Both released in 2003, Papa's Got A Brand New Guinea also starts the same way with the original sample from Dead can Dance, and was spun out way more than this. It is a bit more rare to find these days as well. It was done by Nu Tone and uncredited since it wasn't cleared.
Papau New Guinea was just one of those tracks that absolutely defined my introdution to the club scene. Everytime I hear this it just takes me back. Such an epic tune.
I first found this tune in about 2003 as a ringtone then tracked it down and it turned out to be a version of this remix. Amazing tune this one, from the best era of drum n bass in my opinion!
well neat deffo a favorite must be well rare never heard this before and ive got all the albums for fsol and high contrast, beautiful mixing bewteen the ultimate in old school english rave and new drum and bass scene wonderful track!!!!!!!
I have to say that those first few songs you listen to when on the up are the songs that you will remember for the rest of your life. This was one of them, along with Underworld - Born Slippy (the drum section tipped me over that high edge) and Energy 52. I'm STILL listening to those songs today. *Sighs* I miss those days.
High Contrast = Genius, just getting a bit worried bout all these old "classic" tunes being rehashed with a fat break!! I like D&B because its new and fresh, great remix but its never gonna have the impact on the dancefloor that it had in 92! My word I still have 3 copies of this tune on 12" vinyl and they still get played!!!
I absolutely loved the original but high contrast have done a top job turnin this into a drum and bassy track, I thought Chase and status were good High Contrast are on a higher level!!!!!
The brasses are from the original tune which FSOL used in PNG... The vocals are Lisa Gerrard in her Dead can Dance times... So it makes absolutely sense to use these brasses in the remix... I recommend you inform yourself a little more instead of trolling around.
@mouldysockmuncher Sir, you ahve pretty much said EXACTLY what I was going to say. Specilly the Hybrid part. Anyone that listen to hybrid is a prince among men! I love all the new DnB artists. but this had that.....Old school touch which is just.....godlike... This. is. Drum. and. bass.
The first time I ever took ecstacy this song was playing in the car while we were driving out to the city. My friends asked how are you feeling? (They had taken it before). I could only reply PRETTY FUCKING GOOD MAN.
why not high contrast have bought this tune back and revamped it for the newer generation to appreciate...old one sounds a bit slow comapered to this now...both excellent though.
thanks, i managed to get it as an mp3, and then found the Evol Intent Remix of papua New Guinea, it's possibly better than this high contrast version. worth checking out
Nah its beefed up and theyve added more drums to it. I'd rather hear a classic remixed like this rather than ripping it the death. I usually hate remixes of old skool tunes but this is great.
YAWN micheal jackson!... i would not want to take musical advice from radio one, i think this is a great remix of a great song. i do prefer the original, but i can shake my ass to this one more.
the production on this track is clearly above and beyond a synth drumkit and a crappy digital osc synth on FL. The compression alone is masterful, but of course, you already knew that, master producer...:S

Lincoln is a sweetheart. He can make a remix of any song better than anyone else.
Especially love the breakbeat part of this tune :)
Agree on that!
omg, I never knew the name of the song but I heard it years ago. thanks for the memory lane trip...
High Contrast is the best D&B producer ever I swear! He stays current but true to himself at the same time.
SICK remix. Am a big drum n bass listener as well as a lifelong FSoL fan. High Contrast got it 100% with this one!
I allways loved so much the FSOL but this is massive! Thks!
well neat deffo a favorite must be well rare never heard this before and ive got all the albums for fsol and high contrast, beautiful mixing bewteen the ultimate in old school english rave and new drum and bass scene wonderful track!!!!!!!
this is the shiznit, wish I could go back in time, damn how I miss those days.......

