Once the critics saw that, anything that didn't fit into that mould was criticized and studios panicked. One of the reviews for Hemsworths latest action movie extraction, actually stated they wasted "Hemsworths comedic potential". Another review for tenet had the audacity to say it was a "humourless disappointment" they make it sound like Nolan was the king of comedy prior to tenet. It is this unhealthy power that useless critics like these ones wield to influence the audience's perception that causes the studios to interfere too much these days. Anyways Zack will one day get the recognition he deserves.
It's because Nolan already made good films and he was already a well-known. But if you look at the Batman Begins, it actually has 3 villains. Scarecrow, Falcone (the mob) and Ra's al Gur which can talk about studio wanting to sell more toys, but Nolan managed to write a ORIGIN story and put those 4 villains in it perfectly. He did what spiderman 3 failed to do (also having 3 villains).
@alexander soelaiman Raimi could learn some lessons from Batman begins on how to put 3 villains in movie, which will not only be interesting, but also will very much reveal the main theme of the movie. I didn't say the movie was bad (It's my fav spidey movie too). But it could be better. There is no RIGHT way to structure the movie but there are some principles that 99 times out of 100 will improve the movie.

Zack Snyder fully understands the characters he is working with its just that people don't understand Zack Snyder. But to a lot of haters this is the other way round.

Wow. I didn't know John's rewrote the Third Act of Wonder Woman. To me, the Third Act was the worst part of the film and felt so unconnected. It all makes sense now...

Actually I never understand all the problems people have with the Theatrical release of BvS. I understand it, enjoy it, get all the subplots...Anyway of course I love all the things on the ultimate cut that were added they are a plus on an already great movie.
@@MarceloVitacca For me, I felt it was pretty astonishing how much that half-hour was meaningful to the events of the movie, because while I did understand the theatrical cut of BvS, I felt that lasting half-hour of the EC fleshed out many of those certain points on the story, specially the grand plan of Lex Luthor and the explosion of the capitol in which you can see Superman staying to help the injured. Even the character of Holly Hunter looked like she survived the explosion since she was carried by an ambulance.
20:05 it’s weird knowing that 2 out of all the scenes he showed weren’t in the movie, but the ones that were in ZSJL were actually the better and way less awkward quips.

@@KRYMauL Most definitely. Comics and screenplays have a very different language in adaptation and linework that is so different. Same thing as with books. Books rooted on literature don't have a similar visual language from screenplays for movies. I think the only case that would be a little similar are stage plays, because it's the actors doing the narration and interpretations of their lines and characters, likewise how it's done in movies but without the grand budget

Also, I heard that Zack managed to trim it down even further from 214 (3 hours and 34 minutes) to 140 (2 hours and 20 minutes) before he stepped down. Why the studio was still unhappy with that is anyone's guess. I mean, Man of Steel was 2 hours and 23 minutes. Before that, The Dark Knight Rises was 2 hours and 45 minutes. When you release a superhero movie that's that long, what's 2 hours and 20 minutes really?
Give me a bad director’s film over a committee film any day of the week. I don’t care if it’s good or bad, as long as it’s the true vision. I still can’t get over that they used the same particle overlay you find for free on a 300 million dollar movie (23:02). I used that collection for my student film because I was handling everything on my own.
Coming from myself, a Marvel and MCU fan, what Geoff Johns did to Zack’s vision is an embarrassment. And say what you will about Kevin Feige, but he would never step on a director’s passion like that. It’s like you said, Johns is the poor man’s Feige. Sure Marvel is happier and more hopeful in tone, and that works. For Marvel. The whole point of DC is being different, unique and separate from Marvel. I’ve always had a love for DC even if I’ve always liked Marvel a bit more. Batman is up there with Spider-Man to me in regards to the best superheroes in history. I’m very much looking forward to Zack’s Justice League as much as I’m looking forward to the MCU’s next movies and their next saga. I love their overarching connection to a big saga finale, but I also absolutely love Zack’s self-contained Superman story that can introduce us to other DC character stories by having them be supporting roles first. It’s different and can definitely work if you keep messy grubby studio hands out of it. Change is good. DC doesn’t have to copy Marvel to compete. They definitely could have, and sure, it may have been good that way too, but being new and different is always better, and more refreshing, so a guy like me, can have Marvel and DC doing their own thing, and loving both equally. From an MCU fan to the DCEU fans here in the comments, I’m glad we’re getting the Snyder Cut, and I’m looking forward to watching it with you all. ❤️💙

Those photos really make me feel bummed that Rick Famuyiwa never got to do The Flash, I don't know how he is as a director, but I remember how much he was sharing his enthusiasm and research on the character to give the movie preparation, and he was really digesting a lot of Flash memorabilia. It's just depressing to go see those photos back again, and realizing how many broken promises WB tried to make.

