You still have to allow some extra because the wire never wraps as tightly as a string will. For expensive wire like something silicone jacketed it's probably worth the time to do and a good trick. For my chineseium magnet wire, the string would be worth more than the 9 inches of wire I wasted.
See the next video. Any of these UNUN/Baluns can be wired as an autotransformer, and there are several good reasons to do it that way beyond ease of construction
Good video Matt. Simple and efficient. Safety tip - Wear safety glasses when winding mag wire. Ask me how I know. 🤓
That's how its DONE! Thanks for sharing Matt!
Thanks for the prod!
I could probably actually wind this without Chuck and Ape mocking me. Thanks for sharing this Matt!
I doubt there's anything you can do where Chuck and Ape won't mock you Jim, but anything is worth a try :)
Nice. Simpler = good!
Slick, Pro level
Nice Matt!
I use some string and wind with the string. Then cut my wire to length using my string as the length gauge. Works like a champ.

Nice winding Matt 👍
Appreciate you letting me borrow some of your terminology there Ape.
👍
I’ve always wondered why nobody uses the Autotransformer method like a 64-49:1 is done. Does that not work the same?
