- PC Version somehow got way worse, random matchmaking is completely unplayable due to hackers and customs can be very laggy.
I do not doubt that these Survivors had some strong lag, unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it especially when Resistance has 20 daily players at best on Steam.
Look how they massacred one of the best multiplayer games out there.
DISCLAIMER: While I will appreciate any helpful comments, I gave up on Resistance and moved on a long time ago.
This is merely a nostalgia trip through the best game I have ever played back in 2020, THE game that pushed my Channel to 10k subs out of nowhere, while also sharing to new subscribers the absolute gem that was Resident Evil: Resistance.
I am sorry if this video fooled you into thinking I would reconsider Resistance, the game is just beyond dead at this point and I'm not going to spend 60 euros a year just to play on PS4.

I play on PC, I find matches every day, there's a mod to fix the online, I actually made a few friends thanks to this game the last month

Sad to see this game in this state now if capcom continued to work on it and gave updates it probably would've been competing with DBD breakers and the new texas chainsaw massacre game hopefully the former 2 can succeed where this game gave up on

I love Breakers but this game was very special to me and it's sad to see the PC version is even more unplayable nowadays thanks to hackers.
@@gianturion breakers is my true first love when it comes to an asymmetrical type of games i have played DBD years ago but it didn't really click with me so i didn't really think of it i liked watching RE:R but of course i eventually stopped watching due to low interest and then eventually got the news of it having no more updates i can only pray that when the going ever gets tougher for breakers the devs continue to work on the game instead of giving up or that the higher ups at bandai don't decide to pull the plug if the game isn't making enough money for their liking and write it off as a failed adventure
@@gianturionSame, RESISTANCE was highly addictive, unique, and refreshing for the assym genre. Remember when they released the Jill DLC, the possibilities were endless, but CRAPcom dropped it for RE:Verse WHICH had more DLC and died quick, terrible game. The only thing that filled the void was Evil Dead: The Game which was also highly unique and endless possibilities, but no more content is coming anymore either, which is so disappointing. It's always the good ones that die. Glad Dragon Ball: The Breakers is alive and actually fun, but these two games deserved SO MUCH more.
@@Chris-zc7xj I already know I'm in a huge minority here and I don't mind that, but I still feel like we are dealing with the same old Crapcom, except now they are just reselling the same game with a different title. I apologize for the long rant incoming.
Resident Evil 2 Remake was pretty good and I enjoyed playing it a lot, but the game falls apart when you play the original (I did exactly that years later out of boredom & curiosity) just for the B route alone and how the game actually remembers the choices you've made in the A route which isn't much, but still impressive considering it was a PSX title.
Resident Evil 3 Remake is actual garbage, Resistance absolutely carried what little there was to save because it was *such a fantastic game* and it's sad that we'll never get to see anything like it, I talk a lot of shit about Breakers because of the choices Bandai & Dimps keep making but I do love the game and I don't want it to end just like Resistance... because that's exactly how the game died: multiple terrible updates made by clueless devs who barely knew how to play the game.
Who actually cares that they noticed my meme dog build and made it viable in future updates? Yeah, it was a very nice thing to do and I'm actually honored that they noticed my signature build, but it doesn't change the fact that they are terrible devs who preferred sharing memes on Twitter instead of fixing their game. What's worse, making my build viable actually *destroyed* the game because it can't handle too many buffed creatures in one room, especially Lickers.
Resident Evil Village was a huge disappointment.
I didn't even like Dimitrescu nor see the appeal behind her, but I did find the concept to be fairly interesting because it reminded me a lot of the OG RE4 Castle levels. What we ended up getting was a game that just didn't know what it wanted to be, the Castle was genuinely the only part I was actually enjoying and it was very short, I couldn't possibly care about an insignificant protagonist like Ethan nor did I really find the story to be that interesting in the first place.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is a good game, but a bad remake. There, I said it.
RE4R is by no means a bad game, but it's just not what I liked about the OG RE4 at all. I liked Leon being this badass protagonist with the goofiest lines ("Women"
☕) and I loved the constant chatter with the bosses ("Your right hand comes off?"), it gave the game a lot of charm that the Remake doesn't have for the sake of "realism" and "Leon depressed". Yeah, at least they *tried* by implementing the parry system which was pretty nice actually, but it really doesn't change the fact that it's the same game we've been playing since RE2R with a different environment.
What ends up happening is that every old RE game gets remade with the same engine, the same gameplay, the same mechanics, just with a new "serious" and "realistic" story which doesn't really appeal to me, I liked it better when RE games were all about surpassing its predecessors while retaining that goofy B movie story.
Resident Evil 5 is extremely silly with an absolutely absurd Albert Wesker acting like he's playing Matrix while Chris Redfield randomly punches a boulder just to flex, yet that was what I highly enjoyed about it alongside a fantastic co-op mode and Mercenaries, I cannot imagine a RE5 Remake that tries to be oh-so-realistic by removing what made the original so unique in the first place (aka RE4R).
Just comparing the old logos to the new ones should tell you enough.
I didn't have the chance to play Evil Dead during its prime, blame the Epic Games exclusivity which very much killed the game.
But I did end up buying it on sale, I played vs bots since that was the only active game mode and I did enjoy my time despite having a bit of trouble understanding what I was supposed to do, there is a lot of charm behind the game and it is extremely sad that *I knew* this was the kind of game that wouldn't last few months.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre is about the same, a lot of charm behind it but also a toxic community & clueless devs and very likely a cashgrab.

