I paid $450 for my Ruger 556 and I built my Palmetto State Armory rifle in parts for under $400 and I have never ever had a problem with either one of them
Right, I have an $800 S&W M&P 15 for about 9 months now and never had any issues with it, and it's accurate as hell too. You don't need to spend 1k+ for a decent AR style platform to be reliable and accurate, hell, even if I COULD afford something more expensive I still wouldn't have one when my M&P 15 does what I need it to do.
Video challenge: The white claw strikes back. Load white claws into a smoothbore canon and fire it at a ballistic dummy. Would also be a great excuse to test other myths from movies where they load utensils and other goodies into cannons to act like grape shot.

I bought the Radical AR last year. I only had two jams, but it was from the same round. I've put about 400 rnds down range with it and it's very accurate, but I was shooting 25 yards but a 100 yrd target. Love the rifle.
My first rifle was from a company called Anderson Mfg out of Hebron KY. It was used and priced at $275. I was there to buy the S&W Sport II, also used and priced @ $490 that I had seen earlier that week. I just happened to see it and the clerk told me that they just got it in and it was just set out that day. So I got it instead. I still have it, in addition to all the expensive ones I own. It's one of those that I let others shoot so I don't have to worry about them messing it up. It's accurate as I need it to be, reliable and if it get's jacked up, I am not out a ton of money.
Same here! Bought it to get started in the AR game. Buddies clowned me for getting it and that I should’ve used the 500$ towards a 2000$ AR. Told them I can build up from here and that’s what I plan on doing. Shot it and love it and plan on making it better and still save $
@@adioman543 Smart move. If you go to their website there's a ton of options and high end products. They have some proprietary coating that makes the metal slick so you don't need lube. It's really something special
600 dollar rifle in 2017. 7-8k rounds later, smooth shooting. 500 yard cold bore shots. Plenty of classes with only trigger upgrade with other small stuff. Have not had to replace the pin or extractor yet. Desert and humid environments. Clean and lube when it gets bad. No complaints. When I need a loot drop this will perform just fine.
Literally the only "bad" rifle I have ever owned, regardless of price or model, has been a Century Arms PSL, but Century was notorious for trash QC when they built those guns. My PSL is okay but the entire barrel is canted to the right from the receiver.
Anyone who unironically uses the term loot drop wouldn't make it a week. You think the danger is other guys with rifles but the real issue is you don't have any clean water stores or food preps, nor the knowledge and skills to acquire them when the nightmare brick in your pocket stops getting signal. In a week or two after WROL begins, the real survivors would take your well loved rifle from your starved and dehydrated husk without needing to fire a shot.
Expensive ARs are a scheme to reduce the outflow of weapons into civilian hands. 400-500 even with today's inflation will suffice for most people's needs.
This reminds me of those old gun shows from the early 2000s on places like the History channel. Would watch this on a Saturday afternoon while falling asleep in my recliner. Just like Dad!
For the cheap one, get a light pull JP enterprise trigger spring set, add an adjustable gas block, and add a good muzzle break. Cost around 300 bucks. Still less than 50% of the cost of the 100% assembled one. I do all my builds starting with Aero Precision’s best upper and lower parts, I custom build stainless steel triggers to 3.5-4.5 pull, add adj gas block, add magpul UBR Gen2 Stock, add ASR Muzzle brake, add two magpul mags, add law tactical folder, and generally come in around 1400. From there add reticle or scope, and Omega 36m silencerCo silencer. Recently i tried an entire 50 beowulf upper from bear creek Arsenal and it fit literally perfect on my Aero lower.
What is great about have a common, universal, modular, and standardized gun like the ar15 is that every bit of r&d that goes into it trickles down giving, even the cheapest option, excellent performance
You have a point. That's the case with any improvement in technology. The AR platform has been around for 70 or so years. With that much R&D, it's not hard to build a decent AR in 2024. I don't deny the saying of "you get what you pay for" is valid to a point. I just believe that more often than not, the quality vs price is not linear, and the further you go up in price, the more you start to pay for brand name and whatever bells and whistles are the current rage rather than improvement in quality.
@@JohnnyReb2000 Like Barrett dropping their own AR-15 for over 2k and the entire thing is mil-spec from top to bottom. No fancy charging handle, no fancy ambi-lower, even the trigger is just a mil-spec one. Anyone paying 2k for that is being scammed.
@@JohnnyReb2000 Yeah there's always a point of diminishing returns (AKA "paying for the name"). I'm not exactly sure where that point is with ARs ($1200 or so?), but as a whiskey nerd I know that point for bourbon is about $60 and for scotch it's $100. Any more than that and you're not necessarily getting extra quality for the dollar, you're mostly paying for increased rarity.

