    I did not feel like trying to mount an 85” myself so I called s local installer. First thing out of his mouth was trying to “help” me buy the TV so he could make money on that. Next he said we would need an electrician to get power up by the TV. No telling Joe much he would have foster but I’m sure it would be a lot. Thanks “B” for showing us how to save money. Btw your “assistant” looks like a nice person. Wholesome.

    Always so funny when you have concrete or brick walls like they do in Europe everywhere. So there is no way cutting a wall like that. Still appreciate the video, but living in Europe no chance. Would have to open the wall with a hammer drill, create cable channels, route cables thru them, close it up and plaster it again. Then redo the wallpaper and paint for that complete wall. Ends in a nightmare of work, if you want to do it like that. But this is looking so sweet. Cudos. Keep it up! Always a lot of fun watching your videos! Appreciate the creativity and skills. Thx B!

    So how’d you run the power for the Sony HT-A9 speakers? It looks like you ran the power cords in the the wall and out the cutouts below. Isn’t that considered high voltage? Does code allow for that?

    B, I don’t know if you’re monitoring comments for such an old video, but I just tried to put in a setup like this for my sister. She had a handyman mount her tv to the wall and he just cut a crude hole behind the tv and routed an extension cord through the wall to plug the tv to. When I went to install the boxes I realized that this wall is the exterior wall and the kit that I bought was too deep since the space between the drywall and the concrete block of the exterior wall was less than two inches. Have you had such a situation? How did you handle it.

    This may be possible in your country in America, where 95% of your houses are made of plaster😉, but here in Europe, 99% is brick and concrete everywhere, and it's not just possible to do it that way.🤪

    • @barryomahony4983
      @barryomahony4983 2 года назад

      It's gypsum wallboard, and it's only the interior surface. Only older homes have plaster over wood or metal lath, mostly in the eastern part of the country. Exterior can be several different things, including brick or stone. The framing is wood, which does much better in earthquake country, like where he is located, then a stone or masonry wall.

      @BTheInstaller  2 года назад +1

      Negative. The tv is not surge protected. You can add one and I wanted to buy a surge outlet but they didn't have them at the depot and it was a pre-built dual outlet. You can get external ones to plug behind tv

      @@BTheInstaller yea with the TV (especially an A90J) being the most expensive component of the system I would definitely recommend that it be surge protected as well. Would hate for an electrical surge to take out the beautiful set…not that California would have any powerline problems 🙄 🙂

    How do you install on wall powered speakers, like Sonos speakers, while keeping the wiring up to code? My best solution is to place powered speakers near the nearest outlet and run romex up to the the height of where I want my speakers. That’s fine for the rears but in the front. I would like to have an Arc or Beam as a center and two Play One’s on the left and right. I can see how you did your Sony front speakers but I don’t want to leave a hole in the front of the wall. Should I run romex down from the attic on the left and right sides or should I buy one of those Amazon powered speaker outlets so I can install it properly? Thanks!

    I'm using a Furman Elite 20PFI to protect all my gear and one of the issues when wall mounting a Television is having your panel connected to something like that which can't go behind the TV.
    So what I do is instead of running a live outlet behind the panel or tapping into a nearby one, is I install a 15amp Hubbell receptacle behind the panel and wire it not to the electrical panel but to a custom made male outlet located directly below the bottom of the wall. This allows me to use a decent quality extension with a male/female end and that plugs the TV directly into the Furman. The Furman is then plugged into a nearby 20amp outlet that supplies power. This way it's very clean install, it's electrical code passed and I don't even have to get near anything that could be live. Best way of protecting your gear that allows you to use any high grade surge brand and not just a generic one at the panel.
    Did that on all my panels and doesn't cost much more. And if I need to discount power from the panel, I just need to unplug the extension and not even touch the panel.

Just use those to mark the corners, remove the rings, and draw lines to connect them. Also, a few months ago I bought a cordless oscillating tool (buzz saw). Wish I had gotten one years ago, and it's now my go-to tool for cutting rectangular holes in drywall.
