I'm just getting into the whole airbrushing for fun. I really enjoyed how you took the video step by step describing everything. What brought me to this video, I just bought a Michael Myers mask from Trick or Treat and will attempt to rehaul my own. In all, this is inspiring to me knowing I can do it myself. Thank you!!
"...and again, If you don't like the mask, if you don't like the video... uhhh that's on you" This was the best closer I've ever heard. Also, I really liked your unique take on the mask, the quality of the paint job should be enough to sway most movie-accurate aficionados. As long as the eyes don't suck and the hair is decent you're good to go. TBH most of the "movie-accurate" replicas are not as accurate as they'd have you believe. They overly detail all of the trademark parts with airbrush shading - most notably the cheeks & the upper lip. This makes it look more poster perfect, but it's painting fake shadows. All you have to do is hard light from above, or just off to the side and high. You can also get similar effect with a dim uplight. Regardless, the mask was all white and everything you see that details character was created with lighting and made a little more prominent by the dirt. Any head on light or bright overly soft light is going to hide all face details and instantly you'll be like, wtf? this isn't right? but it is. This was awesome, thanks buddy!
Lol, "seeing the look on his face". Meanwhile, he had his face covered more than a 1800's train robber. Great 2 part video. It's such a small change from what you started with, but made a huge difference. Normal people would notice nothing. Halloween geeks see the massive difference. Kudos.
I repainted a 2018 mask a couple years back, loved it. Went to repaint this version last year and had the same paint issue, I never did finish it.. This gives me some hope, time to get a felt tip for the dremel!
Amazing! I’m so jealous of that customer! I would be immensely proud to own that mask. You are extremely talented and I hope you go from strength to strength! 🖤
Justin Mabry is the man when it comes to sculpting. You just kicked this copies hind end , I think you done great by it. I would buy one Rehauled from you guys , Kristy is awesome I’d love to visit your store but unfortunately I live in Kentucky. I would seriously pay you for making me one if your interested, maybe film it like this one and I’ll get notification , I’m a serious collector with over 30 Masks and would set yours right on top . Thanks for sharing this process with us
Great job. I totally dig the work you did to it, which I think looks better than the movie accurate versions out there. I loved the two videos. It reminded me of listening to a Stoner. ..when they're totally baked and just kind of ramble on and on trying to make sense of what they say, AND have relevance to what they've said. While answering the other conversations in their head. Totally awesome.
Looks great. i swear, i always thought the original Myers mask was based on Kiefer Sutherland's face as a kid lol. It's like literally the same face! Didn't find out till years later it was a Shatner Star Trek mask lmfao.
Awesome job man I've been a Halloween fan since I was a little boy. Just got a tots 78 myers mask and would love to have it done up by you. How would I go about that?
Very nice job!! A two part question for you. When sealing the mask. What latex did you use. I have the polyurethane and 407 white mask making latex. And se one for the hairline. Did you just use more of the same latex to tack it down.
I used half acrylic paint and half latex and my masks tends to crack a bit but overall mine looks incredible and I like it. I jus wanna know another tip of different kind of paint I could use
Yes at nightmaretoys.com They sell out very fast so search for shelley moth on our site and join the waitlist to be notified when we put more up for grabs. I'm working on finishing a few now. You can also contact shelley on IG @moths_masks
I am an average person and the only difference I can tell is the hair is fixed and a small amount of detail. The only main thing I can see that sets them apart is the hair and the mask width, did it change from its position?
You concentrate too much on what haters think - your artwork is much appreciated by so many more that love it for all the care and heart your pour into it all!
Honestly I'd suggest springing for the airbrush if you're serious about getting into this stuff. Otherwise I would use spraypaint but it will crack over time. The cost of the airbrush is not insane. I use the Paasche H Single action which is about 60 bucks with all the accessories. The compressor is about 120 or so. Worth saving up for if it's important to you.

As long as it's mask making latex (sometimes called slip or casting latex) you are good. I use whatever I have around which is usually Mabry Monsters latex from Motion Picture FX or Monster Makers RD 407
I never knew seeing the Myers mask with a shower cap on was something I needed in my life😂
Bro that was a masterpiece, you should try the 2018 mask!🤟🏻
Yes he should do a 2018 😷mask man pis

How did it go?
That wall of masks is what I picture heaven to be. My happy place...

Excellent job shelly. I did my mask up kinda similar..Nothing should be accurate..I call it unique on your own taste. Appreciate the video man.
I repainted a 2018 mask a couple years back, loved it. Went to repaint this version last year and had the same paint issue, I never did finish it.. This gives me some hope, time to get a felt tip for the dremel!
Nice! Can you do my hair next? 😁
Just finished mine today. It is a little scary doing the hair but it’s actually way easier than I thought.
LOL
Amazing! I’m so jealous of that customer! I would be immensely proud to own that mask. You are extremely talented and I hope you go from strength to strength! 🖤

I’m a year late and after seeing this…. How did I go so long not seeing this masterpiece???
Looks great. i swear, i always thought the original Myers mask was based on Kiefer Sutherland's face as a kid lol. It's like literally the same face! Didn't find out till years later it was a Shatner Star Trek mask lmfao.