This game had such a strong start. I originally got RE:3 for Resistance, then saw the timeline of the game & was saddened by it. RE:3 was still nice at least.

3 years huh… I’ll never forget this game and all the battles You and me had, it was soo cool when it was big at the time, even for 2 years I played it a few times, some great matches with new guys but almost anyone whos got lvl300 or more tend to do the shotgun spam, sometimes Annettes zombie ambushe which I was ok with but the LAGs is where You have no fighting chance, It was really fun at the time and can be depending on the people but other then that, yeah…
This game and Evil Dead provided such a unique gameplay experience compared to other asymmetrical games. I wish they had better devs, they both had amazing potential
I have combined this game in my mind with quarantine and staying at home and enjoying long hours of mastermind builds. Trying to tweak everything again and again to beat even the sweatiest of teams. Oh God how fun it was. Resistance you will be missed.
Such a fantastic game, i like this so much more than DBD.
I can’t believe it’s been 3 years. I started playing this game again recently on play station and there’s still a community playing daily. Even new players joining frequently. It’s still a lot of fun!
Too many enhancement cards in the decks and spawns for the size of these maps. 8 regenerating health zombies in one room plus mastermind control with special abilities is what killed the game.
@@distortaso I decided to check the game out again since I was feeling so nostalgic to the game, and there is actually still quite a few people playing on PlayStation. I was surprised. Game is definitely rock paper scissors in some regards. But still pretty fun. I wish they would have continued supporting this game instead of dropping it. I feel like they truly had lightning in a bottle with this game.

I REALLY hope capcom makes another game with this similar style gameplay. It was so much fun playing this game. It would be cool if they made the zombies more tough like in RE2 so they are not so squishy. Take out rocket launchers because all my zombies would just get blown to bits by Jill or a million grenades lol fighting against a good team was so difficult even with the right equipment/deck etc.
I play this game alot and still love it but the only way your getting into a game most of the time is around peak hours

I was watching your older videos on this game and it did look pretty fun, even though I wasn't really into Resident Evil like that. I can tell you did enjoy the game at one point but alas.
I'm not sure if we ever really encountered each other that much (or in any significant matches) during the days when PC was alive. I was a PC player, from just a couple months after it launched in 2020 up to January 2022, where at that point, my friends and I came to the conclusion that PC was done for and wasn't going to get any better. It's kinda sad how we felt that way even back then. All the rampant cheating itself aside, not being able to block anyone in game was getting so frustrating and exhausting, to the point where in the final days on there, we were just playing customs with each other because getting into regular queue meant you were almost guaranteed to run into some cheater (or some other tool you didn't like). My boyfriend and I recently went back to PC to check it out just a couple of months ago, and although we didn't think it could get worse, it was somehow even more lifeless than when we left it-- well, almost two years ago now. The amount of dedicated players on there seems to be so small, you could count them on your fingers... and unsurprisingly, a majority of them only play customs with each other to get worthwhile matches now.
My friend group and I moved to PS4/5 in 2022 when we had enough, and I'm happy to say that even today, in almost-2024, Resistance is still very much alive on there (despite complaints from the PlayStation-only players). I'm probably known in the community over there as someone who never shuts up about PC, but seriously: it was an important time in my Resistance "career" so to speak. And although it's the status quo that everyone accepts *now*, PC getting neglected and overrun by cheaters while the consoles got to prosper relatively untarnished was a major sticking point for us. Everyone should be able to experience the game properly no matter what platform, and the fact that Capcom couldn't even be bothered to ensure that was appalling.
Can't believe they canned this for REVerse. And I can't believe they then didn't even have the decency to make REVerse good.

