My recommendation for taking care of your recovering health while also working through your backlog is to start with simpler games in each of your categories while going from simpler to more complex. Tiredness makes reading and processing rules (plus strategizing during play) twice as long so while you still aren't 100% well. That might help you slowly regain those cognitive skills, physical endurance and give you a sense of progress all at once (especially since dealing with shorter ones will make that shelf shrink faster). I'm that severe chronic fatigue person from last time (and ko-fi) ;) When I have a flare, my shorter and less complex games get at the top of my play list. When I suddenly have more energy, then I can dig into a medium one, and it helps me get back to the more complex ones. I learned the hard way lol Spent so long with brain fog trying hard to get to my most desired games (heavier ones) but they took so long to process and even hurt to play. So I'm wiser now and work my way back from a flare instead. :)

Probably not appropriate for the classic "in 3 minutes" review, but maybe bundled up in a longer video as "here's a bunch of interesting oddities". She might like Pick-A-Dog. Nothing but a deck of square cards. No numbers or words to read. Just grab the card that is either exactly the same or has exactly one difference from your starting card and, after that, the previous card. Then you say STOP when no further cards qualify. If all your cards have exactly zero or one difference from the previous card in the stack, you keep all your cards and get a bonus one of your choice from the table. But if you made a mistake in your pile or if you could have added one more card to your pile, you lose all of your cards.
Definitely keen for you to cover GMT games. As long as you do the disclaimer, fans of the channel know how straight up and honest you are in that area anyway, so I don’t think you’ll get any kickback My GMT collection has gotten out of control and with three kids now, it’s getting harder and harder to play them. I only recently got into Memoir '44 (been sitting on my shelf for awhile), a fairly light tactical 'war' game that doesn't take too long to play. And I enjoyed it so much, that I invested in a fair bit more content for it. Really like how more mechanics are added with each new expansion. It's a keeper for me.
Memoir '44 is really the standard by which I/most people judge all other tactical war games, so I think its really important that he gets to this game just so he can base his reviews properly!
@@melski9205 I also have Warfighter WW2 (Pacific, can't find the orignal WW2 for a decent price in Canada), which I grabbed recently, but haven't tried it yet. Any experience with it? If so, what do you think of it?
I've spent the last 4 days playing 10 games of Near and Far with my 6 year nephew - he really loved getting the stories and collecting the gems and when we finished one game just wanted to set up the next - so could be something that your daughter enjoys playing with you one day. My 4 and 6 year old nephew were both fans of Komodo and Flappy Families in the NZ game category.
You always do this well but with the COIN games...I think others could REALLY benefit with your deep dive into the WHY they are an important part of the hobby. They have a barrier of entry for sure just with the complication...so I think your viewpoint on it can really help people determine what might be in it for them to make that investment. Love this video...
Would like to see you do The Pursuit of Happiness. Aside from that, I agree with you that culling your collection is a good idea, especially with having a kid and not being 100%.
Cascadia, Century Golem Edition, Tiny Epic Galaxies are all games I'd love to see, I feel like all 3 are quite good. Clank in Space is one that's been on my shelf of shame and personally would love to see.
I totally know how you feel, haha. I have 3 daughters (1, 2 and 5yo) so my videos and gaming only happens at night as well, which makes it pretty clear where I got my channel's name from. I also got hit with Covid 3 weeks ago and I'm still struggling with the lingering effects of that (still trying to get my full voice back). That being said, I'm looking forward to your future content. I'm also very very jealous of your recording space :D.
For anyone interested (and you too 3 Minute) at 10:00 is introduced "Hannibal Rome vs Carthage" as a "no point to make a video it's out of print"...WELL, the game has a newish edition (2018) called Hannibal & Hamilcar, which is still very much available.
I would love to see Nations/Food Chain Magnate (because I love those games) and Pret-a-porter/Pipeline (because they are on my shelf of shame too). More GMT games would be neat too. The Dice Tower really liked that Fallout Shelter game.
I’m interested in any in or OOP wargames you can find!!!! I think you can do GMT stuff. Your audience is smart and know your channel to be high integrity and those that don’t aren’t the subs you want. Plus the wargame community has all sorts of peeps on similar boats. Plenty of other GMT designers that have channels or pod casts, etc.