I have that radical, and honestly, Thousands of rounds of steel TULA ammo and never cleaning it, and it still functions properly and hits every time. 🤷
My $599 A shoots exactly like the same as my $1150 AR. Mostly because they are the exact same make and model but I bought 10 years apart. The crazy part is I bought the $1150 one first. My friends $499 DPMS panther had a tighter MOA than my Smith & Wesson $1150 M&P-15
Yep, my PSA works surprisingly well. Thank God for the cheaper ARs, and thank God for PSA's mission goal of arming everyone affordably. Maybe I'd change my tune if I was filthy rich, but ain't no way I'm paying 500% more $ for 5% more performance. Slap a good muzzle break on the cheap one, and it's just as good.
Same here. Got the standard mil-spec lower and a 16.5" 223/556 upper (pic up top, mlok on the sides and bottom). The lower was $129 and the upper was $239. The upper came with mbus flip up irons, and I put a Magpul grip and stock on it (extra $50). So for about $420 (heh) I was able to build a decent AR-15 in 223/556. I did add a light with a pressure pad ($40), a folding foregrip ($25) and a Monstrum 1-6 lvpo ($100 on sale). So, in total about $600 for a decent AR-15 with decent accessories. I know the light and optic aren't the best ever, but they work just fine. I only get to shoot it once a month, so I'm not testing the limitations of everything for sure. One thing I do know, it fires the same 223/556 rounds that a $1000 rifle with a $500 optic on it fires, and I can bullseye mine from 100 yards away, which is all I need. Fired easily over 1000 rounds from it and have never had a jam or malfunction. PSA is awesome!
My 16" is PSA upper and Anderson lower. Works just fine and rattle canned perfectly. My ar pistol is Aero upper and lower, both work perfectly and are fun to use.
lol you don’t have to spend 500% more. Maybe 100% more, to get a good rifle. PSAs are assembled by SDI graduates. And a muzzle device is not making it “just as good” lol. You are the type of guy that makes the “just as good” stereotype stay alive…lol maybe you went to SDI, idk, but a muzzle device is not doing anything to help you out, unless you think 5.56 has too much recoil.
I actually own a Radical AR-15 and this video gives me immense vindication in my choice to not waste money on overpriced gucci guns. Spending thousands of dollars on a gun when you can get a similar gun for less than 500 is ridiculous. Instead of spending 1800 on a gun thats maybe like 3% better, I'd rather just buy multiple different guns.
These creators are usually part of psyop marketing for gun companies and money tax laundering for the feds. All these weapons are made the exact same way, and a "cheap" AR will perform the exact same as an "expensive" AR. You're buying the name. Any AR above 850 bucks is a rip off. Notice how they're insulting the cheaper one constantly. They did the exact same. A rifle is a rifle, doesn't matter the price.
My guess is that if you shoot a lot you will see the difference, the radical parts may wear out/break faster. For most of us, there is nothing wrong with a psa or a radical as a base gun. Shoot it, as parts wear, replace them. People shit on the bushmasters that were built in huntsville al, mine has the tightest receiver set I've ever seen, just saying that just because its inexpensive doesn't mean its trash.
My Radical is chambered in 7.62x39. You can force pull the mill spec trigger 30-40 times and smooth it out for free. You can also use a small black rubber band around the front take down post to make the gun feel tight. Grand Thumb did a $300 budget upper test with full auto with no issues till about 4800rds.
Absolutely luv my radical! Got roughly 3-4 thousand rounds with no issues. Other than handguard came loose once. Other than that no ftf or fte's. Rise armorment trigger and decent optic, couldn't be happier with it
The "Bill" from the Bill Drill is Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat. He was a competition shooter at the time and used that as a warm-up drill. Over time, it became known as the "Bill Drill".
I have had a RF-15 since mid 2020. After 100 rounds of break in it is an excellent rifle. With the only upgrade i have done to it being a AT3 3-port muzzle brake. Reducing the climb substantially for hunting purposes. I'm not a range guy so i can't compare it to other AR-15's. But for Pig/Coyote/Fox hunting it will do the trick.
had the exact RF-15 in this video for a few years and it has performed exceptionally, I like how I can throw cheap ammo through it and itll perform almost exactly the same as a $2k AR I have to put specific ammo through for it to cycle right lol
I bought my Radical for about $375, and it's been AMAZING. The mlok rail and minimalist stock are dope, but I did need to add stipling to the grip because it was super slippery.
Mine was $620. But I also got mine brand new and had it in layaway so it cost more than what it was selling for ($550 originally) but it’s a pistol cause of the barrel size and I love it!
