Hope local businesses can come up with a solution that benefits both businesses and the homeless. Mahalo
Bradda like save some money
The bill says $1.50 for every $1000 of taxable real estate. So if you own a million dollar property your income tax will go up by $1,500.
No, $15,000 every million.
Yes. $1.50 for every $1,000. So $1,500 is correct.
So they want to improve downtown but charge the business owners inorder to pay for it? is that what im getting here? Interesting.
Yes, businesses should pay for taking away space for people to live in. Some people think this world is made only for people to profit. But this world is made for people to live.
Good for the local businesses to take charge & hopefully they clean up the homeless problem, while supporting the local businesses.
They're not interested in low income housing.
Very few are in government. Why are tiny homes and off grid solutions essentially outlawed? Because, it doesn't rely and go back through them. The so-called homeless "problem" is more 'make area ____ look nice (for tourism..) and get the "homeless" in 'homes' and living 'normal lives' so they can be controlled like everyone else.. *Not merely get the homeless off the street or we need to help those poor suffering homeless.
So as you said, you guys own all this property in downtown Hilo but are against this bill? Here's my response. What have you guys been doing before this bill was put on the table? Seems like you guys are the ones who let this problem fester so long that we needed this bill for action. Now that the sh*t has caught up to you and threatens your power and wallet, you don't want action? Even you said it out your own mouth, Shin, "We need action!" Talk is talk. Don't use my home, Hawaii, a part of your manipulation. Where was "team Hawaii" all this time? If this town was sooo important to you guys, why did you let it get this bad?
I hope the citizens making statements at the city council meeting weren't interfering with the councilwoman's phone scrolling time.
Downtown needs a whole lot of help and business in favor of a whole lot of help... but not this help... not this help... anything but this.
So sorry if BJ is suffereing from TBI. Glad he was unsuccessful in his gubernatorial run and he would have been a puppet at best.
As far as the downtown cleanup bill goes it sounds like the sponsors overreached in looking to put a lien on properties in the "improvement district". This is clearly an overreach and I would like to propose that the sponsors of this bill have the liens apply to their personal homes if they think it is a good idea.
So when it hurts da wallet, we do something...
Don't blame me, I voted for BJ for Governor 🤙
Scared of the homeless?😂
Drugs, homeless and crime….
People are hurting, people are hurting and solutions aren't found in decisions by the... the property owners want to maximize their money, not solve problems of society.
