    Just an FYI, maintenance mode is purely a function for greasing your boom. It contains scoping charts that allow you access to all points for greasing the slides and pins of the boom. The only issue to using maintenance mode is it eliminates some of the safety features of the AML and could allow you to turn the crane over if you aren't properly counterweighted for your conditions.

    They sure changed alot since I used to run the old Erie Bycrus which started out with all cables then later upgraded to hydrolics.

      D Master, it's amazing how much technology has affected the crane industry. Everything from design to performance is drastically different. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    That was very interesting and informative. I grew up in Manitowoc WI. Have you ever run one of there cranes? And how are they? I only saw them when they were leaving never got up close.

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 лет назад +1

      +Ted John, Manitowoc makes a great machine. They also build some huge cranes.

    Thanks for showing us around!
    Is that a communication radio tucked into the left side of the cab?
    Or do you typically use hand signals between your operator and oiler?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 лет назад +2

      yjjeeper90, in the left front corner of the cab is just an am/fm, cd player. We have two way radios. But, I prefer hand signals when possible. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    I’m sure you probably know. But if you don’t. On the speed screen. You can split the speed,By moving the joystick just a little bit and using a plus or minus to increase or decrease the speed. Another words you can make boom up faster and program boom down slower etc.

    New question...Is the weight of amount of fuel ever calculated into counterbalance? If so...does computer configurations change automatically with fuel level?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 лет назад +3

      Wayne Tharp, fuel and other fluids aren't considered part of the counterweight configuration. Those are too variable. Our printed load charts rely on specific, never changing information. That's how we plan our picks.

    Lets see some videos of the. Smaller carry deck crane.

      Brad Quintana, we don't use the small carry deck very often. But, I can make some video of it at our shop. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    So dumb question... does the house/superstructure share fuel with the carrier, or do they have independent tanks?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 лет назад +4

      Sandy, there is no such thing as a dumb question. The superstructure fuel system is independent from the carrier.

      As my science teacher used to say the only dumb question is the one you do not ask.

    Question... Rt crane boom won’t go to zero to go under overhead bridge I lowered boom as far as it will go but stops at 13* is there a travel mode to get it to go down further, if so how?

  • @waynetharp

    If I had only gone to class in school and at top crane! I would have had my wind question from yesterday answered. Sorry...
    I see another guy beat me to the " What is the red button question?" The one in center/top of main dash that looks like it is waiting for a call from the" powers to be" and life on Earth will never be the same! lol It is probably the road hazard lights but that would be boring! While I am in class...What does the green/yellow/red strobe light outside on your right let everybody know? Thanks Professor and have a great day!

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 лет назад +2

      Wayne Tharp, the big, rectangle red button is actually a warning light for the engine. The green, yellow, red strobe on the outside is a tattle tale. It lets everyone outside the crane know how close to capacity I'm getting. Green means plenty of capacity, yellow means the guy in the seat is starting to push the limits, and when it changes to red, everyone knows that the guy in the seat is crazy and overloading the crane. It will also be red if the crane configuration doesn't match what was entered into the computer.

      Thanks for response! That light is pretty nice incase the operator strokes out or is updating his facebook. The crew has a few moments to run for their lives!

      Wayne Tharp, a REALLY loud alarm sounds too.

      Muhammad Asif Younis, here is a video explaining the boom extend procedure. ruclips.net/video/UhM6SdmvWMs/видео.html
      I'll have to make a video showing switching between auxiliary winch and extend. It make take a while though. We don't use the auxiliary winch very often. Thanks for the feedback. 🙂👍
