A kid in the seventies always turned on the radio because of singers like Newton John, Carole King, Diana Ross, Joni Mitchell, and Donna Summer. You could never get enough of these women.
Sorry Millennial, it was fabulous growing up in the 70s and 80s. Because it was a lot of Olivia... and no cell phones. A cop drove me home and dropped me off at my parents home while this song was playing when we got pulled over. No ticket, no fine, no beating. I got grounded for a month and learned my lesson. Then I got a job and stayed honest for 40 years. Protesting didn’t pay my bills. Thank you, ONJ.
Love, love, love, ONJ. Saw her in Grease as a kid and fell in love. Always loved her voice and thought she was a beautiful human being inside and out. Hearing this makes me a little sad thinking about how much the world has changed. If you grew up in the 70's and 80's you were really lucky. Good times. Great memories
It's cheesy, but better than any music in 2019. Music today is so obvious, "I Love You Lucifer", yadi yadi yadi, Olivia was at least not so obvious....
Goodbye our Beautiful Soul Kiss! Thank you for being my music inspiration growing up....and to the thousands of little girls who sang your songs into our curling irons. You will always be remembered.
Just think -- you never would have heard of her if Marie Osmond didn't pass on Grease. One of the epic all- time fails. Gwenyth Paltrow turning down Titanic is right up there with it.
When Whitney Houston died they all said of her that she was the "Voice" . But i could never look at Olivia and think anything other than she is the voice too . Her eyes and her voice are like laser beams going right through your heart . She will always be perfect no matter what . I hope that she wins her fight with that damned Cancer , she doesn't deserve that hurt . Love you always Olivia .
what a face..absolutely beautiful.and her look in Youre The O ne That I Want in the grease youtube vid is so sexy.face is so much, perfect bodies are only the icing on the cake!
She had such a lovely, sweet voice. I remember when I was about 14 or15 I had a huge crush on this beautiful lady. Olivia was about 27 then, I guess. To me, she seemed like an older woman. Pretty funny now, when I think back on those days. I'd say that "A Little More Love" is probably her best song. I just love what she does with her voice in this one. I'll miss this beautiful, talented young lady!!!!
I love Olivia too but I have seen no one on here give credit where it is really due and that's John farrar one of the best pop song writers no one has ever heard of. He wrote most of her best songs. Magic being one of them
For the love of all that is holy, can record labels bring back the days when almost every pop star could actually SING? GOD, she had such a beautiful voice.
5/8/21: Out-of-the-blue selection. I remember my mother was so disappointed when ONJ went "Pop." I, on the other hand, quite liked the change. THIS song, "Xanadu," "Make A Move On Me," and to a lesser extent....."Physical," are my favorites.
Of course the schools were much better then. Teachers and the students actually celebrated the calendar and Christmas holidays back then, unlike today's PC boneheads.
I was 5 years old when my parents brought home the Grease double album with all the pictures form the movie and while I was too young to see the movie i created an entire storyline from the pics. I loved her then and now; girls today take a lesson. Sweet and demure; and TALENTED.
Jesus......why can’t people create a pop song as superb as this, in 2021?!? It is on par with Blondie’s Heart Of Glass. I am 48 now and listening to this reminds me when I was actually happy and genuinely looked forward to the future. Every day, this world drives me crazier than yesterday.
Hit me in the grocery store... and with a completely different song/artist playing on the P.A. even! Olivia was truly the most gorgeous creatures ever to walk the face of the Earth. Holy cripes, man... Watching this video made me realize the extent to which I forgot women could be beautiful.
After most likely rehearsing this song 100 times he probably needed to have some fun. Myself, I could have had fun just listening and looking at Olivia.
Great composition and incredible vocals! A perfect slice of 80's pop! However, the keyboard player steals the show! Just watch him, he's really feeling it, he's jumping around like a nut on every accent and push! I had to watch twice just for him! Hahaha
My favorite songs by Olivia: 1)Hopelessly devoted to you 2)Magic 3)Suspended in time 4) I honestly love you 5)Have you never been mellow 6)You’re the one that I want 7)A little more love 8)Xanadu 9)Suddenly 10)Warm and tender
I remember hearing her music on the radio in 1980s now i realize how well she sang and music composition was pure gold. New music can't touch the natural talent and poise she has.
What a great song! All the changes fit so well together. Song writing like this doesn't exist today. Everything sounds like the same lame 3-chord crap.
This song helped get me through the seventh grade as I listened to it at night from my bedside radio. Eyes closed, thoughts of Olivia, a soft pillow, and lots of Kleenex nearby... TMI?

Olivia Newton John was the reason young men went to see the movie "Grease" when it came out. She was a stunningly beautiful woman.
Dear lord. There will never be another Olivia Newton John.
You got that right!!!! :)
Forever!

Agree completely!!! I grew up in the 70's so I know exactly what you are talking about. Everything was so much better back then !!
My most favorite Olivia Newton John song...roller skating in the late 70s, early 80s.... sorry kiddos, we had the best childhoods. 😏😏😏
So true
Way better music for sure!

I haven’t heard this song in 40 years. Holy shit that groove in the chorus is genius!
Actual bands need to get back into making pop songs.
I was in the 8th grade and I'm still loving her!
Great song, great singer, great production! Genius indeed! Another little earworm from an era of great songwriting.

Olivia: extraordinary voice. Linda Ronstadt: THE VOICE!!!
A voice like honey, beautiful face, a neck like a swan. GOD really was showing off when He created Olivia.
Absolutely fantastic vocal range....she can be really breathey and tender and then really belt it out loud when required.

I hope so too... She seems like a really decent human being
Whitney screeched a lot;
Excellent. One of the most beautiful, underrated voices of all time. Amazing.
Case in point, virtually no one else can sing this song.
Probably the most beautiful woman God almighty ever created, and then that voice? WOW!!!
I agree
Absolutely
dang, there's only billions bein' serv'd--but yes! not like her! she's beyond all that, and hopefully so are we!
I loved her in the 70s and 80s much.
still in love with this woman
One of those songs I can just listen to over and over again and still get goose bumps
Omg me too
Yes indeed. I had this one on 8 track and I was a little girl in my room singing and dancing to this one over and over.!!!
This woman was my first crush EVER, we'll never forget you Olivia ❤ I'll love you forever.
This song arrangement is devastatingly brilliant...

Yes, Magic first came about in the movie Xanadu. IIRC. It was the call of a muse to her subject.

She’s so beautiful . Love her and her music she’s still gorgeous today you go girl . Your the best two thumps up . Her music touches my soul truly .
Always loved Olivia Newton -John since this song before she was Sandy on Grease. My Mom told me my aunt want name Olivia beautiful name born 1970.
Fly high Olivia.
Thank you for all your beauty, and all your humanity.
I heard this in Taco Bell the other day. It made me sad thinking of how much time has passed
Yeh tell me about it !
39 years
Yes, heard it at WalMart. Made me sad too! So many memories of a great era in life that has since passed. ☹
Even sadder once the taco bell food hits your belly
I can relate.
Gosh she's stunningly gorgeous, and what a voice, Iconic!♥
No tattoos; no piercings on anything other than ears, no green hair and lots of SMILES!
This is her best vocal performance based on the high notes she hits at the end. She's still under-rated.
You should hear "Jolene" live from her 1982 concert if you want to hear more of her actual vocal range.
*i love olivia newton john since i was 5, i knew her from grease. not gonna lie, i think she was the most beautiful woman of the 1970s.*
