Thank you very much, I wasn't sure to buy the shad frame, because I thought I would have to replace the handles, but I see now that he shad frame goes beneath them. Thank you!
Thanks for this video Gary. I bought a BMW C400GT last November and decided that I needed a top box to support some touring that my wife and I have in mind (going to tow the BMW behind our camper van). I have the same system to fit and hence my delight that you've already made a video to help others. Wish me luck.....
I hope my video is of help. It really isn't too difficult and I had mine done within an hour. The added space is great. Good luck in your fitment, I'm sure you'll be fine.
Hi Gary, thanks for the video. I've ordered a C400GT in Triple Black, hope to pick up next week. I have a Shad 58X and brackets waiting in the garage to fit when I get the bike. Hope you're still enjoying the C400. Thought I recognised the area. My daughter lived in KHM too; in fact in one of your videos you pass the front door! Didn't realise there already was a C400 in town, I thought I'd be the first! Any other mods you're thinking of doing?
Hi Paul. I'm glad you found this useful. The only other thing I will probably do is put a set of fork gaiters on it as I ride all year round. There are nice graphics available for it and maybe look at that too but that will be in the summer. I'm sure we will bump into each other up the town at some stage. There can't be too many C400's in the area. Thanks for watching and enjoy the bike. I certainly like it.
My BMW C400GT only has the grab bars. What is the actual model number and the vendor (web site) to get this rack? Will it let me install the GIVI top case i already bought (it has a standard mounting plate included)? Thanks for the great video!
The rack is made by Shad and I bought mine from Moto Planet online. It is around £100 at the moment on most websites. The model number is W0CG49ST. In the video I fit a Givi Monolock case to the rack with it's included mounting plate, so it should work for you. Good luck in the fitting it. Thanks for watching and your kind comments.
Sorry Gary, to be clear SHAD says (via email) that this rack that you show installing only works for SHAD top boxes, not Givi. I am not sure that's true since the top is simply HOLES for mounting plate to and the Givi top boxes have a mounting plate that has almost infinite placement of the bolts (holes) to attach to a rack. Again, I just have the grab bars now so it looks like this SHAD rack addition to the grab bars would do the trick for me. Do I have that correct?
@@larryhooser1855 It is probably designed for Shad boxes. As you say they are only holes and the grid on the Givi plate would line up and attach without any issues. I was prepared to drill new holes but this was not necessary. It may be a little more forward or back compared to the Shad top box but is certainly workable. The Shad rack goes under the original grab handles so they still stay on the bike. I do hope this helps.
Sorry, one more observation and question. It looks like you did not actually remove the seat storage box, just loosened it to get at the grab bar bolts. Correct? Just easier that way?@@GaryGSF
@@larryhooser1855That is correct. All the bolts were taken out but the tub was not fully taken out. Everything was accessible with it just sitting loose to access the grab bar. It would have been just as easy to pull the tub out. I suppose I was just cutting corners 😜
Hi mate, do you how much weight can support this rack? I am not sure if its stronger or not, compari g to the original bmw rack. Do you think it can carry 25kg? I am asking this, because I usualy do groceries shopping and I have a shad 58x. Thx.
I do a lot of shopping in mine too. I'm not sure the recommendation of loading from the manufacturer but I've had a load of shopping in it including 2 boxes of beer without any difficulties. I'm sure it's up to the shad stuff as it is sturdy. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
@@GaryGSF Thx for your answer. Did it leave any scrstches after you mount it? I mean, The plastic protection between the scoot and the rack, is it still there, it does the job?

Glad I could clear that up for you. Hope your fitment goes well.

Thanks! I have a SHAD rack and Topcase on the way for my C400GT and this is a huge help!
Glad I could help! Good luck with the fitment.
@@GaryGSF I installed it Thursday and it was a breeze after watching your video
Enough room for the weekly shopping Gary!

감사드립니다. 어떻게 해체하고 조립해야 하는 것을 상세하게 설명 해주셔서 거듭 감사드립니다. 항상 좋은 일만 가득하시길 기원드립니다.
천만에요. 도움이 되어 기쁘네요.
shad had little foresight to have a handle on the bars; ( or extended) for passenger.
The rack even gives another lever point to lift the bike on to the main stands.

we're did you get the luggage carrier you are installing and how much was it
I got it from bikeluggage in the uk. It cost around £100 UK. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Hi, do you know if this rack will also fit the C400x? Or is a different one?
I think they are slightly different as they are different part numbers. Thanks for watching.
bmw's back rack wont work directly with Shad TB ?
That is correct. The Shad rack will take other brands of box but BMW will only take a BMW box. Thanks for watching.

@@iurox The plastic protection didn't do much. All it seemed to do was gather green moss underneath it.
WHY WON'T THE BMW STD; BACK RACK WORK WITH SHAD ?
I did not try the BMW box on the Shad rack as it was too expensive. The cheapo box I bought is surviving very well.
Which model did you buy?
The box is a Homcom 48L and the shad rack number is in the title. Thanks for watching
