Doug Marcaida‘s design blades are always good! I love my 5.11 Talon folding Karambit. It is designed by Doug too. It is really similar and same design concept with this new Fox one.
This truly was edge ucation making this my favorite channel. Doug got into the history while Tomas played devil's advocate. Placing my order right now! And Doug thanks for all you have done in the past as a respiratory specialist!!!
This is awesome and I do not doubt its effectiveness. Just be prepared to defend yourself in court when that wicked looking thing is a piece of evidence before a jury of your peers.
The only problem i have with the Tribal K is the lenght. It is really hard to judge if it fits my XL Hand. I got the Bastinelli Blackbird (17cm overall/ 6,5 cm blade) and the Spartan Ronin Shoto (19,6cm/ 8,25cm blade) for size comparison. The Black Bird fits good but tight, 1,5cm less handle and its not safe to operate for me. The Tribal K supposedly has around 14,8cm overall, with a 7,7cm blade but is way more curved, which might be deceiving when it come to handle length.
My more everyday karambit is the quite large Fox 478 and my only for discussions with "bad guys" is the smaller lighter Fox/Derespina 590 with Snaggletooth. The blade angle on the 590 is also much better for reverse grip than the straighter (at least in my hand) 478. I'll be taking a closer look at this blade though, especially the blade to handle angle.
Excellent video 📹!!! As a retired LE, I'm big into EDC. I would like to see a video 📹 related to knives LE can carry and use. Tomas, your channel rocks 🪨 🎸!!!
Review the Spyderco Subway Bowie!!! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Its like youre deliberately ignoring one of the BEST and most PRACTICAL self defense/GTFO knives EVER!!!
I am guessing that Fox was getting tired of paying a premium to use the Emerson Wave. That extension looks like it could be more effective than the Wave. I like the Wave and also have used the 5×5 Combat Solutions Pickpocket. They both can make it difficult to remove the knife from my pocket without a snap open, fast deployment. When I am in public, I don't always want to whip out my knife like I am about to defend myself. The new style here looks like it would be easier to pull out without a fast deployment, and the option to open it on your body is a plus. I may get one just to try it out. The simplified design could be nice.
All you have to do to prevent it from opening while drawing is either 1. Twist the knife towards you and draw slowly so it doesnt catch on your pants or 2. The best way, hold the blade closed with your hand while drawing which also works in the case you want to use it as an impact weapon.
Just ordered the G10 variant. Metal handles get so cold in the winter over here and adds grams without function in my opinion. I wish you showed that variant as well since it seems to be pretty much zero reviews on that one. I really hoping it's the same proportions as that one with the same name and all so it's not a Keychain variant or something ^^
Glad to hear. Also would be interesting to know beforehand how tactile and stiff that locking bolt on top is. If it could come undone unintentionally with the wrong grip or if it demands a intentional force to move. I'm sure I will enjoy it regardless but that's just one of things that ran through my mind and that seemed impossible to research. I'm fairly confident all my Amazon packages will stand no chance regardless 🤣.@@tacticaltavern
You met Doug Marcaida and lived? Incredible! Seriously, this is more a sales ad on this knife and not Karambits in general. Comes across as a bit dishonest compared to your usual reviews. Over all Karambit's are cool and I wouldn't want to come up against one, but I think it is not for the beginner or for those who can't get training. Most people would feel more natural with a straight blade. Karambits require move body movements where as stabbing and swinging a knife comes more natural to most people who don't have a lot of martial art experience.
@@watevr4evri would say a 3 inch razor sharp tiger claw of steel is plenty effective even without training but training of course is ideal for any weapon.
@ThatGuy-sc5rx yeah ik just saying it seems to be the common point when a karambit is brought up, good with training. Nobody ever really says that about like a 4 inch straight knife or a hammer or bat. Maybe gun cause it's dependent on aim and isn't a melee. Seems to be mentioned as a shortcoming, which makes me wonder why even bother if nobody brings up whether or not it's better than any other knife WITH training included.
The reason I say it is that it is very natural for someone to hold a knife/stick/hammer, etc. and swing it around. Stabbing comes pretty natural too. However, with a reverse grip it is more like doing an up and scooping motion which comes less naturally. Rather than the weapon being out front with hand behind it, you get no extra reach and always have to lead with the hand. The hooking stab is less natural than a straight stab.@@watevr4evr

That was awesome, Doug is a legend can't wait to get one of these. 😎💥💪

I like that they call the thumb forward grip the "filipino grip"
I just got a dmax V from C Despins that they teamed up on. It's pretty hot as a fixed blade.

Definitely a must, I have a fox folding mako karambit from doug that have that bram wave feature.

I need to save up for one of these and the trainer. Great collab by the way!
Absolutely worth it!

Awesome
can you review wander tactical barracuda ???
So is it faster than a spring loaded knife ?
Yes!

Yes great point! The g-10 has the same proportions as the titanium one and is certainly more cost effective
I hope you enjoy your new karambit!

Tatical tavern taught Doug everything he knows!
Sounds like an inferior weapon if you need loads of extra training in order for it to be effective.

Solid Choice!!
$350 just buy a gun.😂
I see your point but sometimes there are restrictions and travel considerations
Automatic thumbs down...
