DNA is one of their more pop-y songs, but they have songs in a lot of genres, to the point that no one BTS song really sounds like any of the others, and it’s hard to judge them by one song. This is partially because all 7 of them write songs for the group, plus their company has a few in house song writers that also write songs for the group, and each person’s song writing style or preferred genre is different. Which is also how BTS ended up with well over 300 songs in their discography in the just under 8 years since they debuted.

The usage of bits of English in Kpop is popular not because of American fans but because of International fans. English is still the most globally used language in the world, not just in the US. And BTS has fans all over the world. From Tokyo, Italy, Hong Kong to Brazil.

Hi ! Usually BTs refers to ARMY as being their "she", "you", "her" but they dismissed gender related pronouns as they include diversity in their songs. So DNA can be seen as a love song, and as a song abt ARMY/BTS bond or as a song about every other relationship that happen to be fated in this world. Korean lyrics/words have many various meanings and depth that English or latin languages can't even translate, so most of the time translations are vague or just scrape the surface. To get accurate more in depth translations refer to doolsetbangtan or other official bilingual translators, so you can dive properly into BTS true lyrical power !! Have a great day !!

Yeah, its not just romantic love that could be preordained or destined... Platonic soulmate bonds exist, or at least I believe they do.. one example is vmin being soulmates in a platonic way. Like their song 'Friends' about their friendship and how they are soulmates.

I liked your open-minded reaction. BTS are actually the most versatile group you can imagine and their discography is endless as they have been around for eight years. You will be surprised when you find out that their roots are actually in hip-hop and three of the members are highly skillful rappers. I suggest you watch Mic Drop next for a BTS hip-hop track and Persona for a rap track by member RM. By the way, BTS are storytellers. This song is actually part of a story arc that comprises three albums that explore the different forms/stages of love. DNA's idea of destined love is at the beginning of that story arc, which explores darker sieds of love in other tracks and ends with the epiphany that true love needs to start with being true to yourself and loving yourself first.

Yes they include an English phrase here and there for marketing purposes. All kpop groups do it too. It makes it easier for English speaking fans when singing along in concerts. But it's not really necessary with BTS, because fans memorize most songs and sing with them. They're always amazed by their effort. I've never been to a concert but I've learned a lot of their songs 🤗🤗. BTS is a very talented band, with 7 young South Korean men. Three incredible rappers and four amazing singers. They write and produce a lot of their songs, they sing while performing intense choreos, they have a great stage presence and their shows are on another level. I hope you keep reacting to them, at least you'll have the chance of experiencing BTS. Have a nice day💜

    • @taptaphello123
      @taptaphello123 3 года назад +8

I never saw them throwing in English for marketing purposes. I speak another language as well and sometimes you just can't find the words to say and have to say it in English. I honestly thing it's for creative songwriting purposes since you know RM uses both Korean and English rhyme schemes in his bars.

    • @LM-ws6ux
      @LM-ws6ux 3 года назад +10

@@alekkaparedes3259 I think there's a bit of misconception here. Using English phrases in Korean music industry is not really for the international marketing purposes. Yes, it can be used for that purpose but, it is not the main purpose. Using English phrases has been around even before K-pop were targeting international audience. Although most Koreans are not very fluent in spoken English, they are quite familiar with English to certain degree (due to mandatory school education), and they sometimes playfully mix some simple English phrases here and there for fun. It kinda became like a trend to mix English in lots of K-pop song because it felt somewhat "exotic" to Koreans. K-pop going international happened AFTER that. Also, K-pop singers using lots of colorful hair and colored lenses, and eye surgery, etc. is NOT because to look more western. To them it's like just wearing a different clothes/fashion, rather than going for the Caucasian look. That's why they have lots of funky hair colors like red, purple, blue, and so on rather than just blonde. Same goes for colored lenses. There's also some misconception about eye surgery and skin colors too. Even before any western influence came to Korea, having big eyes and pale skin has been historically regarded as beautiful. Most people in Korea prefer lighter skin, but on the contrary to what many believe, they do NOT prefer Caucasian pale skin. Korean prefer lighter-tone Asian skin that can be achieved by not getting much sun exposure. For them, Caucasian's skin tone are too 'pink.' Hope people do not get confused when they see pale K-pop singers and think that they want to look western. In many cultures around the world, paler skin has been regarded highly throughout history, even within European culture.