I wonder why the developers released this game if they didn't follow it and didn't update it almost as soon as it came out.
The game is actually not bad, and I'm sure that if it was updated and kept in good shape, it would be popular now. And it might even have appeared in the top 10 Steam. It's a pity these are just dreams that are not destined to come true, thanks to strange developers.
It did get updates, but they ended up ruining the game even more.
Nicholai & Jill absolutely destroyed what little balance the game had.
Devs were utterly incompetent and it showed during their streams, they wanted Survivors to be OP and they succeeded.
Playing Mastermind felt pointless, you are actively encouraged to play with guns instead of creatures if you want a decent chance against premades.
Even in this video you can clearly notice how easy it is to stun the creatures, making them completely useless.
@@gianturion It would be funny if this game was bought from the current developers, and the new ones would start actively fixing and advertising it in order to attract new players, at the same time the old ones might catch up.

The survivors are definitely not the OP ones in this anymore. Masterminds have way too many deck abilities and have d-dos hosting hacks because there is no dedicated servers. @@gianturion
This game needs to be ripped off and made into a dungeon crawling/fantasy equivalent. Liches, demons and fae for masterminds, gargoyles for cameras, guns get reworked into spells, bam.
Just discovered this game and it saddens me that it appears to be dead. I've been playing dead by daylight for about a year and it's gotten on my last nerve so looking for something different.

Did you ever try Evil Dead? It's the closest thing currently to Resistance. Unfortunately the game is going the exact same route as Resistance though as devs announced no more content...
I've heard about Evil Dead, but the game was locked behind Epic Games Store until a year later (when it already died...).
Unfortunately I just didn't have the chance to try it out, especially during its prime.
I really wanted to play this game back then, but didn't have a good computer to run it so instead I watched a ton of people play it. It's such a shame that this game had to go the way it did, if it had the care it needed I am positive it would of been alive and going to this day. Still a fantastic game!
You might have watched some of my vids then, they ended up becoming the most popular because of YT algorithm being weird.
It's a shame you couldn't play Resistance during its golden age (April 2020, first month), because unfortunately it got progressively worse due to incompetent developers and sad hackers who don't accept people having fun with the game and destroyed the queues permanently.
I stopped loving Capcom ever since, their behavior was completely unacceptable to me. There was a small dedicated community supporting Resistance, Capcom just wanted money and pulled the plug.
Then they ended up "funding" Re:Verse, a huge asset flip literally nobody asked for which ended up getting A ONE YEAR DELAY and was dead on launch. And they still had the guts to ask more money for a battle pass before abandoning Verse.
Despite the obvious flaws and imbalance issues.
This was the perfect game during Lockdown, and where i made a few new real life acquaintances.
Hope for a better improved version from the big C with cannon characters.

I bet it was a ton of fun too on Pc back in the day. Sadly it's the same as me, a player from xbox trying to find a match after 20 minutes lol. I gave up on the game too but I can still remember how awesome it was to play Resistance. So many things you can do, not like Dbd you can also fight back to the killer and even took down by yourself Mr. X or Nemesis. ❤
It was not perfect by all means and surely could had improve some aspects if Capcom could be interested in developing the game further (Even Re3R needed some things too like a DLC), but I still loved the game and would be excited to see a proper sequel to Resistance. It surely deserves much better than people thought of it and never try it.

This was one of the games that made me regret selling my PS4 (I (and my wallet) got tired of buying into the all-console life (I like all genres, so... every game looks good to me, which hurts my funds real bad) - so I picked one console and stuck with it... Switch it was)... Literally sold my PS4 just a couple months before this game released.
Everything about this game (except for the exaggerated use of them cusses) was RIIIIIGHT up my alley.
Spent a ton of time watching others play it. Probably watched a bunch of your vids as well, though I hadn't subscribed to you or commented back then.
Ah... I miss it. Hopefully one day we get another game of its kind so I can bingewatch people play it.
(At the very very least, I still have ZombiU... which is basically the FPS offline version of this game without traps, rooms, masterminds, or upgrades... which makes it not as fun, but still love the obsessive-spamming of zombie-types).
Gotta tell you the truth: I played Resident Evil 3 Remake, but never bothered to play resistance let alone download it. I heard it was pretty forgettable.

