First hip hop lyrics I memorized… new every word.. would even mimic the horns!!! Legendary!!! I love you hip hop!!! Salute Jungle brothers and the whole Tribal movement ✊🏾
If im not mistaken this was the very beginning of army fatigues..cargos..hats and all that. 2 years later and it was everywhere...even the girls were rocking it.
I just made a comment about this song last week. I’ve been listening to JBS non stop over the past week. I am 46 yr old white guy. Back in the late 80s and throughout the 90s I loved hip hop. I would cop or dub any tape I could. I had one JB album but for some reason didn’t listen to much. Not sure what albums I was killing at the time-I think it was Brand Nubian and KSolo in late 90/early 91,. This is an incredible track, Chris Lighty looked so happy. RIP
this song turns me into a lil kid all over again.. i miss those days this music was poppin.. ppl was more together than now where im from in still @...straight out the jungle
@HTMAJPW I feel ya. The Jungle Brothers have always been my favorite. What I adored about this group was that they never became consumed with this industry and their ever changing trends. To me the JB's represent pure MCing. Nothing else.
I'm pretty sure this was from his spot called N Sign Radio that was part of Night Network on the UK's Channel 4 back in the mid to late 80s. He used to play a mixture of (what was then) old school like Whodini and what was current at the time, which would be something like this vid. Respect to the mid 80s to early 90s Westwood.
KeepCalmAndKillZomb WRONG! N.W.A's Straight Outta Compton single came out in July 10, 1988, while the album came out in August 8, 1988. And Jungle Brother's Straight Out the Jungle came out in November 8, 1988. The Jungle Brother's 1988 debut album was perhaps a reference to N.W.A's.
"So I think, before I make I a move, make sure my rhyme goes along with the groove. Never backin' on a brotha when its time to rummble, my names Mike G and I'm straight out the jungle"
@buddah773 son HIP HOP aint dead, if it was dead you wouldnt see no comments or nobody listening to CLASSICS like this! we keep the shit inside of us, just because the radio doesnt play HIP HOP music anymore it doesnt mean that is dead, fuck the radio man. this is a cultural treasure
in the 80's they feared public enemy, in the 90's they forgot about ice t, and they turned it into a profit in the 21 century. true hip hop is true lyrical beauty
2024 never forget 💯

A lot of cats sample they words in the 90s, beat still hard too.
Raw and cutting. This set up other alternative, non conforming Hip Hop like De La Soul and Tribe.
i loved this joint@
I used to live in those flats where the vid was shot. Happy days, oh and a bad tune
Tim Westwood making a cheeky appearance at the end!
I'm pretty sure this was from his spot called N Sign Radio that was part of Night Network on the UK's Channel 4 back in the mid to late 80s.
