I have finally found videos that are beginner friendly that are super detailed. I’ll be making lots of projects I’m very excited to learn thank you for putting these together for us ☺️
Love this, new knitter(I've be crocheter for many years)just started about 3 months ago. But I have already made a lot of hats and two baby blankets. Love the shawl you're wearing.
Thank you so much for the clear direction, explanation and important TIP on using the stitch markers on how to successfully knit this shawl. if I was just reading it I would have given up on it. Love it AND your channel.
Thank you Marly your instructions are great always so clear. The shawl you are wearing is gorgeous, looking forward to you releasing the pattern. Cheers from South Australia.
I was just hoping for a new knitting video to be posted and then *POOF* the notification came up! It's RUclips magic! Thank you, Marly, for another helpful video!
I really like this pattern, which means I will be adding this shawl to my to-do next item. I have a thread yarn that I want to use for this shawl. Thank you!!!
Marly, you've done it to me again. Up pops this shawl video and now I don't know whether to start the Waterline shawl of one of the crochet shawls you have on another video. Maybe I should finish the baby blanket I'm currently working on then flip a coin for what to start next. LOL You're always three steps ahead of me. Keep them coming...
Hi Marly 🌞 Very Beautiful shawl ! I love watching your tutorials. You explain things and teach very well. Thank you for that. Even tho I'm still working on the first knit sweater KAL I think I'm going to start this project as well ... 😆 Being that I'm fairly new to knitting, I'm taking my time with the sweater. I'm proud of the way it's (the back) is coming out so far.😊 ... Now I have to get the It's a wrap sprinkles yarn for this shawl😒. Thanks again Marly. MAY God continue to bless you so that you can be a blessing to others 🙏
Hi Marly! What a beautiful shawl! And really quite simple yet it looks so fancy! Do you have any tips and tricks for the last bind off stitch that can sometimes be a little wonky? It’s probably fine in this pattern but sometimes it’s a real pain. I’ve seen some tricks but would greatly value your input. This will definitely be on my to do list but I’m still working on another scarf from one of your tutorials. It’s that old too many WIPS issue. Lol. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Marly! I really enjoy your videos! I’ve been knitting for almost 2 years now and I have learned so much from you - you are so clear and thorough! I have a question: I would love to make this shawl but the pattern has completely disappeared during the migration to Yarnspirations - is it available for purchase anywhere?
Marly, thank you for replying so quickly. Yes, that is what I’m reading also. But the set up clearly establishes row 1 (odd number) as “right side” and row 2 (even) as the wrong side. So, since the 3-10(even row) repeat ends on the wrong side, and the 4(even row)-5 repeat must begin on the same wrong side, how do I turn my work without increasing one stitch at the eyelet edge which would put my stitch count off by one?
That yarn is very subtle yet pretty. Love it. When are Red Heart Yarns going to sell in Australia? There are a few Aussie channels and it is very difficult getting any yarn type comparison, also cost of shipping to Australia is a killer.
Thank you Marly. I would love to see a yarn in the Amish style "lights and darks" or "brights and darks" ( I used to make quilts) so black with icy pastels or black with bright jewel tones. That would be really classy in this pattern.
I really love the shawl you are wearing during the video and the colors of it! Is there a pattern for it? Thank you for this tutorial! I normally crochet but slowly becoming a knitter and I'm really enjoying it, this tutorial was explained very well and I'm gonna try this one too but first i would love to make the one your wearing lol
I just substituted to your channel, I'm always looking for shawl patterns, that's how I find you. You explain very clear🌹 I have a doubt about the size of the needle...size 6 that you mentioned is an american size? Thank you for sharing with us! Graciela
We call it "Casting On & Casting Off" over here in the UK. It sounds so odd to hear you say "Bind Off" instead of "Cast Off" and to you it probably sounds just as weird lol. It is a lovely pattern though, I love these wavy edge patterns, my first attempt was the pattern that's name is disputed; It's either 'Feather & Fan' or 'Old Shale" depending upon who you ask. Do you have any advice on Casting Off in F&F to maintain the perfect wave of the stitches? I found that the traditional 'K1, pass 1st stitch over K1, PSO' (Or P1 etc., I can't remember which side of the scarf I finished on now) to the end of the row caused the 'Wave to flatten out and although it's easy enough to hide when wearing the scarf, I know it's there and it annoys the bits off me that it isn't perfect.
Hey, so I'm doing your Wedding Blanket CAL and I noticed that there's only 24 links (some not live yet) for the squares and the final link is for joining them and the border. Is that right or am I missing something?
@Marlybird , I have a question about the wave sections please. When doing the repeats in the wave section row 3 -8 do you also move or add a stitch marker after the first three stitches , k, yo, k and then knit the row 7 lace section starting at this new point in the work?
Well, I've started working on this pattern and having a heck of a time with the yarn. It's like knitting with a piece of sewing thread... Have ripped out and started over again and again. Will be starting over again this morning. LOL Think I'll have the yarn worn out before I ever get this shawl done. No matter what I'll keep at it until it is finished, it will NOT get the best of me. Wish me luck!
Selva, in the wave section 3 repeats of rows 3-8 does the lace work on row 7 move further along in the row or does it begin on stitch 4 after the k,yo,k at the beginning of the row please?
@@lizwindle8836 In wave section 3, one stitch is increased after the first K1 on each row 3 and 5 as well as row 7. That is, on row 7 you will K1, yo, K4 before you slip marker and continue with the lace. I hope this answers your question. Happy knitting!
@@selvaakinci4482 yes, thank you so much for your quick reply, I've just finished one repeat of rows 3-8 but it's wrong as I started the row 7 lace repeat later in the row than the 7th stitch!! A million thanks for your help!!
Oh no! I had saved this video to my library when I first viewed it. I finally have the yarn but now the pattern is gone! I am all set to get started on this. Where can I find the pattern please?
the Red Heart website was recently moved to Yarnspirations.com and is experiencing some hiccups. I recommend clearing your cache and cookies and giving it another try. In the meantime, I will let them know that this link is not working.
@@MarlyBird Hi Marly, I too am experiencing issues with finding the pattern at Yarnspirations. Sadly, I have started the shawl up to where your video ends. Can you advise as to when the shawl will be available on Yarnspirations? Thanks so much. Love, love your video. So very clear and precise!!
Marly, I’ve started this waterline shawl three times now, gotten to the third wave after the repeat of rows 3-10 and keep hitting the same snag. The knit rows are all even rows and the pattern stitches are all odd rows. So I have completed row 10, an even row and now must start the repeat of rows 4-5 from the setup section. My problem is, row 10was even and row 4 is even. That interrupts the k1, yo, k1 odd row. I have used row counters and pen/paper and still get to this point. Can you figure out where I am going wrong, please?
Here is what is written: Repeat Rows 3-10, 1 more time (3 waves total), then work Rows 4-5 from Setup section, 9 times, then work Row 4 once more - 57 sts (20 sts from the beginning of the row to the marker, 37 sts after the marker). What I would do is work through in the lace pattern 1 more time like written, then continue in the row 4 and 5 pattern (maintain the established pattern by skipping the first row 4) until you get 57 sts. It could be a problem with the pattern. I will send to Red Heart
