If y’all don’t know the director said no matter what, they will make this show. This was long time ago, technology wasn’t that advanced, but the actors and directors tried their best to finish this. Even though there was some financial problems, they made it. This has many more behind the scene story to it. It’s really sad but at the same time I’m happy it’s fully made. RIP director, you did very well, you brought me and others memories. Whenever I watch this, I think of how the actors and directors went through. Its amazing. I can’t explain it all but think about before there isn’t anything called green screen, they had to actually go to places to film. And remember before, long ago, technology isn’t advanced as today. Just imagine they have one camera and doing editing, acting, going to dangerous places r film, when the assistants actually use their strength to pull the actors so they can fly in the show, have financial troubles and people couldn’t eat to fill themselves, etc. But they finally made it, and we all lit. I just describe how proud I am. I’m crying, I will forever love this show.
This is the only way to bring me back my childhood memories with my granny. I used watched it with her and it hurts me to realize that she's no longer here with me.
I don’t know how many times I have watched this when I was a kid! Black Myth Wukong brought me back here! I’m so proud to see so many people all around the world watching it and loving our culture!❤ This show was made in 1980s when people in China were struggling with their lives. The crews worked more than 6 years super hard to create the masterpiece with limited resources! Respect 🫡
my mother and my uncle watched it too. My mom is obsessed with this story. she bought every book she could find about this story and she read it for us when we were little. Now I'm into it too.🥰 We are from Sri Lanka.
I can't believe I'm just now starting to watch this show, all because of the video game "Black Myth: Wukong". I absolutely love Asian mythology with all my heart, because it is so complex yet amazing and full of imagination too! Going to learn more about Wukong through this show first. That way I do not get confused while playing the new game!
Yes. This is the original and best version made in 1986. I was born in 1987, so this legendary series is 1 year older than me. Right now, re-downloading every episode so that I can watch again.
@@richardthantzin87 I was born in 1980, literally the Year of the Monkey. But this series never made it to Australia :C otherwise I would've watched it obsessively like I did the Japanese version 'Monkey Magic' that came out in 1978!
This is the best wukong series of all time. I love it so much and I watch it again and again. Even though it was from 1986, it is still the best. I hope they recreate this series with the modern CGI.
yeah,if watched the series ,there's a lot of coversation with chinese people.almost every chinese people loves it,from old to the young.and the novels is written in about 16 century, and we can even read it without any translations.the theme of journey to the west could be very simple that children love the beautiful moneky king, and it could be very deep, that's a key to what chinese people think or chinese culture.
Came to the right place this is the best version. The modern ones are super lame with pretty boy monkey kings and other bullshit. The actor plays the role so well here.
For those who come here by Black Myth: Wukong, please notice the 2 guys at 2:06, these are 2 of 4 kings you just saw from video of Black Myth: Wukong at 11:45.
I was born in 2004 in Vietnam and I daresay that this is the memory of many people of a same age in my countries. Back then, our national economy just began to grow and only afford to purchase series from Chinese to broadcast as series on TV, and JTTW was really ubiquitous. To a child born in a middle income family, I was more exposed to JTTW and Jin Yong's swashbuckling series about swordmans and old skirmishes than Disney movies, which were not free 😅. However, the quality was really exceptional. Time flies, the current economy allowed me to tap into more genres, yet I gave up on Chinese film franchises long ago as they lost their originality to gorgeous but amateur idols. Thanks to black myth wukong, I again found Chinese quintessence in an old story, and now hold high hopes about other AAA games such as Where Winds Meet, really miss the stories of Jin Yong :((
I came from the black myth Wukong, I'm Brazilian and I've heard about the story of the monkey king, I've even seen some films, but I never got to see the series, I'm thrilled to know more about this legend
This TV series is the latest version about Journey to the West at present. Although there are some minor changes, it generally follows the original work and makes the characters very cute.
All the existing Journey to the West films combined can't hold a candle to the 1986 TV series. Considering that in the original story, the master and his disciples truly went through 81 trials, even if you brought in a master director like Peter Jackson, it would be impossible to explain so much in just 120 minutes.
Honestly aside of the pretty dated effects (Though the costuming is really good for it's time) & the quick transition between Wukong's somersault & him turning into a tree, this was definitely a lot better than I was expecting. In fact, this episode (haven't watched the rest) along with Uproar in Heaven are probably my favorite adaptions of Journey to the West/Xi You Ji, so far...
The more familiar you are with the content of Journey to the West, the deeper your understanding of the Black Myth will be. As a Chinese, I think the artistry of black myth has reached a very high level
It is so awesome that it received a masterpiece of a game now (Black Myth Wukong) to go along with it. I am an American and it has gotten me very interested in Chinese culture and mythology. It is more interesting than our own short history here in America.
I watch this series every week (eagerly waiting) because the story was so good, when I was little in Indonesia. What a nostalgic feeling when I see Black myth Wukong. I really like Sun Wu Kong 😊
This Famous TV series was made in 1986, and it is based on a Chinese novel published in the 16th century. It is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. A very classic and must-watch TV series.
This TV show was on the screen back the year 1986, one of the most classic TV show in China. No matter adults or children still watch it today especially on every summer holidays. 😊
Im still saving for the game, watched more than a couple of episodes when the first trailer came out, now im going to finish the show before i can purchase the game!, if there is anyway I can pay for the show I would be glad to, love the music!
This was the first production I watched thoroughly. Journey to the West is great. I love the story. The adventure. All the eastern productions of Wukong’ story I found are breathtaking, legendary, beautiful, epic tales. ✌♥🙏

you guys have to know that this drama was made over 30 years ago. Although its special effects are not fantastic like what the thechnology can achieve, this is still regarded as the most classic and most successful version of Journey to the West related dramas. Even many vietnamese people like this drama after it was introduced to vietnam many years ago.
Was here because of Dragon Ball and Lego Monkey Kid and I have relatives who grew up with Journey to the West. So I have taken upon myself to learn Mandarin and keep in touch with them

It is only after watching this TV production, do most people who never seen it before realize why Black Myth Wukong sounds the way he is in the opening part of the game when he confronts Er Lang Shen. He isn't supposed to sound manly like Caeser from Planet of the Apes. He is supposed to sound like this as befitting a "trickers" type deity.

This is the most faithful adaptation from the book, nothing after this series is better not even the 95 one with Dicky Cheung.
It's a pity that bgm was deleted
