They should make a movie of how freestyle started, stories like India, TKA, Judy Torres, Ect.. before these artist past away or forgotten! Netflix should be contacted and probably make a mini series of different artist from all regions New York to Cali!!

I really enjoyed watching this performance! It's a shame India doesn't generally perform at the freestyle shows, because she is definitely one of the best 5 vocalists in the history of freestyle, and dance music in general.
Not only a true throwback history performance ........but to take the moment's to give thanks to others, other artists - that's beautiful love. The humbleness and appreciation for the music and the other artists. Class act!
There was a club in San Francisco in 1980's called the "Mirage" and that is the first place that I heard this song. They always use to play this song. I think it was on 8th street.
She Pulled It off and Still has The Voice to shut the fuck up to any contradiction!...Love It!..

First off my sister and myself growing up in Bushwick Brooklyn was like the only afro-Caribbean girls on our block who adored freestyle music. Back in the 80's. To this day I still play this music. India hands down always was my favorite because her voice is amazing. 🤩👍♥️💯💯💯

Saw her perform with Louie Vega in San Francisco performing Love and Happiness back in the early 90’s. I tried to see her perform at Central Park for I forget what event in the early 90’s but it was too packed and got there late and couldn’t get in.
I also remember when she was in TKA and love them!
Oh Mirage was that hot that song nobody could find the right 12” mix for a long time! I forget how I found it finally and I think it was an import 12” and not on the Jellybean ep with Mexican and Sidewalk talk on it.

She still has that beautiful voice. Mirage (Dancer's Dream) & Dancing on the Fire! I loved those tracks back then, and I love it now. It's so sad that award shows for Freestyle Honors & Recognition is never televised on tv at all. Instead, it's just those crappy award shows for best R&B, Rap, Country, Rock & Alternative.
Yes, very strange. Even for us overseas (in NL) it's hard to understand why this genre is so under-exposed still. We were right there when it hit with Lisa Lisa, Nayobe and all of it. Luckily, the import record stores were booming back then, here in Amsterdam, NL, Europe. Thankful for that.

I agree with you! Lisa Lisa and Nayobe paved the way for many Latinos when it came to crossing over! Lisa Lisa is one tough cookie that has done so much for inner communities. I wish someone recognized Lisa Lisa's participation with The Bronx Dance School that was located on Bainbridge! It help so many kids become creative and understand the arts!
Yea dude Lisa Lisa Nayobe definitely inspired India to do freestyle music n she always gives props to both of them; ya gotta remember freestyle music didn’t have a big market n never blew up nationally like hip hop did; Lisa Lisa was a pioneer as well as Nayobe- out of those 2 Lisa was more successful but don’t take nothing away from Nayobe; that lady was powerful n like I said insipered India to do freestyle cause she could’ve went in a different direction than freestyle music n for fuji02 u a clown ass nigga for saying India’s a disappointment- she went to her roots in salsa cause freestyle didn’t have a big market n didn’t take off she pioneered that n opened d doors for other freestyle singers to do the same n really blow up- salsa made India an international star; Marc Anthony followed her lead n blew up in salsa- if not the world probably would’ve never heard or know Marc Anthony- so Fuji don’t be a disrespectful clown

But, they'd always tell India, "I, just, wanna' take a photo w. the guys". Still, (while, being, very, chill) as, she would walk away. Cause, that was hurtful, tu' sabe'? Quietly, I'd hear her say, "one day, I'll be mega huge"! & look at the Lady now?!! Right on, Mami!!

Read my comments once again... I didn't compare Sa-fire with India, I just wrote : Another Amazing was Sa-fire. The Only one that i compare with her is Betty Lebron from Sweet Sensation 'cause that girl have amazing power vocal range and she is the best dancer in the Latin Freestyle. She can do dance and sing at the same time. I know both have different ways of singing but I falling in love more from Betty even though La India is one of the best singers but Betty have passion, love, compromise for what she did.
