  • The transition period established under the LCLRA 2009, as extended by the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011, will end on 30 November 2021. In light of this upcoming deadline, this seminar considers the full range of issues relating to the law on the prescriptive acquisition of easements and profits including:
    The new legislative regime
Is it necessary to take action before 1 December 2021?
Problems with the Section 49A procedure
The future of statutory declarations as to long use
Extinguishment of easements and profits through non-use
Can the law be amended before the deadline?
This very special UCC School of Law webinar was held live on Wednesday 24 February 2021, chaired by the Hon. Ms. Justice Marie Baker and introduced by Professor Mark Poustie, Dean of the UCC School of Law, with speakers Deirdre Fox, Solicitor, member (and former Chair) of Law Society Conveyancing Committee, Professor John Mee from the UCC School of Law, who has written extensively in this area, and Peter Bland SC, author of 'Easements' (3rd edition, 2015).