BTS currently have 3 videos with over 1 Billion views; DNA, Boy with Luv and Dynamite. These are their most poppy radio friendly songs, and they don't even begin to scratch the surface if how talented BTS actually are. Other music videos I recommend are ON ( Kinetic Manifesto is best) Black Swan, Blood Sweat and Tears, N.O., Spring Day, Not Today, Persona, Shadow and Ego...
And all of their songs that don't have corresponding music videos are a whole deep dive journey. Also their lyrics are so important too, many of their songs have deeper meanings that have helped and inspired many people around the world. And if you like great performances there is no end when it comes to BTS, they are always finding new ways to perform their songs.

The group consist of 7 people... 3 rappers, and 4 vocalists.....and 2 of them are exceptional dancers and all them are great dancers.
The 3 rappers (RM, Suga and J-Hope) have individual rap mix tapes...and they also have group raps such as their Cyphers (there are 4)...and Ddaeng, and others.RM is the leader of BTS and he's the only one fluent in English, he has collaborated with Wale , Warren G, Lil Nas X , Krizz Kaliko and also with Fall Out Boy. RM's rap songs are Joke, Change (with Wale) and many more. Suga (aka Agust D) rapped in "Daechwita" ... J-Hope, also a rapper has a song : Chicken Noodle Soup..and others. Each of The vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook) have their own solo works also. BTS have collaborated with Nicky Minaj and Juice WRLD, among others. When they first debuted in 2013, they were slated to become a hip hop group, and at the beginning of their career they went to L.A for a reality program and were taught about hip hop by Coolio and Warren G. But at the end the CEO debuted them as an Idol group. I'd recommend you to react to Mic Drop, Black Swan and ON Kinetic Manifesto for starters... DNA is... very poppy LOL.

BTS consists of 7 members (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) and are currently the biggest group in the world (they were the best selling music artists in the world in 2020 and are the best selling artists of all time in South Korea). They started formation in 2010 and officially debuted in 2013. Their names are Jin age 28 vocalist, Suga age 28 rapper, J-Hope age 27 rapper, RM age 26 group leader and rapper (also the only member fluent in english), Jimin age 25 vocalist, V age 25 vocalist, and Jungkook age 23 vocalist. BTS has over 200 songs in their discography covering all genres such as hiphop, rnb, pop, edm, latin, jazz, and neo-soul. They are also known for their lyrics and important messages in their songs. BTS has had 3 number 1 songs and 5 number 1 albums in the US and were nominated for a grammy this year. Their song Dynamite which came out last year was their first fully english song and broke the record of the most viewed video on youtube in 24 hours with 101.1 million views. Thank you for giving BTS a listen and being respectful. Also if you are interested BTS is releasing their 2nd fully english song/music video called Butter on May 21st.

Welcome to the Rabbit Hole. BTS is based in Hip-hop and R&B, but they have songs in pretty much every popular genre. There are 7 members, all serve a different purpose within the group and the group including 3 rappers (2 which started on the underground rap scene). Check out the Cyphers as well as the older music (No More Dream, We are Bulletproof, Hip Hop Phile and Born Singer) to understand their Hip-Hop/R&B foundation. It's still very much in their music, especially in the B-sides, but Black Swan and Mic Drop are a must as well as Dynamite and On (both Kinetic Manifesto and MV). 💜

The English parts are partly due to marketing purposes, but with BTS it's definitely more for aesthetic purposes. They put in English words or phrases when it compliments the beats and the flow more. Also, direct translation from Korean to English is kind of difficult so when it's hard to express something in Korean, they'll put it in English and vice versa. Like in the song SUGA says "real love" in English because in Korean that phrase is four syllables as opposed to in English it is only two.

