I honestly still prefer my Mini 2. Feels the perfect balance from Mini 1 being not enough drone and the Mini 3 Pro almost being too much drone for what it is. I sold mine wasn’t into it.

I just got back from Iceland , carried this drone with me. Flew it in the wind, over huge waterfalls, many times. It performed flawlessly. I am impressed, so far. It flies well and the camera is awesome.
planning to go july 2023 but im constantly reading about more restrictions using drones there like in national parks. I love the fact it can capture so many different perspectives so quickly. Instead of taking a camera and having to walk up and around to get different shots of landscapes, waterfalls, etx.
@@beachdweller3378 you'll be able to use in many amazing places where there are no restrictions. The place I had in mind when buying the drone was Stokkness and there no restrictions there. Also many many other amazing places. Just do some research and you'll be ok.
I flew in Iceland in 2019 with the original Mavic Pro - and it held up amazingly over the falls! I'm overdue for an upgrade and this may be the drone. Also overdue for a trip back to Iceland...and Athens (didn't make it due to COVID, so time to make up) 😃
HAHAHAHAHAHHA The drone noise test part was sooo good 💀. Gotta love Dji for always releasing solid upgrades. They dont just put one new feature and call it a day..literally fixing as much quality of life / features as they possibly can for the next one.

I CANNOT BELIEVE you flew that giant-ass Inspire Drone indoors like that, but I love that you did. I have seen many Mini 3 reviews, but this is to the point, without trying to talk everyone up from the Mini 2 to the Mini 3. Hey brother, I am in a wheelchair and I just flying drones back in 2019. I just had a mjx bugs 4 pro $200 drone. You do an AWESOME review and you have to because this is your job... The mini 3 might be my next drone as I like the distance it can go as well as purchasing that rc controller vs using my phone. I hate losing my satellites and my wifi feed. I'm not going more than 200 to 300 meters.... It's a great hobby and keep up the great work! Nick
I particularly like the final comment about the 3 having its own market. I'm definitely in that market. I love the 2 but owning a Phantom 4 Pro, I missed so much apart from the shear bulk and noise. I think it was a clever strategy giving the "Pro" designator to reinforce this being a seismic leap rather than a gentle step up. I simply cannot believe they've changed just about everything other than the weight. It also means us 2 owners aren't left with some obsolete dream. They've opened up a decent used market so hoping to recover 2/3 of what I paid in order to upgrade. Great vid!

I thought this was gonna be serious all throughout at first but then the subtle jokes and looks you throw at the Mini Pro 3 really had me in stitches. I thoroughly enjoy your explanations and demonstrations when explaining lighting, shadows, sensors, HDR etc. A lot of reviews and youtubers cover that but they don't go in detail or are very surface giving you a sorta general understanding but you give a us a break down helping us (me) to understand. I have had my DJ mini for about two months and I only launched it yesterday because of a few life issues that got in my way but it's a fantastic drone and the image quality is really good for such a small drone if you are just wanting to get into it and it's not going to be a huge thing I would go for this drone no problems at all and it's definitely drone safe in terms of all the features that the remote control has and the screen is really easy to see
11:14 as a former spark user, we want higher range not to go that far, but to assure that we never lose connection at low range. Lost my 5 year old spark to a disconnection/fly away and here I am buying a new one
The absolute fear growing on your face as you took off with the Mavic 3 and then the Inspire was absolutely worth the entire video!! I like the Mini 3 Pro, but I just think its a tad too expensive. I bought the Air 2s this year and I think they're too close in price for my usage. Thanks for the video!
I agree. I was planning on getting the A2s but ended up getting the mini 3. I think I’m regretting it especially ow that I just found out it doesn’t have a built in fan. Will it be Prone to overheating.