Modern classics (and I'm not sure if you've covered them already) - Stone Age, Acquire, Splendor, Wingspan, Puerto Rico, Monopoly, Cards Against Humanity, Articulate, Bananagrams, Rummikub, Yahtzee, Jenga, Backgammon.
Agricola because building a farm is strangely fun. And original DoW Colosseum, awesome family game. Also Pan Am game is quickly becoming a new favorite due to simple rules and engaging gameplay.
Push is a brilliant push your luck filler card game, we got it free at BGG Con way back. It’s come with us on so many trips and pub visits since then. If you aren’t a fan of filler card games put it on the shelf of child friendly games to play in a few years, it’s way better than uno. Last Will is a solid worker placement with the nice twist that you have to spend the most money fastest. It was one of my first games orders back in the day.
I picked up a copy of Feudum for a good price and put it in the too hard basket for over a year. I've played it 3 times now, and like it more with each play. It's kind of a glorious mess that feels like it should have had some editing, but on the other hand I'm not sure I'd change much. It's one of those unique auteur designs that is a fulfilment of the designer's vision, and it works. But if you only play it once a year, it's a bear to re-learn.
I'll put a plug in for Flash Point: Fire Rescue! When I saw it on your shelf at the start of the video, my eyes went straight to it. I love Pandemic, but getting that game on the table with my CHILDREN never happened. I wasn't sure why until I played Flash Point with my kids. The setting and scale is SO much more relatable to children than Pandemic's "disease across the globe". Also, the base game of Flash Point is the BASIC game (without individual player roles etc.), which makes it easy to introduce to children (and other learners) before adding the richness that all the "advanced" options do. If "learning" is also a part of the appeal of a family game, this subject matter is also great for raising kids' awareness of a serious topic in a fun way. (But let's be honest: the strongest appeal to my kids is rescuing the cat and the dog - apparently they are FAR more important than the fellow humans!)
For what it's worth, I've played Tiny Epic Galaxies many times and it's a nice little game. Granted, it's the only "Tiny Epic" game I've played, but it's also the highest rated "Tiny Epic" game on BGG by quite a margin.
And I would love to hear your thought on GMT game. I watch lovenox reviewers to form my option and sometimes hearing someone's love of a game give me the desire to check it out.
Disclaimer should do it. GMT have published too many really good games that could interest a "normal" boardgamer too. Like the COIN series (Root), Conquest of Paradise (any 4X), Dominant Species (heavy worker placement) or some racing games, one even with Roman horses.
Honestly of that whole pile the only one I would keep is Near and Far. Its not just a campaign game, it can be done in one session too, maybe that side of it could make a good 3 minute video? Especially if it's holding you up for other red raven games. That's a pretty impressive catalog to be missing out on. Plays best at 3 but runs well at 2 too. Figure in 30 mins per player for your one and done.
My opinion (fwiw) on covering some GMT games is that I think it wouldn't be a problem with an appropriate up front disclaimer. Subscribers and others that watch your content regularly know you'll stay objective about it. My only other comment is that we really enjoy Manhattan Project and would be interested in your coverage looking at each of the games in the series and their relative pros and cons since we haven't played MP2: Minutes to Midnight or MP: Energy Empire.
I love food chain magnate with the right group! It's very similar to Brass in that it's all about finding and exploiting tactical opportunities which change from turn to turn, which hopefully feed into your overall strategy. Definitely one that requires people to be on the same level of competitiveness. Players who don't care as much will get destroyed. Coffee recommended
Interesting video - thanks! Taverns of Tiefenthal is quite decent - definitely worth a review. I have seen a fair bit of love for Praga Caput Regni in the solo community.
Been there with the kiddos. Since my youngest hss hit the age of 4/5 there has been a lot more time for saturday game sessions. Would love to see your thoughts on Clank! in space. I loved playing Strogonov and Russian Railroad with our 4 player group. Bass and Gugong were other standouts for me.
Woah... I went down a rabbit hole. I made the mistake of Googling the Golden Bell drama not having previous knowledge of it. Thirty minutes later I finally get back to the video.