And spoiler from my own experience: The cheap rifle will be just fine up to 5k rounds. An FN hammer forged barrel will be good for much more. But it's not worth if I can just spend another $150 on another barrel, gas block, bolt, firing pin. Possibly a spring at 5k rounds. And it'll just be that. Not all the extra parts.
Another channel did a test on a cheaper brownfield ar15 vs colt I think. They beat the crap out of them and the cheaper actually held together longer. Final test was rapid fire. This was after thousands of rounds down each. They kept feeding mags until the barrels where cherry red and cooked off.
That's where a lot of these internet comparisons don't tell the whole story. The same holds true for other guns, like 1911s. For example, I have a RIA 1911 that shoots just fine, but after 500 rounds I was already seeing some wear on the finish.
Not in my experience...I have a del-ton ar bought on sale 15 years ago for 500 bucks...it's never had an issue, and its done well over 8k rounds. My other far more expensive ones....not so much.
My AR is a Franken build I've had for about 9 years I've probably only fired around 3k rounds through it but the last 1k of that was done without cleaning it and it still runs flawlessly.
As Marine Veteran , I built a PSA Ar15 , BUT.. I chose a PSA Premium upper that comes with an FNH CHF 1/7 chrome lined barrel and then I chose a Fail Zero nickel boron BCG. Those were the 2 parts I wanted to make sure I could rely on no matter what.
You don't need to start off with "As a Marine Veteran" devil. Nobody cares you were in the Corps. It's not relevant to what you said and makes us all look like the dum crayon eaters we is. SF bro beans
My late wife bought me a DPMS for Christmas several years ago. I haven’t been able to shoot it much, but, I’ve run many different types of ammo. Never had a jam or soft strike. Not quite MOA. Still not shot in. Even with super high quality barrels, there is still a difference between new and shot in. I prefer irons over scoped, because of its intended purpose. Recent events not withstanding, the AR was never intended to be a sniper rifle. It’s a battle rifle. Others will disagree, of course.
I was waiting for Christmas to buy one of them at On Target was a good price even right then but I am really cheap so I was waiting then they closed one day for good so I ended up with the Radical matter of fact they had one cheaper than that I was going in for, forgot the brand but I liked this one.
He has a couple times on unsub after peer pressure but other than that thats a pepperbox exclusive thing. Gotta have at least a couple family friendly gun channels on youtube. Hes not as square as kentucky ballistics though, seems as though he refuses to swear even when told to. Him and wendigoon are too pure for the group yet fit in so well😂😂
I've reloaded for nearly 20 years, my diamondback is spec'ed more like a match grade rifle than many AR's (even the s&w's have sloppy tolerances by comparison)
Mine has been good unless I put 30 in the mags. It doesn't like to cycle after the first shot. Leave a round out and it's perfect. 29 has been flawless.
@dartdodge69 I've had 2. Had to sell the first due to bills unfortunately. But the 2nd one i bought came standard with 300 BLK and a free 5.56 Barrel, Gas Tube and Block. It was only like 450$ I swapped the barrel out from the 300 BLK but damaged the barrel tip threads on the 300 because the washer was crushed flat and didn't come off without hell. I plan on buying a new 300 BLK and a 5/8 Supressor and a scope of some kind for it as well. I'd love to go IR or Night Vision if I get the money. If not for those than just a hunting rifle scope and she'll be done. I figured if I have a 300 BLK barrel and 300 BLK is already subsonic, a suppressor makes it even better and fits the theme.
Classic Firearms just did this with the Radical Firearms, too. They used it vs. a $4,000 AR. In my very humble opinion, anything over $1,000 is too much for an AR.
I would argue that ammo has more to do with MOA than the build. A few years ago I thought I had a bad barrel M&P. Who would have thought Wolf steel case ammo was crap? 😂
Considering that there are ARs out there that cost double that, it kinda is mid level. Totally up to you to decide if it’s worth that or not. It ain’t to me. I’ve spent less than that on two whole ARs and my guns probably outperform most “mid tier” guns.
I also don't see the reason to spend more than BCM level prices for a fighting type rifle, about $1500. You could also probably buy a $500 PSA and throw a $200 BCM BCG in it and have a rifle that runs just as good as a $1500 rifle.
I spent the higher end on one and I hope they enjoy the money. The mid I haven’t put a scope on yet so I don’t know if it’s worth it. The bottom is a prairie dog machine at distance with silver bears. Just a plain Jane scope.
I have a radical and my dad has the m&p 15. We both like the radical way more. I've had absolutely zero problems with it honestly. I would highly recommend for a beginner
I've always said the big "brand name" AR's really don't give you much over the "cheaper" AR's. Which is why I just roll my own now. Under 800 bucks gives me a 16" Wylde that tosses lead down range just as well as the 2000 dollar AR. Its getting to be like the Gibson versus Chinese/Indonesian/Korean guitar folks.
