Lucy takes the long way home
Meets me in a field of stone
She says I don't know how I'm supposed to feel
My body's cold my guts are twisted steel
And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein
Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't wanna spend all my time
Waiting for lighting to strike
So underneath the concrete sky
Lucy puts her hand in mine
She says life's a game we're meant to lose
Stick by me and I with stick by you
'Cause I'm like a princess in a castle high
Waiting for a kiss to bring me back to life
But I don't wanna spend my time
Waiting for just another guy
Anyone who binge watches Chuck has to love this song. This and songs by Nico are some of the true gems from that show.
So true! I binge watch Chuck at least once a year.
I need to start Chuck over, but I heard this song watching United States of Tara
Bon iver 🔥

"You should know that you're my home Chuck. You always have been."
Beautiful answer,my dear!!
❤
I miss you Chuck...
+PopiReal So do I
to me it was the best TV series ever
+PopiReal That's how I found this song too! Now it's, like, my second favorite song!
+PopiReal Just rewatched 'Chuck Versus the Suitcase' for the fifth time. Such a great show. I'll always miss it.
+Mathy Lippens Just rewatched Chuck (all the seasons) a lot of times. Epic. better series ever made.
I feel like the world would be a better place if we heard more stuff like this on the radio. Keep it up.
That's really nice of you to say! Thanks for listening
I totally agree. We need more talent on the radio! Jeremy FTW!
Jeremy Messersmith I know you probably won't see this, but i'd just like to say I found out about you from this song being featured in Chuck, and a friend of mine who was in the Violet! music video, and I'm quite happy I did.
Thats how I found it! 👌
It was either 90.3 kfai or 89.3 the current
I have an entire playlist made up of almost every song ever played in Chuck, but this is the one I listen to most. The scene it's played in is one of my favorites of the entire show, but it is also simply a spectacular song. It manages to be haunting, romantic, depressing, and hopeful all at once. It's so relaxing to listen to, and I have it on repeat wayyyy too often haha! Wish there was more music like this out there!
Me too. My playlist is labelled "Music from Chuck". It's all from the series. Even have some of musical scores as well. I would never have been exposed to some of this truly beautiful music if it weren't for "Chuck". I don't know that I've ever seen a series blend the music they chose for it so consistently, so perfectly.
Jessica Davis can you make that playlist public plz
Red Turtle what is the song played in the episode where Devon and and Ellie were marrying. It includes PA PA PA PA PA PA PA
Lalhriatzuala Khawlhring Looking at the sun i think
@@rithmer7452 Thanks dude it's correct
Not to be too morbid or anything, but I think they were in love and then he died. When she says "my body's cold, my guts are twisted steel" and they're meeting in a field of stone...I think she's visiting his grave. That's why she's taking the long way home. So she can see his grave. I love this song, it's so sad and beautiful. Too much of life is spent avoiding things that are sad. As much as it hurts, even the sadness can be beautiful and it helps focus the happiness we feel later on.
Reminds me of the movie 'Inside Out'
I think you're wrong, Connor. Close, but wrong. It's the AWARENESS of death -- that 'life's a game we're meant to lose' -- that motivates her urgency. They meet in a graveyard and it's the place -- the surroundings -- that remind her of mortality and the briefness of our lives. She doesn't want to spend her life cloistered in a tower, awaiting rescue by some idealized prince who may or may not come. Waiting like Frankenstein's monster for a shock to bring her back to life. Carpe diem. Make a commitment.
"Lucy puts her hand in mine."
Either way, it's a sublimely beautiful song. And the animation is inspired and perfect.
Connor Dillivan I always thought of it as 2 people trying to make their way through the loss of a common loved one together
dang thats deep
I like your interpretation of this song. I think it's right on target.
2023, and still waiting for a Chuck Movie!!…this song is soooo beautiful!!…happy that finally Sarah’s suitcase was not their Achiles’ heel!!…😂😂😂
Bring back CHUCK!!!
Lyrics:
Lucy takes the long way home
Meets me in a field of stone
She says I don't know how I'm supposed to feel
My body's cold my guts are twisted steel
I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein
Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time
Waiting for lightning to strike
Underneath a concrete sky
Lucy puts her hand in mine
She says life's a game we're meant to lose
But stick by me and I will stick by you
I'm like a princess in a castle high
Waiting for a kiss to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time
Waiting for just another guy
After finding this song, like many others, through Chuck, I took the time to listen to everything else Messersmith had to offer.
I found Silver City and fell in love.
If you ever read this in person, I'd just like to say that everything you've made has helped me in so many ways, through good and bad.
Thank you Jeremy. A million times.