Alex, great review. Ive always respected your opinion. I have the Mini 2 and wanted to upgrade to the Air 2 S because of the better camera. I watched another video where they compared the camera in studio between the Mini3 and the Air 2 S and in some cases the Mini3 performed better. With added features like a 60 degree swing upward is the Air 2 S the right choice now?
If you can get the Air2S on sale and don't care about being under 250g, then air2s is a better deal IMO. Recently there was a sale of air2s at $800. You get a tad batter image quality and a bigger and more stable drone.
Thank you for the detailed intro Alex. Your newsletter and this video prompted me to make the purchase. I am a moto traveler and been using the Air 2 for couple of years now. I was going to shell out $1000 for a smart controller because I've already ruined two phones out on the field, dropping and messing up the charging port but for $1400 including a smaller drone, active track, vertical recording, accessories AAAND a smart controller....Air 2 just went on sale on Ebay. Love your videos and thank you for being a cool youtuber and not one of those "HEEEEYYY GUYS!!!!!"
@@nomadhomad3685 Even the thinnest iphone case won't fit into the controller snug enough to stay put and it's slipped out several times. A lot of times I'm on the side of a mountain road, no shoulder or very little room to park my motorcycle, I just whip out the controller, shove my phone in and get the footage I need before I get hit by traffic and mistakes happen while I'm trying to be quick. Used to have a dedicated iphone 7 for that purpose alone but it started having battery issues and a few time it heated up so I just decided to use my personal phone and already dropped it twice.
Great review. I was skeptical on it with the increase in price and figured I’d just upgrade to the air 2s but I’m seeing now that the mini 3 might be the better choice. Even just the option for those bigger batteries is honestly a game changer. I was at a shoot last week for a condo neighborhood that needed multiple photos of all 36 buildings and video of the community. I went through 3 and a half batteries to just finish the photos and had to drive back another day for video.
Some advice. Drive there a day early. Pre plan everything. Down to the flight path n plans. U will save alot of time and battery. I shot 3 houses. In 3 separate towns one over 45 min away I took one drone 3 batteries. N came home with 1 full still and one with about 1/4 left of flyable charge. I never fly past 38 % batt. So in the end I didn't use much at all. I didn't even pre plan this time . I took roughly 100 pics per house and a 1min video for 2 of the places.
@@maddmavic it was a next day shoot and honestly If I’m going to drive 45 minutes there just to plan it makes no sense not to shoot. It still results in having to go to the property twice. I was quick and hitting each building in a grid like pattern. 36 buildings is just a lot lol
@@Mbehr24 the air 2s is badass man. If you already got it I’d probably stick with it if you plan to be more video focused. That 10 bit color, log profile and 5.4k allowing you to crop in post are definitely nice.
I just bought one. I think that true 4k vertical video is going to be very valuable for selling footage. I think more companies will want that with how popular TikTok, Reels, and shorts are at this point.
I bought a P3 pro less than a month after they were released. I love it, and I hate seeing it go unused. But I couldn't resist the Mini 3 Pro. Amazing device. Thanks for your honest insight. I'll stop feeling guilty about my old drone one day, it's like dumping an old friend.

I both love and hate this. It hasn’t even been a year since I bought the dji mini 2 fly more combo. $800 in 🇨🇦. I bought it thinking the Mini line wouldn’t change the sensor, as it would make it too ‘premium’ and DJI would want to keep that to their more expensive offerings…. I've had a debate with my friend. I told him Dji will eventually add sensors and he wouldn't believe....look what we have now. 😂 Unfortunately he passed away last year in April... Can't say "I told you so" 🥲
@@yuchinxia8030 Costco is selling DJI Mini 2 w/ fly more combos for $519cad. Realistically you could only sell your mini 2 around $300 and if lucky $400. No where near enough to cover the cost of mini 3 pro. At this point I would just wait until mini 3 becomes less expensive.
I want to thank you for this video. Because of this video, I bought this drone and I am so happy with it. The Mavic 3 Classic launched today but I have zero buyers remorse. I've already captured videos and photos and I'm blown away by the capabilities of it. My previous drone is the Mavic Pro. Well mate, a quick thanks. I have just decided to take advantage of the DJI end of financial year sale and get into drone photography. I do a bit of still photography and used to work in TV back in the 80's. Now with your recomendations (and others) I have bought a dji mini 3 Pro and RC controller with fly more pack and a set of ND polarizing filters. can't wait till it arrives and I can get practising before our Outback Australia holiday later this year. All I need now is information on the Editing packages around nowadays, it would be 15 years since I did Video editing.

Just brought one today. Solid little drone. Stunning camera. Had Parrot Bebop and anafi. Honestly think that Mini 3 got inspiration from the anafi, with regards front of drone. Stunning bird.
After having gotten a Mini 2 second hand in like new condition, you convinced me to purchase the Mini 3 Pro with the standard RC-1N controller given the bump in footage quality with the Cinelike option which isn't available with the Mini 2. Although I get what you're saying about not using your smartphone due to text messaging, calls, etc.. My solution was to get a second hand iPhone and don't put a SIM card in it. I have an iPhone 7 with 256GB storage that is my backup phone and is dedicated to my drone. My primary daily driver iPhone 8 with the same storage capacity - less money and if the iPhone 7 dies, you go and get another phone instead of having to send the whole controller back for repair. It's all about redundancy and trust me, I've had my fair share of things happen where I was thankful I had a spare camera body, etc while on a paying photo shoot. Not sure if an iPod touch would fulfill the same requirements but there's a logical reason to not be tied to a proprietary controller that can't be used if the built in screen gets damaged/becomes non functioning.

