciples who are in need of Guru.
Really enjoyed this. Kudos to you both for staying true to your heart. Requesting if show noted can be added for example the name of flutist Smita mentions. This would be immensely helpful.
