- In the second part of our wearables shootout we take a closer look at how IrisVision, eSight 4 and Acesight perform in low light conditions, at different magnifications and which has the best field of view. With all the wearables on the market now it can be confusing knowing which one might work best for you, which is why we made these videos! If you haven't watched the first video on this two-parter, make sure to watch that one first then come back for this one.

We love this! Thank you so much for such an honest and detailed feedback and review. Could we share this on social channels?
Yes that's fine, feel free to share wherever :-)
You did low light, but did not do outside in the bright sunshine. That’s what I want to know is how well they work outside?
Thank you Kim, that's a great question and I wish I had done that. I will tell you that the IrisVision works the best outside as it doesn't let any ambient light in, meaning the screens are still sharp and clear. The major downside however is that you can't walk with it on.
Very interesting. Thanks for the review, Luke! How do these 3 products compare in terms of price and product support?
I've found support for eSight and IrisVision to be great. Acesight may be less good as Zoomax are based in China so I'm not sure how good the US support is, but then again I've never tried it. Prices are: eSight $5995: IrisVision $2995: Acesight $4295: Acesight S $2995
I am in south Africa where can I buy this glasses from
Hi Kemraj, you would need to contact the manufacturers directly about that
Would be nice to know how well they all work when you are zooming in to a book right in front of you. It's generally easier for cameras to zoom in on distant things but it's important for these to work well with a macro focus.
We look at that in our individual review videos on these products. They all work well in this regard except eSight 4, which generally has focusing issues. The VR style headsets, like IrisVision, are easiest to read with thanks to the wide field of view. In general though wearables aren't the best devices to read with.
@@VisionForwardTechConnect what do you recommend for reading with, specifically for someone with macular degeneration and cataracts surgery?
@@Chillingworth Hard to say without knowing more details, but on general dedicated electronic magnifiers are the best choice for reading. If magnification isn't suitable, dedicated OCR devices would be the next best choice. Then there are many audio books available, depending on what you want to read.
@@VisionForwardTechConnect this is for my grandmother and she's not great technologically. The way she describes her vision is "wavy" and blurry. So far she's been using magnifying glasses and a knockoff jeweler's loupe she can wear from Amazon and those help her, but I want her to get something better. If you have any specific recommendations I would love to hear it, it could be really life-changing for her. She likes audio books but really wants to be able to read a book again and I'm hopeful that maybe something out there could work better than what I already mentioned. I don't think her condition is severe yet, and whatever shots she gets in her eyes seem to be keeping it at bay, but it would be a miracle to get her reading again.
Sorry for the late reply, this went to spam for some reason. For reading, usually the best devices are either electronic magnifiers or OCR devices, depending on the user's preference.
