Kenya: Aquaponics, produce more in less space

- Daniel Kimani is an industrial engineering graduate. In a greenhouse of 1500 m2, he rears fish, and grows fruits and vegetables.
According to Daniel, with his greenhouse of just 1500m2, the productivity with the aquaponics system is like cultivating on one acre of land. In addition, his aquaponics system is powered by solar energy during the day and a bio-generator during the night. So, he is making use of green energy.
“We don’t depend on the paid energy, we have solar and biogas. And also, the plants don’t require fertilizer, so the cost of production stands only for a technician,” says Daniel.
"THE MORE YOU KEEP ON DOING SOMETHING CONSISTENTLY WITH PATIENCE, THE MORE YOU COULD LEARN"
Words of the day.
Such a humble and soft spoken man. Well done to him and his team👍🏾
Congratulations to my fellow African brother, this is the way to go. Self sustainable and on the same time eco friendly.
I'm ready to invest in the rebirth of the wealthiest continent on earth. KEEP WAKING UP AFRICA!!!!!!!!
Hello
One's level of education should not ever be a limit to his creativity and possibilities in life. Listening to Daniel, one will see that although he might not have been educated at the highest level of education, he has however been able to come up with something creative and even solutions to his society's problems. Kudos Aquaponics... Africa is proud of you 😊👍👍
Great video. I wish colleges had degree programs for this kind of food production. Graduates would have a skill which is always in demand and would produce healthy food everyone wants.
Colleges in CA are getting on board so Aquaponics courses. There will be numerous employment opportunities in the fields of Aquaponics and Hydroponics. Please check with colleges near you. If there are no such courses at colleges near, then make the suggestion. It can't hurt.
It's an irrigation system with fish in the water. If you need college for that you're tarded lmao
Check out my school, Niagara college greenhouse technician!
@@unclephil4112 😂 Colleges will turn it into a money making platform. It's better making it this way, interested people will chase and work on the dream.
What an intelligent man!!! I love my Africa!!!
Brilliant! Innovation is the currency of the 21st century.
Amazing work guys! Great to see you guys being entrepreneurial and understanding the importance of being green minded. Nothing but respect to you guys 🙂
Thanks Daniel Kimani for being sure a good mentor and pacesetter for the Kenyan youth, who so many are searching entrepreneurial ventures. Would very like to visit your farm. God bless.
Most excellent. Its really wonderful when we learn this & then teach others. Such a great blessing. I wish them much success.
Was thinking about starting an automatous aquaponic system here in senegal as a side project and i get recommended your nice and inspiring video

Farming is good and we can improve this because we are learning
You are at the FOREFRONT OF TEACHING AND HELPING your people how to become self-sufficient and how to treat the growing of food..to not use toxic chemicals. I love your video !!!! I think that you need no music...to entertain....silence is all you need...(just a suggestion....which other viewers might not agree with me ?) Thank you for your lovely video and spirit !!!!
This video makes me so happy
This is awesome. What a blessing to see this is happening in Africa.
A system that will feed the future.
Very nicely n accurately described the aquaphonics system... Kudos👍
I am from Mozambique. You are doing wonderful work.
Good work God bless you
Good ! I like it. from Madagascar
What an ispiring bunch of great leaders indeed!
Very nice you r the great god bless you
I am just venturing into starting my adventures in aquaponics
Best wishes from India. Have lot of success.
God bless you
God bless you too
Wow I'm impressed..😀
Brilliant!
Although I noticed that you have a relatively large system and use a lot of pvc pipe throughout, which may not be available to many in Africa, it is a wonderful project.
All the best and Godspeed from Puerto Rico.
Jose Benitez what do u mean PVC pipes are not available to many in Africa? You should visit Africa. There is nothing we don't hv please. PVC pipes are available and affordable to most here.
Nais Kaurrai That's great!
What I mean is that some of these methods, technologies and materials shown here on RUclips don't always translate well for those who have limited access to certain types of materials. Especially for people far from urban centers were material cost and transportation may be prohibitive for them.
Aquaponics is a great example of sustainability for so many.
Enjoy.
access care ride sorry you seem to feel offended.
Be Well.
Jose Benitez the MSM brainwashed the world in order that whenever someone think of africa, they think of mud huts and rural areas and poor people. I have a hard time of imagining africa with tech that you see everywhere else in the world too, but i try to not be biased.
annonym surfer in urban areas, sure.
you don't think that there are places out in the sticks in the US that something's are not readily available?
that was not meant as any kind of a jab, just making a remark about logistics and accessibility. We are talking about a huge continent. think of the outback as example.
enough said on this matter.
Sage advice from the young man highlighted in this vid "“The more you keep doing something consistently with patience, the more you keep on learning." So great!!!
Great
setup more of this farm, no more hungry Africa.
Great job! Please I need your expertise as we are trying to set up here.
Pls I need your technical experience. Thanks for Sharing your knowledge. God bless
I love Kenya, from india
Kudos Africa ❣️
Hello, could you please post a short comment/video on how the biogas system works?
can u not google your self
keep going brother
Greetings from Egypt
I like the setup and everything, only the mathematics doesn’t add up. 120k and on fish you have 12000 fish without counting the other products kwani your fish is ksh.10? 🤔
Good for you.
I'm glad Kenya is doing this. Especially with the locust epidemic.
Good stuff
Well done, good luck
This is amazing. I want this, i am starting in Rongo-Migori, where i already have one greenhouse, How can i contact Kimani for learning
I'm surprised it's only 1000usd for such a big farm
Good work, can we get the details of the farm for a visit
truly inspiring
Keren saya akan contoh
thanks for share... from india
Out of seven billion people if we find five billion family young and adult ! They need Aquaponics for each household! If each build 10*20*10 fish tank 100000 fish per six month and about 300000 vegies per three month. Each can raise about four hundred sheep and goats and produce meat plus skin that will be turned to leather products. Leather products will be as many as possible or silkworms can be raised! Aquaponics kit for every household could be good business idea!!!!
Sir where are you located, I would like to start that type of farming too
I will like to visit this place somedy. Can we make an arrangement on that.
Good job 👍🏻
sir can i ask ..how many months did your system mature until you have a great results of plants..especially leafy vegetables?