Awesome job man I've been a Halloween fan since I was a little boy. Just got a tots 78 myers mask and would love to have it done up by you. How would I go about that?
Thanks! Message me on IG @moths_masks

Dude this is awesome. Ty so much man. 😎👏😎👏🍁🍂🍁🎃🍂🍁🍂🎃
The thing I hated about the TTS 78 mask was the 5 head they gave him.... And you kept it. The paint job is dope though.
Thata clean!!!
Dude, great job ! 🎃
Freaking awesome I want one!!!!!!!
“i’m not going for screen accuracy, i’m going for what i see michael myers has.”
*makes a screen accurate mask*
I wish I had the patience and the wherewithal to attempt this with my own TOTS Michael Meyers 1978 mask.
I know I’d screw it up.
Only way to learn is to screw a bunch of stuff up and learn from your mistakes!
What a great job!
Awesome video!!
Very nice job!! A two part question for you. When sealing the mask. What latex did you use. I have the polyurethane and 407 white mask making latex. And se one for the hairline. Did you just use more of the same latex to tack it down.
You should make a Christmas version of Michaels mask.
"Seeing the look on his face just made everything worth it". The dude had a on a face diaper for God's sake. Great video though.🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Please make more Michael myeres masks. There my favorite.
I have a mask that needs to fixed bad could you make a video on how to remold or fix it thank you
Wow looks amazing
Great video 👍
Wait, do you actually sell them too? I want a 2007 "buried" mask that I can't seem to find. Great job!
Contact @moths_masks
I used half acrylic paint and half latex and my masks tends to crack a bit but overall mine looks incredible and I like it. I jus wanna know another tip of different kind of paint I could use
Youre very talented
What rotary tool do you use? and also which polyurethane do you use in your mix? Thanks so much
I thought he was Dylan. He called me that a won a scream bag.
Next you guys should do the halloween kills 1978 flashback mask!
Do you guys do re hauls for customers? Would love to know :)
Did you even watch the video? Like at the end when he GIVES the mask back to the customer?
Yes at nightmaretoys.com They sell out very fast so search for shelley moth on our site and join the waitlist to be notified when we put more up for grabs. I'm working on finishing a few now. You can also contact shelley on IG @moths_masks
BRAVO
Great job!

There's not a whole lot that you need to do. The main thing is fixing the eyes and adding some skin tone. The wideness may be due to the stuffing.
Screw the haters! You be you!
wow 😍😍😍😍.nice job
please make halloween(2018) mask
This was awesome
Please do the 2018 mask next!
Hellz yesss!!
Does using tacky glue do the same thing as latex for the hairline? If not then does it HAVE to be pure latex or can it be liquid
I have seen other people doing these using tacky glue for the hairline.
Pretty much any glue will work. Latex is what I have lots of laying around.
You concentrate too much on what haters think - your artwork is much appreciated by so many more that love it for all the care and heart your pour into it all!
Thank you! It actually really doesn't bother me lol you'll never be criticized by someone doing more than you :)
Good
you should make masks for slashers that would be cool
Where to get some hair to add to our masks?
What would you suggest for brushing the hair?
What air brush do you use or what is a good air brush to use ?
micheal loves taking showers
Where is this place I need one off those masks
Hair still needs more work, but for a basic rehaul this is pretty damn good, already way better than stock
Thanks for watching.
do you do commisions
Amazing sir! If one doesn’t have access to an airbrush or latex paints how would you paint it with brushes and cheaper paint sir?
They originally used appliance whit paint. The a slight coat of Matt white for the mask
Worth saving up for if it's important to you.
love it !! is there anyway to keep the mask from decaying over years ?
Be sure to wash the inside with soap and water after every wear. Keep out of sunlight as much as possible. Don't display on a styrofoam head.
Is weathering the same as a dark wash like in painting miniature lead figures?
Pretty much!
so my question, why not glue the hair the opposite direction so when you brush it back it hides the glue line ?
I've tried that method out in the past and it didn't really work out as planned. Would be worth giving it another go some time though.
How can I get my mask done by you man looks so awesome
Thanks! Contact me on IG @moths_masks. We also sell some on our site nightmaretoys.com but they sell out very fast so search for shelley moth on our site and join the waitlist to be notified when we put more up for grabs. I'm working on finishing a few now.
When sealing, what kind of mask latex do you use with the urethane?
As long as it's mask making latex (sometimes called slip or casting latex) you are good. I use whatever I have around which is usually Mabry Monsters latex from Motion Picture FX or Monster Makers RD 407
Not bad
