man, im starting to get more and more exited for ur videos
That's so nice! 🥰
@@SerasThings do u have any other socials I could follow?
They're all the video description but I stream games on twitch.tv/seraproto on Mondays, ruclips.net/user/seraproto for Wednesday and Friday streams, and if you haven't yet you can join the discord. discord.gg/39ZEYsCh9q
twitter.com/seraproto as well but I don't really make much there.
Thanks for 750 subs and 1000 right around the corner. Friday's video is a special one because it'll be my first commissioned video. The species owner of Celestial Guardian Dragons commissioned me to make a video about their species.
Wait, but arent most dinosaurs (especially raptors) warm-blooded?
It wasn't collectively agreed upon until just recently and the info on this species was from 2016. So yeah they'd be warm blooded and wouldn't have a need for magic.
Edit: The lore post about them probably just assumed lizard = cold blood. Also I didn't know this ty for correcting.
@SerasThings I mean, it's sometimes thought dinos could be a little bit of both, and birds are warm blooded, and with the gem raptors being based of theropod dinos, it can most likely be warm blooded. I searched out of curiosity, and accidentally discovered one lizard species is warm blooded, the argentine black and white tegu, which I found pretty interesting lol.
Where did you hear that?
@@CarlytheWolf23birds are warm blooded?!
@@SebastianSeanCrow yep! Most birds have higher body temps than mammals do.
IM SO HAPPY TO SEE GEM RAPTORS!!! I OWN LIKE 7!??? I really hope this video brings back the love to gem raptors.
Literally every species you cover I'm making an oc of, just because I can now. I've never wanted to read mountains of lore, so this series is a god send!! Also I love "everybatty" it gives me so much serotonin
This is a good comment.
I actually have my own original species I've been working on for 3 years. I don't see many "dumb" species out there, so my species (ekleips) have roughly the intelligence of a caveman and a baboon put together. I know you most likely won't respond, but I have an entire document on lore that is 10 pages long and counting. I have a lot of art of ekleips, but I'm still tweaking their anatomy before I rerelease them back into the public. I don't see many non canine/feline/dragon/raptor species out there. Ekleips are mostly based off baboons but are also a mix of a lot of other things. Probably to the point you can't tell lol. Please let me know if you'd be interested in knowing more about them. I can send over the document and some art if you like. Thank you for your time if you've read this.
You can join my discord community in the description and when you're finished you can run it by me then. Also I read all of the comments right now, I'm not too famous to respond, I'll save that for 100k subs. I am however pretty busy so I don't have much time to read up on every species that comes my way so please keep me in mind once it's finished. 💖
I do not have discord as of now, since my parents are restrictive with what social medias I use. I will be an adult this fall though, so I’ll be able to contact you through discord by then. I’m thinking I should have all my biology and anatomy notes done by December. I want to do animal and plant taxonomy as well, but that’s a whole other rabbit hole. I hope you don’t mind if it’s just about the main. species with some information here and there regarding the planet, plants, and native species.
I’ll definitely try and remember to get back to you in that when I finish. And then we can see things out from there. Thank you so much for reading.
i bet they had that outdated info because the species is so old, but most if not all theropods were warm blooded. check out Nanuqsaurus, yutyrannus and other arctic/northern dinosaurs!
I’m actually working on a “dumb as dirt” species called RemRams. They are sleep spirits born from children’s dreams. Although They’re less “dumb” and more just “No thoughts, head empty. Only happy vibes :3” they’re just little guys
I know this comment is like 7 months old but that idea is so cute
@@Rex_027 thx. I mean they get more intelligent as the kid gets older and becomes more capable of complicated thought. But they do start out as head empty little guys
They are cute, they remind me of like a yugioh monster or sumthin. Could have been more popular had it not fallen off like they did, and where more origonal.
I think they could have blown up too, it's starting to become a trope that creators are disappearing.
Why did I giggle at the su reference at the beginning 😭
I love Steven Universe for no apparent reason so I think I’m making a gem raptor sona 😮💨
There is another in the credits😉
@@SerasThings haha seeing stuff about a show I’m obsessed with makes me really happy for some reason lol
@@SerasThings your content is awesome
Thank you 😊
@@SerasThings ofc! I really appreciate that you like to teach about fur species, and without these, I wouldn’t know some species even exist!
I might. be giving this species a second look and making one of my own! I'm not normally crazy about fandom species but it helps that these are basically a variant of an animal that already existed as opposed to whatever the hell's going on with sergals or protogens. Plus I think the ice magic and glowy gems are fun from an aesthetic standpoint!
Ya know, I was watching this last night and doing my own little species, it motivated me to do more information and things on them so that one day they’d possibly be on this channel one day, love your stuff!