Hands down funniest and most useful drone review ever
Thank you for the detailed intro Alex. Your newsletter and this video prompted me to make the purchase. I am a moto traveler and been using the Air 2 for couple of years now. I was going to shell out $1000 for a smart controller because I've already ruined two phones out on the field, dropping and messing up the charging port but for $1400 including a smaller drone, active track, vertical recording, accessories AAAND a smart controller....Air 2 just went on sale on Ebay. Love your videos and thank you for being a cool youtuber and not one of those "HEEEEYYY GUYS!!!!!"

@@nomadhomad3685 Even the thinnest iphone case won't fit into the controller snug enough to stay put and it's slipped out several times. A lot of times I'm on the side of a mountain road, no shoulder or very little room to park my motorcycle, I just whip out the controller, shove my phone in and get the footage I need before I get hit by traffic and mistakes happen while I'm trying to be quick. Used to have a dedicated iphone 7 for that purpose alone but it started having battery issues and a few time it heated up so I just decided to use my personal phone and already dropped it twice.

Great review. I was skeptical on it with the increase in price and figured I’d just upgrade to the air 2s but I’m seeing now that the mini 3 might be the better choice.
Even just the option for those bigger batteries is honestly a game changer. I was at a shoot last week for a condo neighborhood that needed multiple photos of all 36 buildings and video of the community. I went through 3 and a half batteries to just finish the photos and had to drive back another day for video.

Some advice. Drive there a day early. Pre plan everything. Down to the flight path n plans. U will save alot of time and battery. I shot 3 houses. In 3 separate towns one over 45 min away I took one drone 3 batteries. N came home with 1 full still and one with about 1/4 left of flyable charge. I never fly past 38 % batt. So in the end I didn't use much at all. I didn't even pre plan this time . I took roughly 100 pics per house and a 1min video for 2 of the places.
@@maddmavic it was a next day shoot and honestly If I’m going to drive 45 minutes there just to plan it makes no sense not to shoot. It still results in having to go to the property twice. I was quick and hitting each building in a grid like pattern. 36 buildings is just a lot lol
@@Mbehr24 the air 2s is badass man. If you already got it I’d probably stick with it if you plan to be more video focused. That 10 bit color, log profile and 5.4k allowing you to crop in post are definitely nice.

I just bought one. I think that true 4k vertical video is going to be very valuable for selling footage. I think more companies will want that with how popular TikTok, Reels, and shorts are at this point.

I bought a P3 pro less than a month after they were released. I love it, and I hate seeing it go unused. But I couldn't resist the Mini 3 Pro. Amazing device. Thanks for your honest insight. I'll stop feeling guilty about my old drone one day, it's like dumping an old friend.

I both love and hate this. It hasn’t even been a year since I bought the dji mini 2 fly more combo. $800 in 🇨🇦. I bought it thinking the Mini line wouldn’t change the sensor, as it would make it too ‘premium’ and DJI would want to keep that to their more expensive offerings…. Great…

I've had a debate with my friend. I told him Dji will eventually add sensors and he wouldn't believe....look what we have now. 😂 Unfortunately he passed away last year in April... Can't say "I told you so" 🥲
you can always sell your mini 2 to the 2nd hand market.
@@yuchinxia8030 Costco is selling DJI Mini 2 w/ fly more combos for $519cad. Realistically you could only sell your mini 2 around $300 and if lucky $400. No where near enough to cover the cost of mini 3 pro. At this point I would just wait until mini 3 becomes less expensive.

I have just decided to take advantage of the DJI end of financial year sale and get into drone photography.
I do a bit of still photography and used to work in TV back in the 80's.
Now with your recomendations (and others) I have bought a dji mini 3 Pro and RC controller with fly more pack and a set of ND polarizing filters.
can't wait till it arrives and I can get practising before our Outback Australia holiday later this year.
All I need now is information on the Editing packages around nowadays, it would be 15 years since I did Video editing.

Just brought one today. Solid little drone. Stunning camera. Had Parrot Bebop and anafi. Honestly think that Mini 3 got inspiration from the anafi, with regards front of drone. Stunning bird.

have you encountered any issues with range on the new controller?
After having gotten a Mini 2 second hand in like new condition, you convinced me to purchase the Mini 3 Pro with the standard RC-1N controller given the bump in footage quality with the Cinelike option which isn't available with the Mini 2. Although I get what you're saying about not using your smartphone due to text messaging, calls, etc.. My solution was to get a second hand iPhone and don't put a SIM card in it. I have an iPhone 7 with 256GB storage that is my backup phone and is dedicated to my drone. My primary daily driver iPhone 8 with the same storage capacity - less money and if the iPhone 7 dies, you go and get another phone instead of having to send the whole controller back for repair. It's all about redundancy and trust me, I've had my fair share of things happen where I was thankful I had a spare camera body, etc while on a paying photo shoot. Not sure if an iPod touch would fulfill the same requirements but there's a logical reason to not be tied to a proprietary controller that can't be used if the built in screen gets damaged/becomes non functioning.