I have a Radical - I won it. And I have put about 2000 rds through it - only jammed 1x - it is hard to sight in, but overall - I love it!!!! Highly recommend for budget shoppers!!!
Above $1,000 or so, I believe you get diminishing returns on an AR - at least on one chambered in 5.56/.223 Big jump from $600 to $1,000 Small jump from $1,000 to $2,000 A lot of the time, "good enough" is good enough.
I really almost bought the Radical the other day but ended up going with the Diamond Back DB15 carbon series just because it had the nicer Magpul stock and grip which I liked, and came in FDE Cerakote. I've already ordered a ambi charging handle and hypertap muzzle. Dad handed down a holographic he has never used so I got LUCKY!
I paid 430 for a radical. Braced it. New trigger. optic and magnifier. Recently suppressed it. 1 malfunction at 1400rds (all i could find for that range day was HERTERS ammo and it malfunctioned in every rifle i brought)....currently at 1700rd. Sub MOA at 25yds. Still hella accurate at 200. Bought it to be a cheap truck gun, kept performing well and became my main rifle.
We practically got the same build lol optic and magnifier on mine swapped to ambi safety selector still debating if i should change trigger will most likely upgrade charging handle soon
The exact results i expected. Negligible difference. A box of captain crunch or a box of crunchy captains Gets the job done either way. The next argument from comments will be. Ohhhhhh but which one will last longer !?!?. And again, most likely Negligible difference.
I just bought an RF 15 about 3 weeks ago. Swapped the trigger for a LaRue MBT, added a 1-6X LVPO, clamped a GI M951 Surefire on it and a bipod lug. Zeroed it at 50 yards with my 77 grain handloads, checked zero at 200 than started banging steel out to 600 yards. So far it's got about 500 rounds through it with zero failures so far.
I’ve had mine for about two years. It’s a great rifle. I got mine during a Christmas sale for $400. Changed out the trigger, BCG, buffer weights and spring. No complaints. Shoots like a dream.
@@1776REIGNS every AR I build sports a LaRue, including my 9mm colt clone PCC. That's 6 rifles of my own plus my BIL's rifle, his daughter's as well as a buddy's 20 inch A2 clone I built him a few years ago.
I love vids like this when the guy/guys doing the testing are truthful. Alot of the ar15s made are using the same few forges for the uppers and lowers. They use the same mil spec triggers usually from one of a few places. The only real difference youll find is in the barrels and the build quality. Anyone who wont admit that a psa rifle with some modifications can be equal to a DD for way less money is either lying to themselves to justify what they spent or they simply know absolutely nothing about the ar15 platform. If you buy a mil spec ar from one of manu companies your mostly getting the same rifle. Alot of the extra money spent on "high end" rifles is just paying for the name stamped into the lower
I believe the difference is just time. Lots of lower quality firearms work and many of them work reasonably well especially for the price you pay. But essentially the more you use the rifle , the more you are going to want to spend on that rifle. That’s at least my thought process. This is for quality firearms of course, but quality does not necessarily mean costly anymore. Honest outlaw has a series called “10 guns for xxx$” and you know for a fact these are good firearms.
I agree with that assessment of spend more if you use it more. I think most people are weekend hobbyists at best, so spending 2k or more seems questionable unless you are gonna use it a lot more. People can do whatever they want, but that also includes just getting an off the shelf rifle for under 1k. Although I would like to see a longevity/reliability test on these, I still think that as long as they’re all using quality parts and not just any old shitty metal to increase profit, it’s gonna be fine.
$1400 spare dollars buys a 1640rd case of M855 ($800), a holosun red dot + magnifier ($500), and 6 Pmags.(6x$15) if you are on a budget, the cheap platform is the way to go, because you can actually have a complete system and ammo to train with.
Funny how a lot of people forget that getting the rifle is only the beginning. Best to start budget & work your way up, get that lower set up, get a good bcg & then get a better upper when you can afford it.
My radical had an issue where the bcg was hitting the buffer detent pin. So I made 2 changes: BCM upper receiver with all the radical stuff swapped into it, and a palmetto state polished trigger. Runs like a champ now.
You definitely hit the nail on the head with this. I like to put together nice things, but the cost of a nicer upper could easily cost two of those rifles. As long as it goes bang when it's supposed to reasonably accurately and stays quiet when it should, I don't care what it cost. I'd like to see them zero these things and push out to 500.