Hi! BTS has many songs of many genres like hiphop R&B EDM ballads and more. generally their songs include raps, because 3 of them are rappers, 4 singers. *I suggest "ON kinetica manifesto" "MIC DROP" "FAKE LOVE"* I'm sure that if you don't like one song you will like another, they are totally different. One characteristic of them is that they are very involved in the composition and production of their songs. It is not common in these groups. When you hear a song from them for the first time you never really know what to expect, they always surprise, they are constantly trying new genres or mixing genres in their songs.
If you want to hear some where the 3 rappers are rapping together I suggest the CYPHER (3 is my fav) "TEAR" "DDAENG" "UGH" if you see you react to these last 2 you will need an explanatory video, because there is a lot of game of words, symbolisms etc, such as the same word has more than 5 different meanings)

Seeing that you have hip hop in your creator name, I'm gonna recommend you check out more BTS stuff from the rap line:
-- RM "Joke" and "Intro: Persona"
-- J-Hope "Airplane" and "Chicken Noodle Soup" (ft. Becky G)
-- Suga "Interlude: Shadow"; as *Agust D "Daechwita" and "Agust D"
*Agust D is Suga's alter ego when he does solo projects.
All of the tracks listed above have MVs (music videos), so they have English subtitles available. The rap line also has some awesome tracks that they do together, but there are no official MVs for them; you can usually find lyric videos or live performances, but the latter won't necessarily have captions. Specifically, I recommend:
    -- Ugh!
    -- Ddaeng
    -- Cypher Medley 1-4 (or the individual cyphers in full, numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4) :)
BTS debuted in 2013, and their first few EPs and mini albums have a lot more obvious hip hop influence. You should check out:
-- No More Dream (their debut single and first MV they ever made)
    -- We Are Bulletproof Pt.2
    -- N.O
There; that should keep you busy. LOL!

    Yes please, more BTS.
You got some good comments from people, telling you a lot of good things.
You could react to any of their tracks, performances, practices, backstages, or MV shooting sketches, and I would be happy. Range of talents in sound, words, and movement, high commitment and work ethic, kindness, and humor, are some of the prime characteristics of BTS. In my opinion, they're a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Their practices, backstages, and so on, are on their BangtanTV channel. (If you find a video there that you like that doesn't have closed captioning, see if there is a copy of it over on the fan channel Bangtan Subs, which often takes a copy and adds English subtitles.)
They shift genres. They'll even mix genres in a single song. They're great at integrating vocals and rap. They started out as hip-hop, and their 3 rappers even now give them genuine fire. Their 4 vocalists can rap a little, and the 3 rappers can sing a little. They do a lot of their own writing, and some of their own production. All of them do solo work, too, some of it outside the label, although approved by the label.
Their work is complex, multi-layered, rich, and never never boring.
Here's an example of them doing production for a unit performance of their track Ddaeng. The original video on BangtanTV does not have English closed captioning. This copy from Bangtan Subs does have English subtitles. (Hoping my adding this link to the comment does not cause it to be flagged as spam.)

Also here is a short collection of kpop/bts slang since you will probably read a lot and not understand:
    ✨ARMY = The BTS fandom
✨Bias = The member that excites you the most, the one you favour
✨Bias-wrecker = a particular member who often comes through and excites you more than your bias in a performance
✨Bias-wrecked = another member has temporarily “wrecked” your bias favour 🤣 happens regularly
✨OT7 = you love all the members equally! Note: you can absolutely be OT7 but still have a bias and bias-wrecker, it doesn’t mean you love any of the members less 💜 for example I am OT7 but my overall bias is Jimin, my rapline bias is Suga, and my bias-wrecker is Jungkook.
✨ArmyBomb = the BTS specific Lightsticks you can purchase that connect via Bluetooth at concerts, you’ll see them in the audience at live performances.

This is more pop oriented. They do many genre, and to start, check out their very first debut MV No More Dreams. Their first few albums were more hip hop oriented as that was the influence on most of the Kpop groups at that time. They have evolved to what they are now, but they can still put out different genre, depending on what they feel like doing.

The song itself describes how me and my boyfriend met via fate and the universe and this song is so beautiful and the mv just catches your eye with all the different colours also the choreo is a nothing thing I mean it's amazing yet complicated but all in all this song just gets stuck in ur head especially the whistle

You can check also live performance . I think of MMA ( Melon Music Award, Asian award ) 2019 with the insane performance of Dyonisos . It’s a long video but you can make several part or don’t mind because we don’t mind long video.
But before live, I suggest you to watch few mv first.

