i had a bmw r1200 Rallye and now i have a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. They are diferent bikes, ktm it´s faster and more fun to drive, but bmw it´s much more comfortable, has better brakes, more stability at high speed, so your desicion will depend on what are you looking for a bike to have.

Why not take the bikes off road (what adventure bikes were made to do) and test your riding skills. Any chimpanzee can be trained to twist the throttle on a MC and ride in a straight line. I don't think I would refer to either the GS or the KTM as comfortable.....not compared to a Road Glide Special. These adventure bikes were designed as exactly that, adventure. The GS cannot come close to the KTM off road, it does not perform as well on road and has a higher cost of ownership. Here in the US BMW dealers are about as scarce as KTM dealers so finding parts is about equal. I don't have an allegiance to any brand, I own Harleys. KTM's, Yamaha's, Husky's and more. I had one with 70K miles when I sold it (990 Adventure R) and it's still on the road. I also had 2 GSs that were proved, both, to be lemons! My story is on AdvRider. The last GS, grenaded the engine at 20K kms (not miles, kilometers)! I'm pushing my bikes to their limits and KTMs have been, so far, a lot more reliable for the pieces that count (for example...the engine!). Now if you ride like a grandma BMW is certainly a viable option!

@@Offtrackroadadventures It seems like you took this the wrong way and thus reply in a defensive manner. I don't have a 1250, so you're interpreting my answer the wrong way. My point is that you are comparing two bikes in an area they are not in competition, thus the comparison has no real value (I think). That is not a comment that relates to your video-making-skills, it's just a fact about the aim of the two companies that created those bikes.
The 1250 aims to be a confortable long distance touring bike with offroad capabilities. The KTM aims to be more of a performance bike. Yes, they are techically in the big adventure segment, but one outputting 136 hp and the other 163 hp, it seems obvious to me that BMW never meant to compete on acceleration or top speed with this bike, thus the comparison you make is to me has no applicable value...not saying it's not cool to see how quickly the KTM picks up speed, just that the question of whether or not the one bike is quicker than the other, would never enter my mind after reading the specs.
I'm sure you make a lot of great videos and it was not a criticism of your skills.

GNE GNEEEE MY BIKE IS FASTER THAN YOUR...GNEEE. GS 1200 is A BIKE FOR MEN, NOT FOR BOYS.

Now go for a 400 Km ride and tell me if you can still feel your arse on that KTM. I would rather have a BMW or a Triumph for a long ride. Adventure bikes aren’t about drag racing. Just my opinion

Done more than that Pal! Uk to Switzerland and back. With the comfort heated seat option on the KTM the BMW fails to use another excuse.
      Please try again

@@Offtrackroadadventures like I said Pal! It’s not about drag racing and it was my opinion. You ride an adventure bike to look at the scenery as the trip is part of the adventure it’s not about how fast my bike is. Come ride down here in Oz it’s all about the ride not how fast you can get there 👍