Any other Chuck fans still here? Oct 2024
Sure ❤
Just got season 4 of Chuck for Christmas, rewatched the second episode and heard this song
glad to see i'm not the only one who was brought here by chuck
Chuck the world will always
Miss you!
Yes. Very much so.
hell yeah.they should do a movie
corey peter, oh no, I guess it would be interesting but they would probably butcher it. They did with Psych when they made a movie
another great song from Chuck I mean when you see Sarah finally move in and than we see the picture that she had since season 1 and telling Chuck that she is his hone and always has been was so amazing and beautiful
Still can't get over how perfect this song is for Lockwood and Co
Aces, Charles.
Firehunter04 you’re aces
Well you just made me cry, so fuck you.
.
Also thanks
I love finding little treasures like this. Beautiful song.
Heres another treasure that no one even knows about ruclips.net/video/qd8_8puENiA/видео.html
Awesome song in one of my most favorite Chuck moments. Elli with her photobook. And one of Chuck and Sarahs most touching moments. Really luv Chuck.
chuck brought me here,,its beautiful song
Al J
I have never seen more than a few minutes of Chuck, but watch this video again closely. It is perfect -- a genuine masterpiece, and moving beyond words.
Literally every comment is about Chuck... I love it!
Love this track......Chuck
I just heard this on Chuck and instantly loved it!
I don't think he's singing from a woman's perspective. I think he's a man in the song who is reciting what a woman told him. I think the man is dead or dying and the woman is by his side telling him these to bring comfort and telling him if he's gone she'd never find another man as wonderful as him and so on and that she'll always love him. I really love this song.
so many feels with this song :') Chuck nostalgia
Damon Oloughlin this song brings me back. The nostalgia is so so real with this song
Like many comments below, I heard this song on Chuck. Today, I finally learned how to play it on the guitar. It's not difficult (capo on forth fret) to play but, the best part is now when I'm with friends or a Guitar Center, I can play this song to people who have never heard it before. And give Jeremy some well-deserved promotion - 13 years later. Though as of today this video has over 1.5 million views, so I'm not sure how much help I can give. 🙂
I just heard it on Chuck this evening, and can’t wait to give it a try on my guitar! So glad it’s getting the recognition it deserves! 💕 🎶
I LOVE Chuck and died when I heard this song!
She says "life's a game we're meant to lose, but stick by me and I will stick by you"
That line always gets me
The scene where this song was played in an episode of United States of Tara was just simply amazing.
''You're my home, Chuck''
"You're my home Chuck..you always have been."
My now fiance, as of 12 am Halloween morning, proposed to me with this song and video playing in the background. He asked me to be the bride to his Frankenstein's Monster. I played this for him a few months into our relationship, and it really struck a chord with him too. This will also be our first song that we dance to at our Halloween wedding. Thank you for this song, thank you and the animator for your beautiful collaboration. Thank you for being the soundtrack to a wonderful moment in my life.
Who still comes back to this in 2022/23?
This reminds me of the book series ”Lockwood & co”, the main character’a name is Lucy, and she is a ghost-hunter in a England invaded by guests from “the other side”. A really heart-warming story, highly reccomend it!
I’ve read Lockwood and co too! And honestly yeah this song reminds me so much of the books, specifically Lockwood and Lucy
I love those books
YES!
I miss Chuck. And the amazing music it brought me to.
My heart had been broken yesterday, again. Before I met him, I felt like a Frankenstein. He brought light in my live but no lighting. Because I fell in love with him but he doesn't even matter. We kissed, we laughed, we cuddled, but I couldn't make him feel anything .. Now I'm Frankenstein again. I guess I need a lot of lightings now to come back alive. Thanks for such a wonderful song. It makes me feel less alone in this grieving.
I have a book full of songs I love I added this to it because the song is so mesmerising and once my book is full of my favourite songs I will leave it somewhere or drop it somewhere, somebody will find it and listen to hopefully all of the songs then eventually pass it on spreading music to everybody anywhere. I do hope this can be one of there favourites.
Great idea! This is a beautiful song my brother recorded. If you like it add it two your book! ruclips.net/video/qd8_8puENiA/видео.html
she says "life's a game we're meant to lose, but stick by me and I will stick by you"
favourite line
Mad respect to Mr. Jeremy not only for making great music but also for paying attention to fans. Well done good sir. You're a kewl guy!
"You're My Home Chuck, You Always Have Been" - Sarah :'(
Still miss Chuck and still rewatching once a year or two.
Damn I love this show.
Simply lovely.
Hey, thanks!
I heard this on Chuck and now I'm in love with it!
I don't think it's just because of Chuck that I continue to watch the series to this day.
This man's voice is like food for the soul.
found this song on a diary I wrote in 2011 :) I miss these times, so much has changed
This is my favorite song . . .I had this playing for my high school graduation slide show.