I love pretty much all their songs...the sound, lyrics, concepts behind them.
Looked from your other reactions, you like rap. BTS's RM & SUGA (aka AgustD) were both underground rappers b4 they were BTS. J-hope is the other rapper & was a successfull street dancer b4 joining the group.
Each of the 7 member does solo material, as well as Rapline only and Vocal line only songs.
MIC Drop ft. Steve Aoki is a good starting point for the more hip-hop sound.
Be sure to checkout these rap songs:
SUGA: AgustD ... Daechwita ... Shadow
    RM: Joke ... Seoul
    J-Hope: Airplane ... Daydream
Rapline: Outro: Tear ... Ddaeng ... UGH! ...

Once you start going down the BTS rabbit hole, there's no coming back! Welcome! Great reaction. It's always nice to see more people appreciate these talented artists! 💜💜💜
For their more rap based songs, I'd recommend:
    Mic Drop
The Cypher series 1-4 (lyric videos available and a must, because they spit straight 🔥)
Ddaeng (the unofficial 5th cypher) There's also a live version of Ddaeng where the vocal line does the song, and it's very entertaining.
Outro: Tear (watch the live version with lyrics! The song is also very powerful, when you know that this was written when they were thinking about disbanding.)
    Interlude: Shadow
    Daechwita
    Baepsae (Silver Spoon)
If you do Ddaeng, Daechwita or Baepsae, I highly recommend to also watch DKDKTV's explained by a Korean for relevant context that flies over the head of non-Koreans and makes the songs that much better, once you fully understand the history and word play.
Other songs you might enjoy: Blood, Sweat and Tears, ON Kinetic Manifesto, Black Swan, there's a Dimple + Pied Piper live version that's so good.
BTS lyrics on the whole are something to definitely pay attention to. Their songs and videos are full of symbolism and deeper meaning.

In regards to the english you will here in a lot of kpop music with a little history lesson: modern day spoken Korean is very heavily influence by the English language. They use a lot of "loan words" from the English language and this is due in part because as we all know during the Korean war, China backed the north and the US backed the south. 1953 was when the war ended, but American troops have always been in and out of South Korea. Flash forward to modern South Korea and now the language is heavily made up of loan words. For example, "cell phone" is 핸드폰 (haen-deu-pon) which sounds like "hand phone". Another example is "ice cream" being 아이스크림 (a-i-seu-keu-rim). Now, what you're hearing in kpop isn't just loan words, it's them using straight up English. Why? A couple reasons:
    1. English is a mandatory 2nd language class in school in South Korea (however that doesn't mean everyone is fluent as just like with any second language class we take in school, you need to study hard and use it frequently to become good at it, but most people don't). At best, more SK students just get the basics down from this mandatory class (I.e. hello, how are you, I'm fine and you, have a nice day).
    2. Most Western things are available and extremely popular in East Asia. Western sitcoms like Friends, western movies like the Marvel series, and western music like Lady Gaga or Drake. So naturally, some Koreans pick up a lot of English phrases from these things.
    3. IT IS TRENDY. This is the most basic answer, English is the trend now-a-days in kpop. You'll be hard pressed to find a kpop song that doesn't have any English lyrics. This is just a way to appeal to broader audiences (since English is not just limited to the US, Canada, and the UK. English is spoken....well, just about anywhere) and this way they can reach the world's audience and not just Korea. Some kpop acts have made all English albums even.
Okay now that I've bored you to death (I seem to have a lot of time on my hands to write this comment 😂) I will say that only 1/7 members of BTS is fluent in English and that is RM. The rest know a little bit and understand some.
Anyways, hope you react to more! 😜

    black swan

    fake love
    mic drop
just some more info on them , they have been around since 2013, originally started as a hip hop group but have pretty much done almost every genre of music and dont limit their albums to any specific genre. Unlike western music groups, some members have done their own solo work , which you should definitely check out.
You should maybe do a reaction to an introduction video to them just to learn more about them and each individual member as well.