THIS REMIX WAS A CLASSIC ON THE MIAMI DNB DANCEFLOOR! Great summer and winter music conference memories....
High Contrast = Genius, just getting a bit worried bout all these old "classic" tunes being rehashed with a fat break!! got this one on one-sided 12" vinyl...instant classic.
i bet that was the intended effect. i love the original so much and for once a remix of a classic that's not completely fucked. excellent.
Sorry, found it now. That's the one I was looking for all the time! Nu Tones version is sick!
i get shivers
masterpiece!
looove it
BRILLIANT REMIX OF A TUNE THAT WAS ALREADY EARLY BREAKBEAT
This is the most complete upload of this track on RUclips, the rest are all rips etc! Wouldn't happen to have it in higher quality though eh?
This remix has been out since 2003. That time was actually one of my first getting-to-knows of HC.
One of my fav tracks on 12" - works really well with this one Mampi Swift track I picked up, too. ;)
The Goth start is Dawn Of The Iconoclast by Dead Can Dance from Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun
Paul Woolstenholmes Thank you kind sir!
I love it! I love 4:09 part the best, but altogether, what a choon!
Remixed classic that will be another classic!
Grandisimo!!!!
This is first class
fairly sure it's only on vinyl, might be able to find it somewhere. but the Catalog number for the vinyl is DAONE 001, one sided vinyl.
fukin love this tune.i herd it on a hihtcontrast set frm 2001 n i still never get bored ov listenin to it
I am dare enough to say: a nice way to the past and future.
I absolutely loved the original but high contrast have done a top job turnin this into a drum and bassy track, I thought Chase and status were good High Contrast are on a higher level!!!!!
Fuck this is a great version. The kick-drum delivers. Jesus christ this rocks.
This is a great track..I think it retains the feel of the original even tho its a totally different genre of music
I got a uber rare one sided white label promo of this!
mrisor892 you are so lucky
anticipate jordan dont i know it, I got it as a present years ago.
Wish i had got it for a present lol
mrisor892 I have the same pressing sitting in my record bag in my bedroom closet....slaps face...sold turntables years ago....
Richard Dunn you can always get another set of turntables bro but the choonz are sacred and you still got em' so its all good! :)
This track proper reminds me of back in the dayz hard!! Remember this track when i was ravin in sidewinder fucki luv it!!!!!
imagine a 200m x 200m cube, everything plain white, with a soundsystem from the year 3341, playing this, and your in the centre of the cube.
*drool*

His best rmx imo. Brave as well.
just the best
amazing HC mix ;)

I love all the new DnB artists. but this had that.....Old school touch which is just.....godlike...
This. is. Drum. and. bass.
"What were going to do right here is go back, way back, back into time..." Damn... 5:01 then the bass drops... Take me away...
best ever....
good shit!
yeah simply EP1C
The first time I ever took ecstacy this song was playing in the car while we were driving out to the city. My friends asked how are you feeling? (They had taken it before).
I could only reply PRETTY FUCKING GOOD MAN.
high contrast is the daddy when it comes to DnB
This is the sound of God
taking me back to Depth 2 at the Roxy
why not high contrast have bought this tune back and revamped it for the newer generation to appreciate...old one sounds a bit slow comapered to this now...both excellent though.
in its own genre a big bad and heavy tune
thanks, i managed to get it as an mp3, and then found the Evol Intent Remix of papua New Guinea, it's possibly better than this high contrast version. worth checking out

If that's the case good sir I believe you should provide a link.
didn't fabio played this one on one of his bbc radio 1 shows?
sick, how can i get this on cd, is that possible?
First time i dropped came up to this tune in fabric, best 5 minutes of my fuckin life!
If you like experimental music, just try TACUARA NOD, available on youtube
the original tune is soo oldschool! and it is hard to make a good remix
This is what DnB is all about... Who needs drugs when you have this????
(although they do make it better)
YAWN micheal jackson!... i would not want to take musical advice from radio one, i think this is a great remix of a great song. i do prefer the original, but i can shake my ass to this one more.
as radio1 said about michael jacksons billy jean stand back and never never remix the original version..it was a ground breaking tune as this was..
massive tune... i have a nu tone mix which is equally as awesome.
fucking awesome
@cun7us drop this into bad company true romance, been DJing 9 years and still my favourite mix
the production on this track is clearly above and beyond a synth drumkit and a crappy digital osc synth on FL. The compression alone is masterful, but of course, you already knew that, master producer...:S
فين بقى جيمس كاميرون
Where is games Cameron !!!
الكبير في الليلة دي هو ومراته القديمة
:)
@FireWaypoint i dont know what you are trying to tell me.
got this on white lable vinyl, it sounds the same as this upload lol
FOUND D MP3 VERSION YAY
Why would u compare it to the original?
it's a remixed in a different genre, which really makes it a diff track alltogether.
Good effort i think
In my opinion HC does a better job at creating a mysterious atmosphere than nu:tone. I like both versions but this one is just so special
Fucken BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