The singer's voice is just amazing and makes me cry every time i hear this song.
This song has so much meaning for me. In my school's production of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," I played Lucy. The boy I liked, who was also in the play, knew I am a huge...and I mean HUGE...fan of Jeremy Messersmith. After the performance, he drove me to a graveyard in Minneapolis. We talked about things, and then he took out his guitar, and SANG "A Girl, a Boy, and a Graveyard!!!" Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of the happy memory associated with it. Thanks, Jeremy!
2017 and still Jamming to this
*Team Bartowski*
I saw this song on Chuck, and now I can't stop listening to it. It's beautiful.

i feel like someone opened my chest and took my heart and everything that held me together
is indescribable this song is perfect, Congratulations
Also came here from United States of Tara. I had to watch that ending several times, it was really good and this song helped it become good. I was surprised to see such a small viewcount, more people need to hear this...
It's been years and I just can't stop coming backk to this song...
I've listened to this song for just over 10 years now, and it still gives me goosebumps in the same way it did back then. Incredible, love it so much.
Thank you Chuck and jeremy for bringing me back home
Randomly found this song on Spotify couldn’t be more happier didn’t even know it was on chuck love that show btw
This song has literally changed my life. No matter what I do, this song is there, playing right along side my heart. I really can't thank you enough for making this, I don't know where I'd be now if i'd never heard it
I can't stop listening to this song. I suffer from bipolar disorder and this is so soothing. Thank you so much. Its so raw and honest, find it incredibly beautiful.
It's crazy how this song fills a whole 3 minutes and still seems like 1 min
I could listen to this forever
I love the cast of Chuck for incorporating this beautiful song into the show. :')
I love the lyrics "I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein waiting for a shock to bring me back to life" and "I'm like a princess in a castle I'm waiting for a kiss to bring me back to life". *cried*
This is a beautiful song:
Mini Review:
The ambient guitar picking opening this Jeremy Messersmith song is soon joined with a subtle violin stroke giving the piece a happy yet some how cautionary sound. His voice has high pitched tones that culminate in a nicely positioned "ooh ooh ooh". The art work is also creative and backdrops the song with a tale of two foxes struggling for Love, although the message he seems to be suggesting is: "Just settle".
:)
I don't know what it is about this song but it moves me!! :)
My first exposure to Jeremy Messersmith music, very nice, very impressive and so I began to follow........
This song gets me in that one place...you know the one. Proud that this man is part of my local music scene.
watching the end of s03e04 of united state of tara with this song make me wanna cary one of best end of tv show since a lot of time
I love the acoustic WAY better, there's no difference between the recording and the acoustic. both ARE equally fantastic, but I think the acoustic is better. Been listening to this song for over a year now. Can't stop singing along and can't stop listening to it. Thanks. :)
I came across this going through different live Mumford & Sons songs... Can honestly say I am glad I clicked on this. Amazing.
I saw him live last night and talked to him for awhile after the concert. He's just so nice and friendly, really honest and direct with fans. He's a really great artist and person altogether, which is so refreshing. Its rare that people with this much talent don't come off as entitled.
I miss Chuck so much 😭 it's not very famous in Germany but i loved and i love it 😍😍
Ich finde es schade das es nicht so populär ist, weil CHUCK nach meiner Meinung nach eine der besten Serien ist die ich jemals gesehen habe
I first learned of Messersmith from watching a performance of his on tpt. Lot's of love for well performed music.
Damn its a shame i heard this today on chuck. Its a song from 2010? How could i missed this? Anyway imma fan! Beautifull song.
thanks for coming out!
I just want to wake up tomorrow... listening this song. Just because it's a beautiful way to wake up.
Chuck

This song was on Chuck and I'm thankful everyday for that fact. This is my all-time favourite song. Absolutely beautiful, makes me tear up.
Bring back Chuck!!!
This might be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard
I've been practicing this song on guitar for years, it's the only song I've tried to learn that can keep my attention for more than one day. I'm a huge fan :)
One of my all time favorite songs. Wonderfully written.
yet another reason why Chuck is the best show ever! The show has tremendous songs!
I found Jeremy last summer when I saw him live and was completely blown away. This is real talent and real music. We need more songs like this.
Sad thing is when this song was first uploaded on RUclips, Chuck was still being made for us to enjoy
now that chuck is over im going back and listening to all the songs that were the most memorable throughout the seriess! thank you josh schwartz and chris fedak for creating chuck and bringing all these amazing songs in our lives!!!
When I can't think of a song to play while I'm bored or playing for people, I absently start pick strumming this song. Beautiful
Such a little and fourteen year old song.
But timeless and just brilliant.
Wow !
i found him on spotify and I'm in love with his music agh