I’d personally vote for you to push Burgle Bros up the list a bit 🙂 an endlessly replayable game without the need for a whole load of components/variants
I'd like to see those "children friendly games" of bigger box games like that Everdell one. Recently if a game has a smaller footprint and complexity, like the smallbox Ticket to Ride, I prefer to get those because my wife and I enjoy the relative complexity and time committment they provide. (We are also suckers for cute animal games too). We also play small games like Railroad Ink (the original, basic one) and Qwixx - gives enough choice to still be a game but not a main course meal. So im curious as to how games that are 'marketed towards children' hold up to being a "nice quick game that is still interesting enough for adults". It's cool to see bigger games that are able to boil it down while able to still present the same mechanics. There's a lot of creativity that goes into making a game smaller
@@3MBG It's a weird game with a lot of moving parts. But it's definitely one you want to have set up before the people arrive for the evening. Play time is about 2.5 hours.
I really enjoy Fallout Shelter. It's pretty straightforward worker placement so I often introduce non-gamers to it. I wish it was slightly cheaper but it's a great package and I hunted down the out of print playmat for it.
Personally I strongly dislike our hobby's treatment of BGG rankings as being important, but I guess it is important if you feel that might affect viewing numbers.
There are 100% issues with BGG numbers for sure. But when a game is a hobby game that should do ok on BGG, and it doesn't, you pay attention. Something like District 9 stats tell you a lot about the game quickly. Zero plays this month, rank 16,000 odd. You know no one is interested in that from a quick glance
Didn't know Chris Kluwe made a board game. I've played LoL with him a few times (a long time ago). I really like Dark Moon. My favorite social deduction/hidden traitor game.
REALLY like Pipeline. Slim to no luck, super tight economy, and we've had people in our group win with NO loans and NO upgrades which... boggles my mind...but is possible.
It's totally OK to have biases and opinions - it's impossible to avoid them. If you declare these upfront you can absolutely review GMT and COIN games. They don't get a lot of coverage in mainstream board game channels, so it would be a shame to not cover these. You do you, and your audience will respect you for it.
Blimey! The only thing I’ve ever backed on Kickstarter (partly because it was way less than £100) was Bristol 1350. It’s not bad. Mechanics are good. It needs a much bigger board. The kids like it. I would recommend it, I think.
Near and far is amazing. I don’t think it’s the kind of campaign you need to play all the way through to get the jist. It feels more like one off adventures to me with just small threads connecting it to a larger story. But maybe as a reviewer you need to be more thorough. Thanks again for all you do and hope you are back at 100% soon!
You should *ABSOLUTELY* do COIN games. Who spends more time thinking about them than you? Give us a slice of that expertise. But break out of your usual 3-minute review format for them. Personally, I think I might like COIN games, at least by the subject matter, but don't know where to start or what to look for. I hope you'll do a series.
25:39 Lol, as someone who considers Quantum a jewel of their collection, I feel called out on my motives. You should play it, though! It's really, really good.
Vampire Heritage is ooookaaaayyyy. It's got a bunch of fun ideas but I don't think any of it gels together particularly well. I'd just get rid of it personally. Kings dilemma, however, is excellent. There's some Jank, there are some Win More mechanics so I'm really looking forward to the sequel as it'll hopefully sort out some of the issues
You have some tough decisions to make! I'd be interested in a video comparing the COIN system to other asymmetric conflict games such as Chaos Order and Root.
23:02 Near & Far isn’t only a campaign gain, you can do a one shot, pick your map and play. Sure, the richness will be in the character mode or campaign but you can do a one shot. Advocating for it because Above & Below was a first for me in the hobby and Near & Far was shortly after and they are amazing. Until Sleeping Gods came out N&F was by far the one people pointed to most of Ryan Lakaut’s games. Now, Sleeping Gods is but of course he’s done a version two that is streamlined and quicker to set up and blah blah so people will probably say that is 1A and Sleeping Gods is 1B but N&F is 2, with some people saying Islebound as the dark horse underdog sneaky number 2.
To the point about Islebound, it is a 3-4 player game and probably just a 4p. Neat with the modular board but to me nothing as immersive like the book A&B and N&F bring.
It is interesting that you fell ill twice before trying to play Bristol 1350, considering it is a game about the Plague. Here's hoping this is just coincidental. I'm really looking forward to your review when you finally soldier through. To be honest, I don't even know how strong the game is, but the whole thing had me in stitches. Definitely play with as many folks as possible. It plays up to 9, and would make a good filler after that other 8 player game you said you needed to get to 🙂
I still enjoy Pursuit of Happiness. Mosaic, Clank, Nations, Manhattan Project, and Cascadia are quite fun! I kickstarted Intrepid and I'd love to see your opinion of it. I can't wait to see your 3 minute take on High Frontier 4 All with all the expansions (just kidding)! Keep up the good work!