I started buying guns when I was 18 like many people. Found a coupon in a newspaper in a fall sale for S&W mp15 for 499. Thing loosens itself up after 200 rounds and came with shit*y accessories. Still haven’t replaced it after 12 years despite knowing what’s out there because I can’t miss with it
Same. Been 13 years and the ol’ WASR 10/63 still does the job just fine. Sure, some cross-eyed gypsy installed the canted sights but it still goes where it says it will so I guess he was right. 😂
I have a Radical and love it. Never have had a problem with it and still use it the way it came from the factory. My DPMS has had several issues. In this case, it looks like more money isn't more better.
As the owner of a RAD - 15 5.56. Its amazing for the value, you just need to practice with it to get rid of the grainy parts of the rifle. Maybe also upgrade the stock buts its a fantastic budget rifle
Well done, guys! I'm the proud owner of many crappy ARs that I plink with, and a very nice Colt with all the bells and whistles that I'm afraid to scratch... Nice to know I'm not wasting my time training on PSAs!
@BlackGryph0n I highly recommend getting one of the PSA M16A1 uppers, along with a Colt 4x scope and Franklin binary trigger. That and the MP5 are near the top of the list for most fun historical weapons that any collecter ought to have.
Still, cheap guns can still keep up. My 500$ ar from 15 years ago still works, and shoots good enough groups considering I've never replaced a part and treated it like crap. Now, having 6 ar's from cheap to Gucci, Gucci ain't worth the money.
@@boogy-f8j absolutely. I'm not looking to do competition long shots. I have an AR that will put rounds on a man sized target from 150 yrds out and that's what I'm looking for. I don't need a fancy rifle to do that.
The big issue is really not the gun, but what you intend to really do. Most people don't need the "best" gun, and price is relative. On the other hand if your hobby is putting precise holes in bits of distant paper....
Cheap and reliable, I can make up accuracy with knowing the weapon, technique, windage, and elevation. The only thing I would spend money for is weight reduction and maybe a different compensator if the weight reduction changes the rise.
Can I just say I’m a massive fan of the adjustable hammer to install the optic? For added humor, pull out the Wheeler tools for the FN, and keep using the adjustable hammer for everything on the cheap gun
Hi there! I'm an armorer. My agency pays me to do it. They've been paying me to do it for 23 years. I've been working on guns with my father since I was a kid, so nearly 40 years. I have 5 factory certifications in the Ar15/M16 platform, not including multiple certifications in other platforms. All of that means a bunch of 20-somethings on the internet will not listen. However, a new Ar really needs to be disassembled by an armorer or gunsmith and properly set up. You don't HAVE to, but it is the best way to get the most out of a new rifle. A set up means the gun's lower is torn down and the parts are all cleaned of any manufacturing debris. The rifle is properly lubricated and reassembled. The aluminum receiver has an anodized finish and is a dull gray from the factory. It's a rough finish, meant to absorb oils to help protect the metal. So, part of the set-up is spraying the receiver inside and out with a CLP and then wiping it out to get that absorption started. However, if you're going to coat or paint the gun, don't have that done. When it's new is the best time to coat it. Cera-Kote is the best option