It would be good to note precautions such as cycle the ignition a few times to prime the HP pump so it does not start dry, keep the fan/clutch vertical, do not lay it flat when removed from the engine.
this is an awesome video....im going to attempt....do you have a video on how to take off the fan and shroud? I also have an oil leak at the oil filter housing im going to do that at the same time...if you have a video on that also let me know.
A few days ago I was contacted about a 2012 Sprinter with a crank no start and according to the owner the van just died inside a filling station and never started again. I had no experience with diesel at all but fortunately my scan tool is capable of doing this particular Sprinter and I read several faults from different modules but the ones that keep coming back in the engine ECU are 11AF00, 13AF00, 11D000, 11D900, and 16A600. I have no idea whether these faults may cause a no start problem. Hope you could guide me.
Thanks for the prompt reply. Actually I was called in to read fault code as someone was working on the van and he has no scan tool. The owner asked me if I can take over the job but I told him I will have do some research on the truck. I think the mechanic has no such tools and I only have fuel pressure gauge for gasoline engines, do you think that will work on diesel engines? I just learned from your videos this truck has a high pressure fuel pump so I think my scan tool can give me info on the high pressure fuel pump PID just trying to get enough info before getting back to the truck. Thanks once more
The job is much appreciated. It would be much best if you showed us those tests performed that led you to a conclution of fuel pump replacement. And also when instaling the new pump I didn't see you putting its gasket or sylicon
Very helpful video and explanation, thanks! Does anyone have a link to good sources for replacement HP fuel pumps, and do the fuel lines need specific clamps? Is there a specific tool needed for these clamps?
I gotta 2016 Mercedes Sprinter it has fuel leak i cant see where is leaking from when i changed fuel filter i noticed that lot of fuel on the bottom of the fuel filter housing you think this might be fuel pump or the fuel lines ?
Sr how you are doing? I have a question for you have you ever replaced this, Valve Cover Membrane Diaphragm Mercedes OM651 2.2 CDI 6510109118, 6510100630. crankcase ventilation system.
Sr can you please tell me where I can get that part I went to Mercedes and they don’t have it, I would really appreciate it if you can help me in this one. Have a very nice day.
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair is there a way to physically test high pressure how many bars was that and you measured high pressure side with scan tool right?
Obviously the gear is indexed to the pump via the keyway to eliminate spinning on the shaft. But it doesn't look like the pump is in any way timed to the cam shaft. There are no markings on the gear to indicate timing. Looks like the pump just spins to produce a constant pressure but has no bearing on injection timing like some other high pressure diesel fuel pumps. Painting the marks on the gear and unit seems to be a waste of time and effort.
The High pressure pump produces pulses of pressure, so it is timed to the engine, this is standard for common rail engines ...the key way indicates pump position and engine needs to be at TDC during install.
Some of the best detailed how to vidios I’ve ever seen. Keep them coming.
@MarcPrice-e9y Thank you!

@sunlite8934 Good!
Fan should be electric ? Only oil clutch needs to be vertical 🙂
But if i buy new clutch how does it survive shipping?
silicone grease is best for Orings; all petroleum grease will weaken the Oring
@hypocrisyrules Good!
Hi. Thank you for the video, i have been looking forward to this. Shame you did not make a video of your diagnostic procedure.
@Nick-bp7jf My Pleasure! I lost half of the diagnosis footage! that's why I didn't include it in this video!
Do you have another same-style video to point us to pls for the diagnosis? @@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair

@kevinhowe8080 Thanks! yes you can get fuel line clamps online, usually get these pumps from the Dealer

@dnrtrucking4437 it sounds like one of your fuel lines is leaking!
Do these sprinter vans have a lot of issues, or maybe just they tend to have high mileage like this one? I see your working on them a lot.
@heavyeagle2371 Yes! we work on a lot of Sprinters!
Does the engine need to be at TDC before removal?
@MikeshPatel-g3s No!

Which line it was ? That is connected after fuel supply line to pump while installation of new one ?
@JatinderSingh-jj5xi Sorry, I didn't understand your question!
Hi can we see the confirmed fix what was pressure before and after pump replacment
@northernpatriot9078 I Lost some of the footage while making this video! This is a R-R Video! I hope I can redo a Diagnostic video on this issue soon!
You forgot the most important thing …lol….how to diagnose it was the pump …including the oscilloscope diagnosis….lol
@cesarcantoral6100 Lol! I lost the diagnosis footage! I'm sorry
What are the possible symptoms or signs before replacing the high pressure pump?
@@AugustineAkhabueIyoha One of the symptoms is low rail pressure, this HPFP wasn't building enough fuel pressure, the concern was crank no start!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair is there a way to physically test high pressure how many bars was that and you measured high pressure side with scan tool right?
I have a 4 cylinder sprinter manual transmission. i think turbo is not working it's got electronic actuator

Thank you very much 🤝

@garygoodridge218 No this Pump is not timed, I put the marks on the pump just to be safe, so no timing needed!

Why when changing the gear you have to mark the gear even tho it has a key way…
