Hello from New Jersey. Wanted to tell you I made the floor cleaner and used it on my entire house. I have a hardwood floor in the living room and dining room and I was afraid that it was going to turn all 'foggy/full of streaks' but NO, it is shiny and I loved the smell. I also cleaned the bottom of my sink and got rid of all synthetic cleaners. Love your ideas, and thank you for teaching us all. :)
Vinegar also strips the poly finish on wood floors. You can omit it for an equally effective cleaner than won’t damage wood floors (use a dry microfiber mop head so you don’t saturate the wood any more than you have to, since there’s so much water in it already).
There is no benefit in mixing vinegar with Sal suds. From Q&A on Lisa Bronner's website: Hi Lisa, In your Aug. 6, 2021 post, you mentioned using vinegar and Sal Suds together but on your February 12, 2022 post, you said there’s no benefit to combining the two. Can you clarify? Thanks. PS-Love your products! October 15, 2022 REPLY LISA BRONNER SAYS: Hi Ada- I’m glad to see you reading so closely! In the past have recommended a combo of Sal Suds and vinegar, but we recently did some formal testing and learned that vinegar in fact reduces the cleaning power of Sal Suds. They are both excellent cleaners, but best to keep separate. October 17, 2022
I buy my cleaners from Grove when I don't make them. They are chemical free all natural and vegan free products. I love the floor cleaner from Grove it has an almond scent and is in an easy squeeze bottle so you can just squirt some on the floor and mop. I love that. Can this be put in a squirt bottle and done that way?
Yes I think it could! I see ads for Grove all of the time but I see they use a lot of Mrs. Meyer’s products which last I looked had artificial fragrances in them, so they were all that nontoxic. Have they improved their products?
Love this. If I’m using the vinegar recipe with a traditional mop, what is the ratio of ‘recipe’ to water in the bucket. Ie 50mm of recipe to 4 litres of water
i like this idea of making my own floor cleaner ! i have 1 question- can I swap the vinegar for bottled lemon juice instead? they both seem to be sour agents so thats why im asking.
You said to double the recipe if I want to use a mop and bucket (traditional way😅). But do you mean double just the ingredients that go into the water and not double the water amount or do you mean double the entire recipe including the water?
Using vinegar and water as a homemade wood floor cleaning solution can have a negative effect on your wood floor. It's important to remember that when you clean your wood floors, you aren't actually cleaning the wood you're cleaning the chemical finish that's on the wood. The finish is the protective layer of your wood floors. Since vinegar is an acid, it will actually break down the finish on the surface of your floor, and over time it will reduce the shine, and leave a dull appearance. Using vinegar and water to clean floors can also lead to an excessive amount of water on the floor, which can cause swelling and discoloration.
Hello Merry, I'm from Indonesia, really hope you are willing to answer my questions. Can I use this recipe on a Tineco S5 Pro floor mop? If so, can I use the liquid recipe in your video without mixing it again with water?
I appreciate this! I was trying to find the soap your using on the EWG site. I’ve had it in my amazon wish list for forever just wanted to know the information on each ingredient 😞
Hi Susan! Thanks for buying the book - to be honest, I just moved to Germany and my copies of the book haven't arrived yet so I can't look it up! But it may not be in there - not every recipe on my channel is in my book.
Hi Sarah! 👋 Thank you so much for this video, I had no idea these store bought chemicals had so many harmful chemicals - very informative. Can you share with me the Bissell mop you use?
So sorry I couldn’t hear clearly what the proportions of ingredients are. First you said 1 c water, then I heard 3 c water. Please repeat in an answer the proportions of ingredients. I need something for my artificial waterproof wood tile floors. (Planks)
I’m all for doing my own diys but I’m worried that the white vinegar and lemon/orange essential oils will wear down my tile floors and granite countertops overtime. 🥲

I looked up this video because after cleaning my floor my nose burned thank you I’ll definitely try this !
Oh gosh! That’s terrible.

Thank you so much, Sarah for your recipe to make a less toxic DIY floor cleaner.
If I use castile soap, how much should I add to the mixture?
I love this! You are very well spoken and I feel like I’ve gained much more knowledge than I was expecting!
Thank you Cat!
how long can this last on the shelf?
I clean with my baby often on the carrier and I get so worried when I spray my cleaners on the counters or floors. It’s nice to see this! Thank you
Yes they’ll keep you both safe 💕.
I love your videos so much! I had a blast this weekend making your recipes
I don’t understand what you mean by putting solution into machine. Can I place in a spray bottle to spray floor?

What would the ratios be for using this in a bucket? Thank you
i like this idea of making my own floor cleaner !
i have 1 question- can I swap the vinegar for bottled lemon juice instead?

They’re not the same . Vinegar and lemon are different .
Lovely too see you and the way you do it ...lots of love

What would you use instead of vinegar ? Thanks a lot for your feedback.
Can this be used in a steam floor cleaner? thank you
I just got this book & didn't see this recipe. What page is it on?
I’m ordering your book now.

Hi Jazmin! Oh, do you mean the Castile Soap or the Thieves Household Cleaner?
Can this be use for car washing ?
Mary thank you for the tips
is sal suds odorless or have a pine odor?
Ok i bought the book but can’t find the floor cleaning recipe in the book >>>> what page is it on?

How much vinegar exactly ? I just didn’t understand the 1/3 c vinegar but u said something before that ? Thanks
Please tell me is Sal suds are toxic ?

Do you use a cap full in your cleaning reservoir or use the solution to fill entire resevoir?
I use only a capful ❤️
Thank you Queen
Superb! Thank You.
What would you suggest as an alternative to vinegar as it can be very strong, or would I just omit it from the recipe?
Yeah you can just omit it, I think it’ll still work well.
@@MyMerryMessyGermanLife Awesome. Thank you. Thank you very much for responding :)
Hi Sarah! 👋 Thank you so much for this video, I had no idea these store bought chemicals had so many harmful chemicals - very informative. Can you share with me the Bissell mop you use?
Hi Dani! Yes I used the Bissell CrossWave, I believe there is a link for it in the blog post.
@@MyMerryMessyGermanLife Thank you so much for sharing!
What do you recommend for shine?
Vinegar.. won’t it melt the grout?
Not to my knowledge nor on my experience 😊.
We don t get sal suds n Castile soap easily where we live pl suggest any other substitute
A good option would be any brand of Castile Soap or a natural dish soap.
ill try it and leave my comment thank you for the video good luck on your youtube channel
Sounds great, Mariam! Excited to hear how it works for you.
Can I use castiled soap?
Yes you can, but be aware it can leave an oily residue behind which can make your floors slick.
Thank you for the recipe!! I tried it and I like it. But I didn’t smell. What should I do?
Can I use this in a bissell crosswave???
Yes you can! I would reduce the Castile soap though.
@My Merry Messy German Life awesome, thanks so much! 😊

Just a hint it the colder areas keep sal suds near a warm spot it will turn to almost shortening consistsy
.
Oh good to know! Thanks for the tip.
Thank you..
You are very beautiful, imho.
Can this solution be used in a steam floor cleaner
Pet safety - some essential oils are not ok for pets.
I’m all for doing my own diys but I’m worried that the white vinegar and lemon/orange essential oils will wear down my tile floors and granite countertops overtime. 🥲
I understand. You can omit those ingredients and just use Castile soap and water.