Make sure to message me when it is done and I'll take a look. But if you want in a video I'm going to need enough to make a video, so I'd need 10 pieces of art or so, lore, biology, social behaviors, and rules for making them, stuff like that.
I just started playing Furvilla and got a Morphing Potion for this species but am not really too into the species community, so I looked it up to be sure I followed species rules with my villager.
Still don't have much to go on, but I was planning on working the raptor into a loose reference/adapted character anyways so I can just alter based on what I do have.
Hey love the video! I might make a gem raptor in the future after I finish my current sona! If you ever find some info on dinodogs and its enough for a video that would be cool to watch as I’m not sure where they came from but their kind of interesting but the information i could find is very very little but its basically a manokit but no magic and just a squished dog and dinosaur together haha! Anyway have a great day or night!/
Do you have any leads for me to follow? Like links to what info you did find?
I love this series, its very informative and is great to just listen to so I don't have to dig into information myself.
i literally have only known gem raptors from my time beta testing furvilla. i knew that they were someone's original species like manokits dutchies and wickerbeasts, but outside of furvilla i havent seen ANYONE talk about them
I love the concept of a species that has passive glowing lights, and creates a dance to go with it. I really think this aspect could have made them really big with the raver furry scene! I like them a lot. It's a shame their creator is now absent.
airplane dragons are making a comeback because of vrchat, it would be cool to have a vid of them
I'm waiting to have the money to buy the model so I can do the video with the model.
@@SerasThings :000 cool beans! it would look nice with ur sona
7:31 Aww, that's actually pretty cute!
would love to see you cover Chimereons (by Seelmaru). Or perhaps the Grem controversy
I've got grem on the list already, I don't know about covering the 20k commission in detail though. Izzzyzzz has already made a video on it and I wouldn't be able to add anything new to it other than covering the species. Chimereons are interesting and I'll add them, I forgot about them.
I once made a species. It was a rabbit/bunny and plants like rose bush and such. It was a dumb little thing but it was cute.
Id love to see your take on spinks! They've moved off of amino so im hoping it'll be easier to find em :)
Welp. Yoshis are kinda Raptor like? ^^" Just admit it. :3 Raptors are cool and cute! :P
Nice video again. Hope you hit the 1K soon!
I actually have my own little species for like RP stuff. I call them halflings. Context: in my universe there are three worlds, world of living, world of dead, and world of end. The world of living is our irl world, where humans live out their days till their death. After death there are the other two worlds. The world of dead is basically like a second chance for those that either died from someone else’s hands or at a young age or never got to fulfill their desires. If none applies to a soul, they immediately go to the world of end.
Anyway, when a soul goes to the world of dead, there’s a rare chance that instead of becoming just another human-like being. They will instead be fused together with an animal that fits their personality, these are halflings. There’s a bit more like them being hunted down and also being weaker than regular human-like beings in certain ways but that’s the main jist of it. Oh, they also usually have darker skin tones and a certain color associated with them.
Not my species so I don't think I can place a commison on it but I'll request it anyways!
Qwuedeviv, QDV, or Deviv! (Kweh-dee-viv)
Their current owner is Sharkyfiend on DA and they are also the species creator and founder, and even started a long while back a book series about them, but the book series is now unavailable and so I'd personally ask Kate herself (Sharky) about that, but like some chapters of the book exist on her DA.
She has a lot of info on them, she has a species page, some visual species guides (not a lot), a website! That ran in flash... and info on their military as the species is basically invader Zim but alien cats, this info includes military uniforms, ranks, the leaders of their species, etc. But lacks info like major bases/HQs other than the MAIN main one, and any specific military branch heads, all known characters are or were supposed to at least some what relevent to story she was writer, the info or fancier the ref they were given, the more of main character they were.
Basically info on the species
Their alien cats with some shark like qauilities, gills instead of noses, multiple rows of teeth, etc. But often outwardly look like cats, ...usually. these physically agender/androgynous cats can in their younger years naturally adopt to their environments, with their appearences being a mix of their parents variants, and whatever environment they adapt to, which can lead to more shark like appearences or gain a different look.
The main five variants are: common, aqautic, tropical, desert and Arctic, but mixed, mutants, cyborgs, void, experiment, and unknown also exist and mostly exist in a weird state of semi off limits, with void and mutants being extremely rare and off limits for character making do to lore reasons. Additional, sub variants exist for the main five, like different types of forests for tropical, or different bodies of water for aqautic. These aren't off limits, but looking through official characters rarely are mentioned let alone touched up on lore wise.
I mentioned the species being physically agender/androgynous, they do technically have genders but it's on a chromosome level and considering they produce WITH THE POWER OF SCIENCE aka just test tube babies/cloning science even then they don't even matter. They don't have any biological gender differences besides these chromosomes, and the species tends to use it/they pronouns usually in canon with very few Devivs insist on he/her or any other sets of pronouns.