I'm very said that Zack had whole story arc's planned out for each Justice League characters. By making Superman in man of steel more human with conflicted emotions about his powers is better than making him a generic superhero who embrace's their powers more than they hate it(which is more Marvel than WB thought but okay..) The way he showed all of the Justice League and their motives in the film were amazing. And who ever wrote the script, I want to give them props to because the script was good(don't forget to give props to the screenwriter)

exactly i dont know if it will be amazing or not but i wanna see his vision. Fun fact that man of steel prequel comic with supergirl also involved Johns. Snyder denied Supergirl ever being in that ancient scout ship. And has been very stern on there being 1 person to escape the scout ship see that man of steel Vero commentary at 45:13. Yet dc put out a weird Wal-Mart tie in comic that supposedly connected with the film. One that still has fans confused with how Supergirl really could be applied, casts doubts about man of steel as an origin story, and could be a reason why no ones quick to jump on that project due to confusion.

Both David Ayer and Zack Snyder were casualties of studio greed and studio incompetence. Snyder is like a shy Nolan, both literally and thematically. Nolan takes his time when talking and gets out what he needs to say, but Snyder stumbles over his words and you get an idea of his point, buts blunt. Same for stories.
Awesome video. As a big DC fan, I knew parts of the studio politics but didn't realise the full extent of the meddling and dramas going on behind the scenes. Great research and well constructed video. Walking out of the cinema after seeing Josstice League left me feeling flat and the best I could take away was the ending scene that hinted of something potentially good to come but seeing the success of the SnyderCut movement and seeing this long awaited cut coming to screens in the near future has really got me pumped again for Zack's original vision.

I would love for them to let Zack Snyder finish his original story Idea of those 10 films if possible, then they could go the MCU route if they want with more villains and characters, but I want to see Zack's completed vision with not just Justice League but the other films he had planned for it and Justice League Part 2 and Part 3 I'd love to see all 10 of those films then DC & WB could do what they want with these characters after. At the very very least I'd like Zack's Justice League story to be finished but the whole story was supposed to be told with 10 films and we'd miss out on a lot of plot points for Justice League Part 2, and Part 3 if we skipped the other 3 films in-Between, so I really hope the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League does well so we can convince WB and AT&T to at least finish Zack's story with his Idea.

Basically sums up what ive seen, heard and experienced through the years since 2012. Zacks opinion on DC keeps it own pace and track compared to MCU sticks true since MoS. Pre at&t WB shouldve just trust the directory from the movies, i thought it was a great idea, was looking forward to the flash, affleck Batman and Wan's non-mcu styled Aquaman. Imagine amazing movies we could have now., with their own stories.
I think a lot more of that dialogue than you realize was actually in the Snyder cut considering how some of it was in that original teaser like “I hear you can talk to fish”. Also the Superman laughing saying I want to die (no mustache removal), and the Steve Trevor line doesn’t have the Ben Affleck reshoot bloat or wig so I think those were also original especially since it’s the only time Bruce is a duck in the whole movie which is far more in keeping with his attitude from BvS

Most of the alleged "Geoff Johns rewritten dialogue" you listed, was in Snyder's version. Shows that a lot of this was pure Internet speculation. Bruce telling The Flash he was rich. Cyborg telling Alfred he'll take it from here. The Flash telling Bruce about the Bat Signal. All in The Snyder Cut.
12:30 I agree with all of your points except the one involving the 21 movies buildup of Endgame and the Jimmy Olsen critique. While I love how the DCEU was shaping up, I also cannot deny the fact what the MCU has achieved is unprecedented and the films did take risks but not as much as BvS but Infinity War and Endgame ramped up the stakes and took risks which made it all the more impactful as we had gotten to know those characters over 21 films and it felt earned even if some of the films in between were mediocre. Another point I disagree on Olsen's representation. I fully understand and appreciate what Zack was trying to achieve with the nature of the world he had set BvS in and how it was a self-contained story but it was still utterly disrespectful to just out Olsen like that in such a weak manner. They could have used any other minor character based in the comics or come up with a new one to establish the world the movie was set in but Olsen is an integral part of Superman and in many ways is the heart of Superman and his lore. He, Lois, and Martha Kent are the ones who ground Superman in reality. If Snyder really couldn't afford to flesh the character of Jimmy Olsen to tell his story, then he should have just left him out of the picture rather than shoot him off-screen.

