Great video, and so well produced! Some of these 'how to' vids insist on doing everything in 'real time' which feels like watching a glacier melt. Thank you for posting this!

Just replaced the same inlet valve on our kenmore. Our replacement installed easily and works perfectly. Original problem code on the washer indicated a blocked inlet. After changing hoses and clearing the small metal screens, the problem remained. You could hear a wirring noise, but no water flow. It was the inlet valve assembly. Ordered a new one from Ebay. Done.

May I ask what kind of kenmore machine did you have? And what were the codes coming on? Thank you

The top of my Kenmore washer does not open via the putty knife trick. Instead, remove two screws at the rear of the washer, slide the whole top forward slightly, and lift/wiggle/coax the thing loose and raise it up. The lack of this one bit of missing information caused a world of grief and delay with this otherwise simple job.

Same applies for Maytag Bravos XL washer. Spent way too long with the putty knife before I learned I needed to remove the screws in the back and it slides forward.

Great video. Wish I read the comments: Putty knife does not open the top on a Maytag Bravos. Remove two top bracket screws on the rear, slide forward 1/4 inch to release the top. Other ideas: Take a picture of the wiring before unplugging all the color coded connectors. The red wire might be short, just bend the spade connectors or bend the red plastic quick connect so the wire has a shorter run. Finally, get some rust reformer and paint the bottom edge of the top sheet metal as this is a design flaw: your white items will come out rusty as the plain steel drip edge is not powder coated.

@@Honda1100ACE great comments. I did take a picture, and also I found the red wire was short, because my replacement assembly was spun around the other direction, and trying to reverse it didn't leave enough room.

I bought a new inlet valve but not the new wiring harness. Can I get some help finding it. I've looked on the web site and can't seem to find one. Any help would be great.

My harness for the Whirlpool WTW6800WW1 has soldered in terminals for the wiring harness. The one I ordered to replace it looks to be the same so I guess I'm ok.

Hi I ran my diagnostic test and the water was running way to fast into the bleach container and its over flowing and causing it to rust everything its gets into the lip of the lid and now that's all rusted . How do I control the water flow that goes into the bleach container . In the test it runs and stops as it should its just letting to much water in to fast . The container outlets are not stopped up they are clean and open .What controls the water flow amount to each container ? The other two water flow amount is not causing the containers to over flow . I was thinking about getting a shut off valve and just putting it in the water line and closing it off till it filled the container but didn't over flow it during the test .

Do you know what the problem could be when the washer is draining the water for a short minutes and then it begin to dispense water While and during the draining cycle and while washer is draining? Was it bc I really need to replace the water inlet or it really is something else that I need to do?

  • @dougb8207

I wish I had seen this video before I did my project. My issue was sometimes after completing loads, the water would continue to drip. Usually another fast rinse cycle would stop the leak, but it always happened on my very last load, and the extra cycle wasted water. I tried to just replace the assembly from the back, but it wouldn't come out (I didn't know there were hose clamps underneath), so I ended up just popping off the coils and swapping the ones from the new assembly in place of the old ones. I'm hoping that fixes the problem. If there's something inside the actual sealed plastic valve open/close assembly, I'll have to go back and revisit the job.

Are all the fill valves interchangeable between maytag, whirlpool, and kenmore? The reason I ask is my maytag part costs way more than a Whirlpool part. When I search part number though they both keep popping up on Google

Why is mine leaking by the valve connections? Water is gushing out from the cold water side underneath the circle part by the purple connector if that makes sense.

my guess is bad o ring. I noticed when replacing the whole valve that they turn a little. I'm betting when that happens, the whole thing has to be replaced. I'm not sure though!