Complexity and time to learn + finding players were barriers. I'm not a big fan of Phil Eklund as a person either, so that doesn't help. And every time i thought about playing it, we ended up just playing leaving earth again.
My thoughts on a plan: Tier 1, hot/recent games: Frosthaven, Dune game, Clone Wars, Lil Everdell, Maglev Metro, Starship Captains, Cascadia, Calico Tier 2, your interest/any order: (listed as they appeared in the video) Flashpoint, Pret-A-Porter, Mosaic, Libertalia, Tidal Blades, The Spill, Strogonov, Star Dew, Clank, Taverns of…, 1 of the Century games (same thing different skin; Golem), Praga…, Trajan, Russian Railroads Tier 3, filler/sprinkle in: Modern Classics lists, Old Games, GMT Everything not listed I would say is the ruthless, don’t bother, sell pile because I haven’t heard about any of them from any other content space and I would plenty of DT, MvM, Boardgameco, Heavy Cardboard, Quackalope and I may have missed one. Hope that was helpful.
Thanks for the tier list. Worth noting a fair few of those creators pretty much only do crowdfunding stuff. So some pretty soild titles that don't need to pay for marketing pass them by
I think it's really ironic how both times you tried to play Bristol 1350 you got sick, since that game's theme is centered on the plague. I think you should give PUSH a chance even though everyone who sees it will ask "is this Uno?" Which it definitely isn't. It's an incredibly simple push your luck game but it has gotten lots of praise when I'm playing with newer gamers or my family (and also my normal gaming group but only when we're drunk). You skipped over Hidden Leaders in your video. It was a kickstarter game, I only got around to play it once, but it was fine. Nice ideas, great artwork, I have to try it again. You should definitely give Irish Gauge (and Iberian Gauge) a try out. The combination of economics, trains, uneasy co-operation are fantastic, and these games are much easier to get into and more beautiful than the other games in this genre. They're both in my top 50 games.
Feudum is amazing. While you couldn’t go into every rule I think you could do a decent overview in three minutes. Ten seconds per action card and ten seconds per guild is totally doable. That leaves you a whole ten seconds for the intro and outro. And to reiterate… it’s an *amazing* game.
I recently opened my group up on the local community facebook group and got a bunch of new people, so yeah, if you were in wellington, you'd be eligible
I would add Cosmic Encounter, Splendor and Viticulture (did you do that?) to the classics. Tiny Epic Galaxies is one of my favourite big-game-in-a-small-boc experiences. I know SOME of the TE games aren't so hot but this one is! I also have Umbra Via on my SOSh not sure you should discount it totally.
Unlikely i'll do others. They are exceedingly expensive here in Aotearoa. Food chain magnate I only have because i found a second hand copy. In stores, it normally sells for 25% more than Gloomhaven. I have no idea why this one company is so expensive here and their stuff is very rarely in stores as well.
King's Dilemma seems like it could eventually find a slot in your next "3 second board games" video if you can't see yourself doing a full 3 minutes on it :)
Would love to see Chai Tea for 2 and Burgle Bros. Chai looks fun but has had a terrible time fulfilling their kickstarter. The comments section has become fairly toxic. BB looks like a great co-op for me and my wife. Any of the chunky euro games would be fun to see too. You've got your work cut out for you!
@@3MBG there’s a kickstarter for Manhattan Project: War Machine, but I never played Manhattan Project and maaybe the original is better. The kickstarter project looks to be a little more abstracted so I’m not sold.
5:08 Stronghold please. Was given the first edition for my birthday 9 years ago. Played it once and never went back. Did I miss something? Sadly I live in a country with very limited board games market so likely can't sell it on. Wife thinks I have way too many (maybe 25 games) so deciding if I should keep or giveaway... no idea who to. Watched another review of Fallout Shelter. Looks like fun. Simple rules but satisfyingly challenging,
Damn, it is that old. Yeah, i think stronghold will be on the list this year. Just because i really want to also play undead and see if i keep one, none or both
For a european point of view I suggest to cover Cascadia and Acropolis wich are new and interest more peoples. If you cover Russian Railroad take care that a big box had be reprint in 2022 and the name is "ultimate railroad", I think à lot of People will search with this name. Take care of you and your health and enjoy if you can. Fab
Would love to see Flashpoint, Chaos Order, Northgard, Nemisis Lockdown, any of the Centry Golem series and Russian Railroads ( the re-print is out) so will add value.