You need to buy Resident Evil 3 Remake, but I personally wouldn't recommend it.
RE3R is a pretty bad game and Resistance is dead on PC, not to mention public queues are broken because of a known hacker.

Yes, RE: Resistance is bundled with RE3R, you will get both in your library when you buy the game.
The only way to play with other people is through Custom Games because the public queues are permanently broken, but finding Custom Lobbies can be quite hard if you don't join any Steam Groups.

I was wondering if you have any tips on ps4 about this game. I was thinking to ask a while ago but I saw that you dropped this game a while ago but seeing this video gave me some courage to ask.
I recently got this game on PS4 and I keep losing over and over. I used to play on pc and win most of the time but when I switch to PS4, I just seem to can't win. I just started out like less than a week so I don't have all the fancy equipment or cards that would benefit me that much.
When I play Annette I just get stunlocked.
When I play Daniel I just get the kashima-ed and they all run pass me.
Nicholai I just get my cam completely unusable for 60% of the match (plus my aim sucks)
Spencer I just don't have any tools that I can benefit from, I tried spacing out all my zombies but they still shotgun it.
Alex seems to be my best bet but I really don't find playing Alex very fun.
Basically, just started out the game on PS4, doesn't have any cards or equipment and I kept losing.
I'm unsure how PS4 works, you might be facing a lot of premades since those are the only players still playing & streaming Resistance.
I'm very rusty so I don't know if I can offer much so here's what comes to mind.
I wouldn't be surprised if everyone feels garbage with the exception of Alex and Spencer simply because creatures are horrible and always have been.
Annette is easily the worst Mastermind in the game, she doesn't have the energy to keep spamming creatures in the long run. Your best bet is micro-managing Birkin so you can hopefully catch them when they let their guard down.
If you really want to test their bullets then running the Defense skill variant might be a good idea along with HP equipment (not sure how good Beta Strain equipment really is, I've heard it's garbage).
Daniel is only slightly better, but extremely weak against Tyrone with the Kashima (Tyrone has the skill to use it almost indefinitely). I wouldn't recommend going one creature only because you're leaving yourself vulnerable. A decent build that could catch premades is the one bite build, I've also heard that Frenzy is the best first skill because it's the most consistent. For the second skill I can definitely recommend Invincible, you are completely invulnerable while getting up as a zombie which helps A LOT.
Mr. X is extremely vulnerable, go in expecting multiple flashbangs and maybe even dying because he's that weak, you can't drop and leave him like Birkin either so you need to make the best use out of him: waste their time as much as you can, if Survivors stay in the safe room then that's one whole minute they're losing.
Alex, well... you seem to know her meta build. Just use the Area 3 Mod and have fun winning the game.
Spencer has a plethora of builds, his meta being Terminal Spencer (not that fun though). You really want either Refract or Clone D-Field depending on your build.
Another decently meta build that isn't AS boring is abusing his invincibility anchor, good Survivors can hard counter it but you don't have much choice if you still want to have fun with the Mastermind.
The good thing is that you don't risk a lot by using D-Field, but the rewards can be massive if you use it correctly.
In terms of skills you mostly want to waste their time, that means lvl 3 doors unless you're running the EIS first skill.
Nicholai, well... let's be honest, playing creatures with him is garbage because he's meant to be guns only.
Not having equipment is a death sentence, unfortunately.
Again, you are most likely facing premades running meta builds so you wouldn't really have fun playing the game either way.
I personally don't see why I would need to play sweaty in a dead game but I guess I'm just different which is okay.

Consider the fact that it's been 3 years so again, I wouldn't be surprised if PS4 was full of premades because the game is *still* locked behind RE3 Remake and barely anyone knows about the game at all, as you can see from some of these comments I got.
A huge shame, Resistance deserved a lot more but Capcom didn't care.
@@gianturionEven I wasn't aware of RE Resistance until like 2 years later. I never bother to look into since everywhere just say don't bother. That is until I stumble upon one of your video. I really wish I get to play it during it's 'prime'.
Maybe if they release it as a separate game not locked behind RE3 and support it, it might be one successful game. But I don't think Capcom is gonna do that for another 10 years.