I checked out your channel and it seems that you like Rap. My friend you just hit GOLD! BTS has 3 of the best rappers in the world. Most of the recommendations are for 'Mic Drop' and 'ON:Kinetic Manifesto Film' (which I agree with 100%) but if you do want more rap I would suggest...
    JHope - Chicken Noodle Soup
    RM - Joke
AgustD - AgustD (note: in BTS he is known as Suga but in his solo work he goes by AgustD)
PS I know it is too early to say this yet - but if you react to more BTS - there are explained videos that help with understanding the context since some of the word play and cultural references can be lost in translation. But these things are not crucial to enjoying the music - they just help you realize how GENIUS these guys really are.

If you’re a Hip Hop Head you’ll love the BTS rap line 👌🏽 Suga (known as Agust D in his solo stuff), Rm, and J-Hope, they’re absolutely fierce. They do GREAT social commentary pieces like ‘UGH!’ And ‘Strange’ (if you do UGH! Please please also watch the “ugh! explained” video for it by DKDKTV! there’s a lot of Korean references in there that us international fans don’t see until you watch the explained and then it blows your mind). They do DOPE fuck-the-haters pieces, Suga (Agust D) and RM are the kings of pouring salt on the wounds of malicious rappers careers 😂💜, J-hope is SUCH a different vibe from RM and Suga and it just works so well.
    My fave Rapline tracks are:
-Outro:Tear (not about a romantic relationship, Suga wrote it when the band was seriously considering breaking up at one point. His pain is absolutely palpable in the lyrics. Apparently BTS all cried when they listened to it the first time. Fiercest live: ruclips.net/video/UJSDI8iYh6Y/видео.html)
-THE PERSONA/SHADOW/EGO SOLOS all based off of jungian psychology. RM speaks on the Persona, Suga speaks on the Shadow, and J-hope speaks on the Ego. ( RM Persona - ruclips.net/video/M9Uy0opVF3s/видео.html Suga Sadow - ruclips.net/video/PV1gCvzpSy0/видео.html Jhope Ego - ruclips.net/video/LmApDbvNCXg/видео.html )
    -UGH! (Song: ruclips.net/video/y-0QlQH5d3Y/видео.html Explained: ruclips.net/video/Cq3nGiu0_gI/видео.html )
-Ddaeng (watch the explained for this too to really understand the immense wordplay going on here! It’s so impressive 😂 Song: ruclips.net/video/Qh9tDmeuJoo/видео.html Explained: ruclips.net/video/fdJl1SL03Ac/видео.html )
-Cypher pt 2 (my fav cypher but they’re all great)
Then there is their phenomenal solo stuff outside of BTS (albums which they release for free for ARMY since we are so supportive of them in BTS 😭💜) .... 🤯

Hi , thank you for listening to bts 💜
    Intro:
BTS = Bangtan Seoyeondan (in Korean) aka Bulletproof Boy Scouts (translated)
    Yes, 7 talented members
    (3 rappers & 4 vocalists).
    💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
    Back to DNA
    👇💜
It is a song about fate and destiny and the concept of YOU ARE WHAT YOU ARE. Accept yourself because you can't change who you are fundamentally(DNA).
    💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
    Here's something for the beginners😉💜:
Turn on the CC (Eng sub). Wordplays are amazing that further understanding is needed.
For that, we tend to go for
    EXPLANATION VIDEOS or even THEORIES.
We'll let you know after each music reaction.
Watch BTS or any mixtape produced by
Big Hit Label / Bangtantv / Hybe
(HYBE is the new company's name ). You can start from there.
Always watch from start to the very end of each video. No skipping. Never ever assume video ends. (You might missed out on the crucial message)
WE 💜love💜 it if you get to know them by watching/reacting to :
Introduction to BTS - This is BTS pt.1
    by Xceleste
(There are many more but, this is the BASIC).
    Advise:
ARMYs tend to get excited once they find your channel and start requesting to react to the epic, LIVE performances or Award shows.
Do note, try not to watch the LIVE performance (such as MAMA OR MMA) too soon.
In my opinion, Live performances are best watched once you have seen the mv itself or at least know the songs before you see LIVE version . That way, your journey will be a lot more fulfilling/worthwhile.
Again, that was just my opinion.
You do your preferred way 💜
    It is your channel 💜
    Good luck!
    From Singapore