@3 Minute Board Games looks the same. Appears they have reprinted it, added another expansion, and put it all in one box. Now branded Ultimate Railroads.
PLEASE do a 3 minute video of High Frontier 4 All with all modules. Yes, including module 3. You'll get the views from people just to see what you can pull off!
@@3MBG There are some really interesting games coming out of Ion this year. We picked up Galenus and love it, and I have Sammu-ramat, Derrocar and Stationfall on order. These are the games SU&SD, No Pun Included and probably Dice Tower will never cover. I think Galenus is far better than a lot of higher profile games out there.
I have no relationship with Ion, about the only game of theirs i've played was Expedition zetta and it wasn't great. So they have been super off my radar.
You reckon you'll do a 3 minute review of Intrepid at some point? Despite the some build quality issues with the main dial things in the game, the gameplay itself is pretty cool. EDIT: Guess I should have posted before I went through the video 🙂 EDIT EDIT: FYI, Intrepid is in retail. It's a pretty good game IMHO, would be interested to hear your opinion on it. It hasn't really gotten much reviewer attention but the BGG ratings are solid.
Modern Classics (also a few party games I think would drive traffic) good Intro Games as it were to round your 4 to a top 10. Maybe a single 30 min video to go over these 10 games. Letting people know what they are getting if they buy them. Dixit Codenames King of Tokyo Small world Stone Age 7 Wonders I would like to see a Clank Catacombs with the expansion 3 minute. Flamecraft Heat: Pedal to the Medal Bad Company
Strong piece of advice for a first play of Food Chain Magnate: two player or at most three player for the first game. Probably lose, but learn the game. The game is otherwise too long for a first play.
@@3MBG I had a first game again CM. Asked him if he wanted advice at all. He said basically "no, go as hard as you can, l'll lose but I'll learn". We stopped a turn before the end. He would have earned $3 that last turn, which would have been his first money of the game 🙂 You can lose first turn, but shouldn't unless you don't do one of the two valid openings (three with expansion).
Just my 5 cents, I'd be keen to see V-Sabotage. I feel that has been out for awhile. Was it called V-Commandos? Anyways, looking forward to seeing that in the future. May need to order a copy too.

+1
Cascadia, Century Golem Edition, Tiny Epic Galaxies are all games I'd love to see, I feel like all 3 are quite good. Clank in Space is one that's been on my shelf of shame and personally would love to see.
Seconded for Cascadia and Century Golem series. Pretty popular games and the first Century Golem was already covered.
cascadia and calico might be a good pair to video together in a compare and contrast
Definitely cover GMT games!
I hear you, and thats good to know. But that would involve getting a whole new game as if its different, its different.
I would love to see Nations/Food Chain Magnate (because I love those games) and Pret-a-porter/Pipeline (because they are on my shelf of shame too). More GMT games would be neat too. The Dice Tower really liked that Fallout Shelter game.
Trajan just came back in print. Brilliant game. Brilliant!
Ah, i must have got a new print then
@@3MBG yes, that's a new edition. Only difference is the box. First edition was bluish black, that one is white.
@@3MBG in my top 20 since my First play of it.
Bahaha, shelf of shame becomes the shelf of opportunity. Enjoyed the summer shirts, so much I was subconsciously inspired by you LOL
Cover GMT dammit! Your vids introduced me to them and im glad you did! Wishbthey were easier to find in europe tho!
Jenga, backgammon, monopoly, rummy and yahtzee are all just classics, certainly not modern at this point.
Agricola because building a farm is strangely fun.
And original DoW Colosseum, awesome family game.
Also Pan Am game is quickly becoming a new favorite due to simple rules and engaging gameplay.
Modern doesn't mean contemporary. Modern is anything 1500s and later.
Azul, Telestrations, Codenams, Pandemic, Sushi Go, Exploding Kittens.
Well if it’s 1500 or later, Clue, Battleship, Sorry, The Game of Life…
Push is a brilliant push your luck filler card game, we got it free at BGG Con way back.
