Thanks so much! You’re definitely my favourite DBFz RUclipsr. I play this game with my son. He destroys me with those beginner character auto combos when he catches me haha.
I think it's worth mentioning that if you're new to the game, pretty every character is easy to pick up and play. Take it from me, a guy who didn't really play fighting games, playing Android 21 from launch day because she is bae. If you want to be super effective and play at a mid or high level, some characters will definitely have higher skill ceilings than others, but just about everyone can be picked up at an entry level if you're just here to have some rounds with the boys.
I actually think UI taught me more about the cast then anyone. I mean he taught me to consider my wake up options, How reversals work, how to stagger and block string, and hell even got me around the idea of delaying my command grab around my assists. I don’t even main him anymore. I main the other two white haired top tiers and if I hadn’t learned UI I don’t think I would play this game let alone be able to play Zam Gotenks or Baby.
Basegeta Majin 21 and trunks having both a low skill floor while also having a huge skill ceiling pretty cool. Basegeta, sbroly and cooker my team with trunks subbing in for broly every once an a while
My first and still used team is SS Vegeta, Goku Black and Cell lol. Great team to learn combos and easy mix-ups, and especially playing Cell makes you think about playing trickier with his teleports and weird specials
Of the 3 mids I had interest in learning as a new player, I WOULD be unlucky enough to have every single one of them in the advanced tier. And while i accepted i have no hope in learning Ginyu, Cell at least feels easy _enough_ to play at an acceptible level. And despite my struggles, i will remain resolute and find a way to survive the nappa nuetral. Tho learning an easier mid character might be a good short term solution...
While he is super easy to play and succeed with, I’d put Z Broly in intermediate because of the armor. One of the most important things for beginners to learn is when it’s safe to press. Z Broly gives new players a crutch that could come to hurt them later in their DBFZ career
Good list, only thing I really disagree with is AGohan in advanced. He can do the saiyan bnb at level 0, level 1 is the most common level-up and it gives him very small stuff like 3L (comparable to Vegito 5L) and j.2H j.214L combo enders (comparable to SS Goku j.S 236L). Air legs and Masenko gets more hits but you don't even have to care for the most part. He was the first character I picked up on my team day 1 of playing this game and while he has a lot of depth he's also very beginner friendly. Play him as a mid and you probably will never have to worry about level 3/5/7 and when you do learn those combos you can play him as an anchor. Lots more to say but I think he is easy to pick up, you don't need to know all of his tools right away to do well with him.
It might be just because I play Hit 24/7 but I'd personally put him in advanced. The big thing I've both experienced and have seen within my friend group is that Hit's tools carry a lot of risks, and those risks aren't immediately obvious. Although I think Hit is very strong, he's not the character people think he is. People seem to have the idea that Hit can do whatever he wants, when in reality he has some of the most janky design decisions. Like his visuals not really matching up with his hitboxes. Or his tracking projectiles just not tracking. If you just don't give your opponent space with Hit, he opens himself up to being mashed on a lot and that takes a long time to get used to when this game is so rushdown heavy. To be fair, I don't play at high level and I don't have the 4k+ hours of experience most streamers have. I just have played everyday since day1of this game's release. I've had people tell me that 1,300+hrs is really insane to have in a game and that I can't have an opinion till I have 3k hours. So, idk where I land anymore.
Something I want to say if you think a character is cool, then you should play them anyways so they can get used to the feel of each character because everyone will need time to break into a new character so they won't hesitate to actually try out what they practiced, as is what happened with me playing Teen Gohan and Base Vegeta. And speaking of Base Vegeta, I have to argue he's in intermediate, if not advanced. 99% of players will usually just spam his specials and even if they do land, won't know how to capitalize on them, along with his ki blast game taking a lot of patience and awareness to not get Superdashed through them immediately. Compare that to Blue Goku who is pretty straightforward on a beginner level, AKA spam 236h and then 2m into combo while Base Vegeta doesn't even have that.
There is no way that character could be in advanced tier, but still, I think it could reasonably get to intermediate tier. Pretty easy character to use, but with a lot to uncover in the long end, and also sometimes I just think he is a harder version of SSB goku
@@astilla4729he deff deserves intermediate to advanced for getting any good usage out of him, but him being beginner friendly isn't far off, it's what you get when you have a low skill floor and a huge skill ceiling
I honestly think basegeta is almost a beginner, it helps you understand Mix-ups, converting off Ki-blasts, neutral and has generally easy loops(they're literally just rhythm)
So that's why I can't get the hang of Cell... I'd love to play him but I can never make him work lol. Ironically, Baby came very easy to me! I love his normals and specials and I find his zoning relatively easy to do. My combos aren't super saucy but he rarely fails as my anchor. Guess certain characters just speak to us!
So as a Majin Buu main, I feel like he's more suited as intermediate. Even though his 2m makes combos less orthodox, 5h or 2h is still very effective despite leading to less damage Doing resets are also not really that hard. Heavy buttslam just having a free fat toss at the end makes it so you can do nasty mixups with only half a bar His level 1 super hits the entire screen making it super easy to dhc into and with the new angle it sends at, it's even easier to dhc out of. The hardest part to get around imo is his assists. A assist is hard to convert with during a combo because of its angle, although decent during neutral because of its size. B assist doesn't force the opponent to the ground like normal fat throw does which makes it way less useful as a reset tool But overall I think you can ignore a lot of the complex stuff of buu and be very effective at a beginner level
I definitely dropped the game because I wanted to start with stuff like Gohan or Ginyu, this helps a lot and now I can have an actual start in the game
As a cell main since day 1 it warmed my heart to hear you put him in advanced. I always thought he was pretty straight forward but maybe I just clicked with the character right away.
17:00 While I agree this prolly makes UI intermediate, in terms of picking up a character as a new player, I don't think difficulty in neutral matters that much. You are (in all likelihood) going to be facing people your skill level who might just die to a DP any time you use one, and definitely have some significant flaws. Rather, I think UI goku is good because of his simple combo structure and the intuitive flow of his kit. Compare this to beerus: Half of what beerus can do probably won't be obvious to a new player and they won't even get to things like canceling 5H into orb into 5H to spam orbs or any of the things you need to use to abuse his power. You can use UI goku in a very dumb way, but he does have a hold down DP that makes it ridiculously easy for someone who might be struggling with inputs to escape pressure. At the very least, that has been my experience as an FG player coming to this game and immediately picking up UI goku and beerus. Actually 17 was by far the hardest character to try that I played, just because of his buttons.
Very solid list. I only hard disagree with gogeta blue. Id throw him in beginner along with the other fusions (id even consider him the easiest to use of them all). His single button beams full scream command grab and ridiculous 2m Give him godlike status at the begginer level a step above even vegito. And even tho gogetas combos are unique they are extremely simple imputs and visually really easy to understand with lots of time to confirm and get extremely high damge without even trying. Top that with him having a really easy time landing medium starters and a player who just picked up the game can hop on ranked and start 2 touching people at that skill level and landing easy tods.
My final thoughts on this mostly goes with UI and Labcoat lmao Havjng Labcoat in beginner is funny because you 10 brand new players 5 with labcoat & 5 with UI Ill bet all my money that UI is taking the win for majority by said beginners
My team is gonna be base vegeta, gogeta ssj4 (i know he’s rlly good at point based off your videos, but i also feel like he can be used at mid to clean up or something and his B assist i think it is the one that goes through projectiles would be good with base vegeta), and tien (thats my boi).