I remember this in advance, I was going to see BvS the night before and notice the review embargo was still down. The earlier social media in embargo for the LA premier was already lifted with mixed reactions.

@@JonArrynGarza I have one question since you did this research, I know Zack planned a 4 to 5 hour film with Justice League, but recently I also remember reading somewhere that he also wanted BvS to be 4 hours long too, with it being split into 2 films I don't know for sure if this is true or not, I just wanted to see if you knew anything about this considering all the research you did for what happened to Justice League?
Actually I never understand all the problems people have with the Theatrical release of BvS. I understand it, enjoy it, get all the subplots...Anyway of course I love all the things on the ultimate cut that were added they are a plus on an already great movie.
@@MarceloVitacca For me, I felt it was pretty astonishing how much that half-hour was meaningful to the events of the movie, because while I did understand the theatrical cut of BvS, I felt that lasting half-hour of the EC fleshed out many of those certain points on the story, specially the grand plan of Lex Luthor and the explosion of the capitol in which you can see Superman staying to help the injured. Even the character of Holly Hunter looked like she survived the explosion since she was carried by an ambulance.
I'll stand by Snyder's side forever, he did so much to give us the movie that we deserve as DC fans

@@KRYMauL Most definitely. Comics and screenplays have a very different language in adaptation and linework that is so different. Same thing as with books. Books rooted on literature don't have a similar visual language from screenplays for movies. I think the only case that would be a little similar are stage plays, because it's the actors doing the narration and interpretations of their lines and characters, likewise how it's done in movies but without the grand budget

Also, I heard that Zack managed to trim it down even further from 214 (3 hours and 34 minutes) to 140 (2 hours and 20 minutes) before he stepped down. Why the studio was still unhappy with that is anyone's guess. I mean, Man of Steel was 2 hours and 23 minutes. Before that, The Dark Knight Rises was 2 hours and 45 minutes. When you release a superhero movie that's that long, what's 2 hours and 20 minutes really?
The thing was... they wanted Snyder OUT. they weren’t going to be happy with even a 45 minute cut.

I still can’t get over that they used the same particle overlay you find for free on a 300 million dollar movie (23:02). I used that collection for my student film because I was handling everything on my own.
Coming from myself, a Marvel and MCU fan, what Geoff Johns did to Zack’s vision is an embarrassment. And say what you will about Kevin Feige, but he would never step on a director’s passion like that. It’s like you said, Johns is the poor man’s Feige. Sure Marvel is happier and more hopeful in tone, and that works. For Marvel. The whole point of DC is being different, unique and separate from Marvel. I’ve always had a love for DC even if I’ve always liked Marvel a bit more. Batman is up there with Spider-Man to me in regards to the best superheroes in history. I’m very much looking forward to Zack’s Justice League as much as I’m looking forward to the MCU’s next movies and their next saga. I love their overarching connection to a big saga finale, but I also absolutely love Zack’s self-contained Superman story that can introduce us to other DC character stories by having them be supporting roles first. It’s different and can definitely work if you keep messy grubby studio hands out of it. Change is good. DC doesn’t have to copy Marvel to compete. They definitely could have, and sure, it may have been good that way too, but being new and different is always better, and more refreshing, so a guy like me, can have Marvel and DC doing their own thing, and loving both equally. From an MCU fan to the DCEU fans here in the comments, I’m glad we’re getting the Snyder Cut, and I’m looking forward to watching it with you all. ❤️💙

Those photos really make me feel bummed that Rick Famuyiwa never got to do The Flash, I don't know how he is as a director, but I remember how much he was sharing his enthusiasm and research on the character to give the movie preparation, and he was really digesting a lot of Flash memorabilia. It's just depressing to go see those photos back again, and realizing how many broken promises WB tried to make.