Red Dragon Inn was the second modern board game I ever played! I have all the stuff for it and my group love to end the game night with it
I picked up a copy of Feudum for a good price and put it in the too hard basket for over a year.
Please review the coin games. Just put a disclaimer. Fun vid!
Did i miss Wayfarers of the South Tigris? I can't help but read the instructions for those boys in a Kiwi accent.
Wayfarers got reviewed, and my preview copy is actually with one of my testers at the moment. This shelf was only the backlog games
It's a real "wtf" moment for board gaming. Like, its so bizarre and just so much happened.
Man I would love to see that Unbroken story fleshed out.
I’d personally vote for you to push Burgle Bros up the list a bit 🙂 an endlessly replayable game without the need for a whole load of components/variants
would love to see a "Dominion in about 3 Minutes" :)
Memoir 44, Circadians Chaos Order, and actually Feudum (lol) are the ones I'd most want to see!
Feudum might be a bridge to far for 3 minutes, lol
Edge of Darkness is excellent. Card crafting is a great mechanic. Really recommend EoD.
I got it for 1/3rd of the KS price so ti was a steal, but it was solely because i was keen on that card crafting mechanic. Am keen to try it.
Nice. Shelf of opportunities is a better term. I think my Opportunities is about 9 long.
I'm really excited to see your takes on mosaic and star wars the clone wars
Personally I strongly dislike our hobby's treatment of BGG rankings as being important, but I guess it is important if you feel that might affect viewing numbers.
There are 100% issues with BGG numbers for sure. But when a game is a hobby game that should do ok on BGG, and it doesn't, you pay attention. Something like District 9 stats tell you a lot about the game quickly. Zero plays this month, rank 16,000 odd. You know no one is interested in that from a quick glance
Our hero returns. To make a great sacrifice yet again.
I picked up The Spill at my FLGS because I think the family will like it. Hopefully I'll get it to the table today.
This was a nice format. 👍 Nations and Keyforge should be reviewed.
Has keyforge come back yet?
@@3MBG I think it’s still finishing its kickstarter.
Modern classics could include Betrayal at HotH. I’ve run into numerous casual gamers who love it, so might be good clicks there, if not mentioned.
Tiny Galaxies: I've played solo a few times. Really a good time!
Bristol 1350 is very good. For a small game, the mechanics are more complex and varied than you'd think. High replayability.
Blimey! The only thing I’ve ever backed on Kickstarter (partly because it was way less than £100) was Bristol 1350. It’s not bad. Mechanics are good. It needs a much bigger board. The kids like it. I would recommend it, I think.
I'd love some "really classic" 3MBG reviews including go (weiqi), mehen, majong, and senet!
Oooh do I see Dice Forge on there? Love that game!
Yip, Trajan is out of print.
I probably got the last store copy in NZ methinks
It is interesting that you fell ill twice before trying to play Bristol 1350, considering it is a game about the Plague. Here's hoping this is just coincidental. I'm really looking forward to your review when you finally soldier through. To be honest, I don't even know how strong the game is, but the whole thing had me in stitches. Definitely play with as many folks as possible. It plays up to 9, and would make a good filler after that other 8 player game you said you needed to get to 🙂
Sleeping Gods is ace, but then I love narrative games (as should you with your gamebook background 😂).
HF4A was one of many games to leave the shelf this year.
@@3MBG I t is one of my favorite games, but not for everyone.
Complexity and time to learn + finding players were barriers. I'm not a big fan of Phil Eklund as a person either, so that doesn't help. And every time i thought about playing it, we ended up just playing leaving earth again.
THE THING! 6-8 players haven’t been a THING lately 😂 I see what ya did there.
My thoughts on a plan:
Tier 1, hot/recent games: Frosthaven, Dune game, Clone Wars, Lil Everdell, Maglev Metro, Starship Captains, Cascadia, Calico
Tier 2, your interest/any order: (listed as they appeared in the video) Flashpoint, Pret-A-Porter, Mosaic, Libertalia, Tidal Blades, The Spill, Strogonov, Star Dew, Clank, Taverns of…, 1 of the Century games (same thing different skin; Golem), Praga…, Trajan, Russian Railroads
Tier 3, filler/sprinkle in: Modern Classics lists, Old Games, GMT
Everything not listed I would say is the ruthless, don’t bother, sell pile because I haven’t heard about any of them from any other content space and I would plenty of DT, MvM, Boardgameco, Heavy Cardboard, Quackalope and I may have missed one.