Theyre queer coded even further and get to have their own preferred/choosen name, while this name is merely a name an alias usually, and Devivs that don't tend to leave the planet sometimes strait up won't have one, culturally this name is treated like a second name, sometimes with this "invader name" being the main way to refer to an individual. Some examples of Invader names:
Commander Easy Cheese Revolution
Invader Coffee Cat
Invader Ick Ick Eew'I
Invader Licerace Gumdrop
Medic Pokyu Wif Nedle
Invader Spinage Stuffed Fish sticks (my favorite Deviv)
Invader Do not refrigerate
As you can see the invader names are often just quotes, phrases, refences and simialr nonsense. They apparently don't have a grasp on whats considered a regular name and their own language is based more on tone and body language, the how sometime is said rather than what's actually said and this something results in them throwing together utter gibberish so long as it rolls off the tongue well.
Random but they do not have magick powers, they can caste/create illusions, but this detail of their lore is rarly touched about when it comes to limits. Most Devivs tend to have a specific "element" their good at create illusions of, to make it seem like they have elemental powers. The main way their illusions are utilized is to make a mask like illusion to hide their face, something they will do around those they don't trust, often enemy militaries or strangers.
You can make requests without being the owner. I'll look into it and if there is enough there I'll add it to the list.
It's weird how many species say they're "raptor-shaped" but actually aren't at all. Both manokits and primagens have extremely mammalian body shapes. It would be more accurate to compare them to oversized rats than to raptors--their posture is more like a rat or maybe a lemur rearing up, too.
So i know this is an older video but i thought i would bring up my knowledge of the creator of gem raptors
The creator of gem raptors was the owner of furvilla (it is now sold to two different people) they are generally very secretly and currently own fursona pins
You actually featured their fursuit the fully white gem raptor with leds in the video
The name of the character is frostbite and used to be furvillas announcer npc!
If you can get a hold of them, can you send them this video?
@@SerasThingsunfortunately I don't have any contact with this person as well I doubt that gem raptors will ever be touched up and given new life
Also to bring more info to the table the creator made gembounds which are cats with gems and an extra pair of ears with even less info about them and are exclusively a closed species on furvilla ranging in price from 20 USD for standard birthday gems to the black rose gembound being 100 USD or more (due to no longer being sold)
Clearly they sold the rights to gembounds along with furvilla but it's interesting to me that they kind of double down on gems
And for an extra interesting fact
The reason why furvilla doesn't have sergal bases is because the sergal creator requested to be financially compensated for each sergal made on site using the paintie system (recolor system) the issue being that is incredibly difficult to ask as it's users creating these painties so no official sergal base rip
I didn't realize Cy actually owned Gem Raptors in the past -- I just thought he had the right to produce a pin of his OC in the Fursona Pins line (which has been done at least in two different bases with a couple variants). The character (Frostbite?) is still talked about occasionally in the Telegram chats for FP, but it's more so about the pin itself versus people being interested in the species at all.
I’ve been working on a dumb as dirt species myself, but I have nowhere near the reach, technical know-how *or* time to really invest in em. Not to mention they look almost too similar to Vernids that got blended up with wickerbeasts
Oh wow, I used to have one them!
I forgot about them since I left fb
Actually kinda cute :3
But meh... I still feel like rabbits are the coolest 🐰 Shameless species plug
Ooo gimme that
Can you do mochi raptors?
Oh these are cute. They kind of remind me of grem in the head shape. I have a few videos planned right now but I'll add them to the list.
@@SerasThings Thanks!
10 bucks says that this species started bc of someone’s corrupted gem OC
A- omg wait..
Maybe. Kind of crazy though. Before I even knew these were a species used to draw something like them in sketchbooks. This was way before SU came out. Though they weren't sentient.
Wow gem raptors sounds better than the crystal gems
I was born in 2013 September lol
I'm making my own original species.
It is an open species(and not very much a furry based species- If that makes any sense whatsoever-), and I'm just kinda in the first phase of "I know what I want it to look like, and I have a bulk of the lore, but I'm still gonna need to add on to it just a little bit."
But I wanted to know if anyone would be able to give some advise of where I can easily share them?
(Preferable somewhere that's not DA, or Toyhouse, as I don't/can't make an account for either site. Any advise is welcome!)
Technically they would exhibit true hermaphroditism, in addition to intersex as an umbrella term. Pretty neat
Hi!✌️
Hello 👋
I'll make a dumb species for you!
Nahhhhh I’m spooderman
No hate at all I promise but, dinosaurs are actually birds and not reptiles 😅😅
Dinosaurs are reptiles, and birds are also technically reptiles. Birds came from dinosaurs, not the other way around.
Hate😡😡😡😡😡