for that. The grit in a mil-spec trigger is largely due to machining artifacts and bits of grit that may have been on the persons hands who assembled the rifle, especially a budget gun. Even after set-up, there will still be a gritty, shifting feel in a mil-spec trigger. That's the steel pins rotating in the aluminum receiver. A set of non-rotating pins will cure almost all of that (not anti-drift, that's a waste of money). It's a $30 to $40 trigger job that you can do yourself. Apply some weapons grade grease to the pins before install. Do NOT try to polish or file the mil-spec parts. They are surface hardened and you will risk severely reducing their service life. You may now return to listening to the opinions of people who haven't been alive longer than I've been working on guns.
@@tubeonline629 It's called tolerances. However, I'd be happy to entertain your explanation. It might be funny. You do realize we're talking about the hammer and trigger pins and not the gas block pressed taper pins, right?
That is a really pompous attitude, ya know? Start by rattling off a list of qualifications no one cares about, then immediately insult the person you are supposedly talking to, and to what? To tell them to pay someone (someone like you) to clean their guns before they are allowed shoot it for themselves, and then to end on another insult. Wouldn't a simple "hey, the AR platforms likes a deep clean through before the first shots." Work just as well, and get the same point across?
Yeah, an armorer who recommends anti rotation pins and having EVERY firearm completely stripped after purchase is an absolute moron. A: the trigger pins are meant to rotate. Cassette style triggers that don't have a tensioner may need anti walk pins, no trigger needs anti rotation pins. 2: The reason we pay for higher quality rifles is to get those higher tolerances and QC checks that eliminate the need to scrutinize every part in the rifle.
@@arinmullins4175 You do you. What I do works. I've seen not doing it lead to issues, mostly novices proclaiming guns to be junk when they were just not taken care of properly. The anti rotation pins aren't a have to, never said they were. They remove some of the felt creep in a mil-spec trigger. You brought up cassettes, I specifically meant basic mil spec parts. You're clearly just being derogatory for the attention. Have a day.
This is what I tell ‘em about my PSAs. I tell them PSA makes their own parts and it’s cheaper because of it, but they don’t wanna hear it. My PSAs generally always work. I got my first nicer upper, a BCM ELW the other day, oh and I had an aero upper. The aero was ver accurate, but other than that it was about the same. I’ll test the BCM next week.
Respectfully, I don't think it is. EAB is less than 1/2" long. Up here in SE Michigan is ground zero for the EAB, we unfortunately know them all too well. They wiped out about 99% of our ash trees around 2011.
I have a radical so this made me feel a little bit better about my purchase. Plus it allows me to put the money I saved to put it towards optics and other accessories for it! Loved this video!
I love my FN FAL but it's a bit of a beast. There is something to be said about running an inexpensive .223 (5.56) and getting 2 MOA at 100 meters, not perfect but not horrible. Never thought the rifle we didn't like that much in the G.I. days would now dominate in 2024.
So they spring for "TV-style higher production value" and Matt's million dollar range.... and we can't afford targets for each shooter? Come on, tape on old targets? Reusing condoms?