I'm very said that Zack had whole story arc's planned out for each Justice League characters. By making Superman in man of steel more human with conflicted emotions about his powers is better than making him a generic superhero who embrace's their powers more than they hate it(which is more Marvel than WB thought but okay..) The way he showed all of the Justice League and their motives in the film were amazing. And who ever wrote the script, I want to give them props to because the script was good(don't forget to give props to the screenwriter)

Fun fact that man of steel prequel comic with supergirl also involved Johns. Snyder denied Supergirl ever being in that ancient scout ship. And has been very stern on there being 1 person to escape the scout ship see that man of steel Vero commentary at 45:13. Yet dc put out a weird Wal-Mart tie in comic that supposedly connected with the film.
One that still has fans confused with how Supergirl really could be applied, casts doubts about man of steel as an origin story, and could be a reason why no ones quick to jump on that project due to confusion.

Snyder is like a shy Nolan, both literally and thematically. Nolan takes his time when talking and gets out what he needs to say, but Snyder stumbles over his words and you get an idea of his point, buts blunt. Same for stories.

Awesome video. As a big DC fan, I knew parts of the studio politics but didn't realise the full extent of the meddling and dramas going on behind the scenes. Great research and well constructed video. Walking out of the cinema after seeing Josstice League left me feeling flat and the best I could take away was the ending scene that hinted of something potentially good to come but seeing the success of the SnyderCut movement and seeing this long awaited cut coming to screens in the near future has really got me pumped again for Zack's original vision.

I would love for them to let Zack Snyder finish his original story Idea of those 10 films if possible, then they could go the MCU route if they want with more villains and characters, but I want to see Zack's completed vision with not just Justice League but the other films he had planned for it and Justice League Part 2 and Part 3 I'd love to see all 10 of those films then DC & WB could do what they want with these characters after. At the very very least I'd like Zack's Justice League story to be finished but the whole story was supposed to be told with 10 films and we'd miss out on a lot of plot points for Justice League Part 2, and Part 3 if we skipped the other 3 films in-Between, so I really hope the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League does well so we can convince WB and AT&T to at least finish Zack's story with his Idea.

Wow. I used to have such respect for Johns for his work on FlashPoint and his run on Green Lantern but his actions on the DCEU is just downright despicable
I've always found his stuff to be hit or miss. He's done some great in the comics but I've also disliked a lot of his visions for certain characters.
What an utterly bizarre interview clip at 10:25. It's like the guy is physically incapable of seeing that the MCU also tries to do the exact same thing he is criticizing Zack of doing, specially in the first movies. The dude just goes into immediate denial mode.

Basically sums up what ive seen, heard and experienced through the years since 2012.
Zacks opinion on DC keeps it own pace and track compared to MCU sticks true since MoS. Pre at&t WB shouldve just trust the directory from the movies, i thought it was a great idea, was looking forward to the flash, affleck Batman and Wan's non-mcu styled Aquaman. Imagine amazing movies we could have now., with their own stories.
I think a lot more of that dialogue than you realize was actually in the Snyder cut considering how some of it was in that original teaser like “I hear you can talk to fish”. Also the Superman laughing saying I want to die (no mustache removal), and the Steve Trevor line doesn’t have the Ben Affleck reshoot bloat or wig so I think those were also original especially since it’s the only time Bruce is a duck in the whole movie which is far more in keeping with his attitude from BvS

12:30 I agree with all of your points except the one involving the 21 movies buildup of Endgame and the Jimmy Olsen critique. While I love how the DCEU was shaping up, I also cannot deny the fact what the MCU has achieved is unprecedented and the films did take risks but not as much as BvS but Infinity War and Endgame ramped up the stakes and took risks which made it all the more impactful as we had gotten to know those characters over 21 films and it felt earned even if some of the films in between were mediocre. Another point I disagree on Olsen's representation. I fully understand and appreciate what Zack was trying to achieve with the nature of the world he had set BvS in and how it was a self-contained story but it was still utterly disrespectful to just out Olsen like that in such a weak manner. They could have used any other minor character based in the comics or come up with a new one to establish the world the movie was set in but Olsen is an integral part of Superman and in many ways is the heart of Superman and his lore. He, Lois, and Martha Kent are the ones who ground Superman in reality. If Snyder really couldn't afford to flesh the character of Jimmy Olsen to tell his story, then he should have just left him out of the picture rather than shoot him off-screen.