Hello.
Please send us an e-mail to agribusiness.tv@gmail.com, specifying the name of the promoter or the title of the report in question, to receive the requested contact.
Best regards, Agribusiness TV
It looks cheap. Like something you can start without a large capital
Looks can be deceiving when you don't pay attention to details. He talked of a 250M deep borehole for water supply and energy source> is from solar. Do the math for those initial installations and then conclude if it is cheap than just looking. It doesn't look like a hobby system in some backyard to me but a viable sustainable food production system that can even generate good revenues.
See we africans have to promote knowledge sharing. And anyone interested can pay for it !! I am in Senegal and i will love to do that kind of system here !!!
Organic fertilizer? That's usually manure but I think they use pesticides...any what is he feeding the fish? Chemically induced fish foods im sure
Pessimist and a big hater of African progress. What's your problem??
@@mkenyahalisi9406 the fuck does that have to do with africa?
You made an awesome video for 2019 keep up the good hard work
can I have the contact of the farmer?
if you add maggot farming to feed your fish, you will be able to increase your profit.
pouvez mettre la traduction en francais svp?😍
how biogas produce electricity to run the pumps? 🤔
Biogas generator
Looks like they don't need pesticides too
You just covered it with plastic.
Nice work but bad sound recording! Maybe you could improve that as well as you did your farm!
Africa is short on space
This African man knows better english than me
Are you wondering why the subtitles?

This is amazing. We are beginning to return to what we once abandoned.
So happy to see how aquaponic could become a good way of farming, Hope it will spread to other African country and other country who always has little water for their plant... Aamiin to it
Great job!
I'm super impressed with what I'm seeing.
Keep it up.
Brilliant! Innovation is the currency of the 21st century.
Very intelligent people... that last statement has touched me deep. Thank you my fellow African sons and daughters.
Nice creativity and innovation but request to spread the innovation work to other countries also, so that food shortage of the world can be maintained.
look were u ever in kenya , they got nothing there..
Very impressive
@@tuforu4 you're ignorant. With this now, Kenya 🇰🇪 has SOMETHING. Hurry!!!!!
interesting!! what they use as a biogenerator?
This is really fantastic, I need to go into farming wow just love it.
Very good. I hope you are teaching others to build.
Many Loves from Turkey Dude, excellent job!
This is awesome, unique, healthy, very economical way of farming. I am a 66 year-old wrinkle pensioner. I am returning home and have been thinking of what do back at home. Now I`ve seen what I want to do for my contribution towards agriculture in Africa. I will try to get in touch with Engineer Daniel Kimani to see how best he can advice me on this project. God bless him and his team.
The comment section here is great!!. Almost everyone is giving sounds ideas on additional ways to improve this system. This is what the internet was created for, sharing ideas to improve our lives. I plan to build create similar self-sustaining system here in Haiti. Merci/Thank you for this highly informative educational video.