You would have to be an absolutely terrible gunsmith to make an AR-15 that isn't functional. They are the crème de la crème of rifles.
Everything I shot went left of the target then I had cataract surgery will see where it goes now.

5% better performance and 60% in parts quality.
lol you don’t have to spend 500% more.

Remember you can own a 5k gun and still get dropped by some crackhead with a hi point. A Gucci gun isn't always all that
My guess is that if you shoot a lot you will see the difference, the radical parts may wear out/break faster.
Same here, 10k rounds through, and I've never had a problem with it
Have 5000 thru mine only thing I swapped out was the trigger.
My Radical is chambered in 7.62x39. You can force pull the mill spec trigger 30-40 times and smooth it out for free. You can also use a small black rubber band around the front take down post to make the gun feel tight.

A 3 chamber brake on a 5.56 gun seems a little overkill lol not saying it’s inherently bad or doesn’t work, it’s just a funny mental image.

I’ve had the RF-15 for almost a year and love it. Put flip up iron sights on it and a Sig Romeo5 red dot with a little stubby grip

@dartdodge69 I've had 2. Had to sell the first due to bills unfortunately. But the 2nd one i bought came standard with 300 BLK and a free 5.56 Barrel, Gas Tube and Block. It was only like 450$
I swapped the barrel out from the 300 BLK but damaged the barrel tip threads on the 300 because the washer was crushed flat and didn't come off without hell.
1k for the base gun is plenty. Massive diminishing returns after that price point.

That f*cking synchronized turn at 7:08 has got me dying.
Above $1,000 or so, I believe you get diminishing returns on an AR - at least on one chambered in 5.56/.223
Big jump from $600 to $1,000
Small jump from $1,000 to $2,000
A lot of the time, "good enough" is good enough.
BCM upper on a PSA or Anderson lower will be the best cost to value ratio for most people
I really almost bought the Radical the other day but ended up going with the Diamond Back DB15 carbon series just because it had the nicer Magpul stock and grip which I liked, and came in FDE Cerakote.
How do you think radical compares to Palmetto state?
@@MrWatson2001palmetto state is way better and more reliable. Radical will give you more malfunctions, I owned both

Larue MBT's are awesome. Have 4 myself
I build with quality cheap parts. You get a production line gun with a hefty price tag if you buy off the shelf.
$1400 spare dollars buys a 1640rd case of M855 ($800), a holosun red dot + magnifier ($500), and 6 Pmags.(6x$15)
if you are on a budget, the cheap platform is the way to go, because you can actually have a complete system and ammo to train with.
Throw in money for a better trigger since that seemed to be the only complaint and save a little on the ammo atleast from the get go.
A good trigger and muzzle device
You definitely hit the nail on the head with this. I like to put together nice things, but the cost of a nicer upper could easily cost two of those rifles. As long as it goes bang when it's supposed to reasonably accurately and stays quiet when it should, I don't care what it cost. I'd like to see them zero these things and push out to 500.
I think the TV style content works better for something like Pepperbox, but i still want me my Darwin Awards and Gun Meme Review style content.

I absolutely love my Radical AR. Has never failed me, always runs smooth, and caught it on sale for $399. Definitely not disappointed in my purchase.
For me it comes down to the base triangle. At each point you have ...
1. Cheap
2. Reliable
3. Accurate
Pick two.
@@vidard9863 Yep. Those massively overpriced gucci guns only exist for hobbyists who don't care about practicality.

4:18 RIP Matts hair.. 😮
If your pins are rotating as your pulling the trigger, on a new gun, you've got something wrong.

I can say that a cheap as fuck PSA you can afford is better than the FN you cant afford.
But there is also a sweet spot between them.
I love my FN FAL but it's a bit of a beast. There is something to be said about running an inexpensive .223 (5.56) and getting 2 MOA at 100 meters, not perfect but not horrible. Never thought the rifle we didn't like that much in the G.I. days would now dominate in 2024.
