The sheer simplicity of the opening theme is genius, especially when it makes its way back to the forefront in such a powerful orchestrall tutti at the end after the piano cadenza. How Prokofiev is able tie all of his musical ideas together is masterful.
It's a masterpiece, And that's just it. There's an abundance, a plethora of masterpieces in music. Nothing special. What is special here is that Miss Wang has brought these notes to the next level. Let's face it. Sergej's second Piano Concert is from now on a masterpiece, transparent and easy to grasp, no longer that weight of ultra-difficult notes and over the top performances. Tonal development has never sounded more clear, think only of that electrifying orchestral climax (part1). It took the piano world more than a century to get here. Now stay, please. Never go back, please. Bolet and Cherkassky paved the way almost half a century ago, I know, but not half with Miss Wang's and Sir Pärt's sprezzatura, if I may say so. Right on, miss Wang, right on.

Marvellous!
Afterwards, Yuja plays Rach 3 as a cool-down. ;)
