How lucky that you got to see the Sycamore tree just weeks before it was cut down! Did you see the "weather stone" at Twice Brewed? :D That whole pub just radiates dry British humour 😂 I am super behind on your journey, need to catch up! :)
that's so true! I'm so happy that I still saw the tree, it's so crazy what happened just a few weeks after I had walked past it :( Yes, I saw the stone, made me laugh after a long and tough day 😊😂
another video that has put a big smile on my face, what did you have to eat at the pub, love seeing Otto eating a strawberry, as always looking forward to your next adventure. 😊
Balls of steel. It's a British term for endearment (grit, courage, fortitude) got it in spades. If id half your spunk id be proud. Credit too you, credit indeed. ✊
"Once Brewed" 🤔😂 I'd never heard of it! There are some strange place names in the UK - Nempnett Thrubwell's my favourite - from rural Somerset. I recognise that tree from photos, I hadn't realised that it was iconic. Lovely to see, thank you, Elli & Otto. I'm initially intimidated by cows too, I wish I wasn't because they've all been fine. I was passing through a field of 6 month olds recently and they were fun - following me and trying to eat my rucksack straps and dancing around. But yeah, it's completely different with a dog. I wonder if Otto had ever seen cows in his previous life.
The name really made me laugh too, but it's also nice because you're definitely going to remember it 😊😅 Going through a field with cattle always makes me a bit anxious, although I know they are just curious. But they're just so big and can probably easily push you over accidentally. Otto is intimidated by them, so he always wants to go through a field quickly to get away which helps a lot as he's showing no interest in them. Since I couldn't avoid them all the time, I got a lot more confident on our JoGLE which feels really good!

Hadrian's Wall always makes me laugh. Such a comical landmark in how the Roman Empire decided the Scots are too just much, this is as far as we are going.😆
I hiked the Pennine Way in 2022, so im enjoying watching your journey, and some of the places i visited. I wish i could have helped you with the cows, they don't bother me :)
Thank you so so much for following along, I really appreciate your kind words!! Hiking the length of the UK definitely cured my cow-phobia and I was much more relaxed by the end 😅
Same here 😬🫣 although I got a lot more confident on our JoGLE because I couldn't avoid them all the time. So, I'm a bit more relaxed now which feels good :)
Hi can I ask how to make this animated map drawing of how you walk etc, is there any easy way to make it for video or quite complicated? Btw that trail magic place is awesome, its close to zero of that here in Scotland or UK in general I think, not often for sure.
I just grab a screenshot from the OS map and draw on my route in an app called procreate (using that app a lot for other drawings etc., so already had it). The animation is basically a screen recording.... definitely not the easiest/most professional option, but since I already got the app, I'm doing it that way. There are easier ways to do it 😅🙈
Nice to see you and Otto are ok , like to ask do you record your route on watch or phone ? And have you a notebook and maps ? Just asking as I am a map person. But truly so much respect to you both doing this awesome adventure. Take care both , greeting from the Netherlands.
I plotted my route before setting off and had it downloaded to my phone on an offline map. I also recorded my route on my watch every day. I didn't carry paper maps as they would have been too expensive for such a long hike and I would have had to post them back often to avoid carrying a lot of extra weight. I only had the Harvey's trail maps for the Pennine Way and found them very useful to check the terrain, water sources etc. I was worried a bit about navigation before doing the Pennine Way which is why I got the maps. Probably wouldn't have needed them, but it was nice having them to have a 'bigger' picture of the area etc.
@@ellihikes hi Elli, wow bet that took ages but to be honest that's what I do too. When I am in UK mostly use the maps for big area walks . And used havey maps alot , really like them . Wishing you and Otto best wishes take care and look forward till next video 👍
Lets Gooo! ✌

Aww, thank you so much!!
Hadrian's Wall. Been there during an ultra marathon a few years back.

😅😅😅👍
Best advice for the Hadrian's Wall hike is to 'not eat the chocolate covered raisins you see all along the trail through the fields'
Great video!
😅 Thank you :)

I’m really wary of cattle and will try anything to avoid them 😢

I have a soft spot for gregs hut as it was the 1st bothy I stayed in many years ago 👌where you wearing hoka trail shoes ? cheers.
Greg's Hut is really stunning with the views - I loved staying there too 😍 I've worn the Altra Olympus trailrunning shoes :)