Lol
Taverns, Russian Railroads, Cascadia, Calico and Clank! I would like to see them reviewed.
I think you are right to cover coin and similar games to TS and 1989. Although, I wish you would make clear that player count for COIN is critical.
Yeah, full count or not at all really. I've personally never been a fan of using bots to fill player gaps either
Very interested in sekigahara, and also the kickstarter unbroken debacle
I would love to join your game group whenever I decide to move back to NZ
I recently opened my group up on the local community facebook group and got a bunch of new people, so yeah, if you were in wellington, you'd be eligible
I'd love to see a Mosiac review
I suspect you should see that sometime feb-march.
I've done all 3 of those even :)
Modern classics: have you featured Agricola?
No, good catch. Caverna probably too
Food Chain Magnate and if you feel like it, other Splotter games such as The Great Zimbabwe, Bus,… and just released Horseless Carriage.
I've been on the fence about Northgard, pls do that one :)
King's Dilemma seems like it could eventually find a slot in your next "3 second board games" video if you can't see yourself doing a full 3 minutes on it :)
It might be a game i do a different type of review for. Just because of spoilers for the story and because its roleplay heavy
We reviewed the original Chai and it was pretty hollow for me. BB is more likely i reckon
I want to see Hamlet, The Spill, Go, backgammon, manhattan project (because the war machine kickstarter)… and def your cull video!!
"manhattan project (because the war machine kickstarter)"
Can you explain that as i don't get the context.
Fab
Re: Unbroken, it's meant to be decent, and indeed the designer sounds like they're decent as well.
Golden Bell are *&%^&!!
Would love to see Flashpoint, Chaos Order, Northgard, Nemisis Lockdown, any of the Centry Golem series and Russian Railroads ( the re-print is out) so will add value.
Is the RR reprint just a reprint? So it looks the same
@3 Minute Board Games looks the same. Appears they have reprinted it, added another expansion, and put it all in one box. Now branded Ultimate Railroads.
It’s a real shame that Quantum is out of print. It’s quite a clever game that I recommend even if you don’t review it.
Would love to see the unbroken video if possible.
PLEASE do a 3 minute video of High Frontier 4 All with all modules. Yes, including module 3. You'll get the views from people just to see what you can pull off!
Spoilers for "the games i got rid of in 2022" video. HF4A was on the shelf and is no longer
EDIT: Guess I should have posted before I went through the video 🙂
EDIT EDIT: FYI, Intrepid is in retail. It's a pretty good game IMHO, would be interested to hear your opinion on it. It hasn't really gotten much reviewer attention but the BGG ratings are solid.
Quantum is outstanding!
Push is s great little push your luck game. You should try it. The box is shit to, mine lives in a deck box.
Modern Classics (also a few party games I think would drive traffic) good Intro Games as it were to round your 4 to a top 10. Maybe a single 30 min video to go over these 10 games. Letting people know what they are getting if they buy them.
Dixit
Codenames
King of Tokyo
Small world
Stone Age
7 Wonders
I would like to see a Clank Catacombs with the expansion 3 minute.
Flamecraft
Heat: Pedal to the Medal
Bad Company
Heat: Pedal to the Medal still hasn't arrived on our shores, yet im hearing so much good about it
Strong piece of advice for a first play of Food Chain Magnate: two player or at most three player for the first game. Probably lose, but learn the game. The game is otherwise too long for a first play.
I had heard this. Mostly due to your first game you will likely effectively lose on turn 1
@@3MBG I had a first game again CM. Asked him if he wanted advice at all. He said basically "no, go as hard as you can, l'll lose but I'll learn". We stopped a turn before the end. He would have earned $3 that last turn, which would have been his first money of the game 🙂
You can lose first turn, but shouldn't unless you don't do one of the two valid openings (three with expansion).
Just my 5 cents, I'd be keen to see V-Sabotage. I feel that has been out for awhile. Was it called V-Commandos? Anyways, looking forward to seeing that in the future. May need to order a copy too.
It was v-commandos, but they recently reprinted and re-did it as v-sabotage.
I know it may be late but Northgrad, Looks really interesting and I want to know your thoughts
Stay tuned, should be out in a few weeks
