With the DJI Pocket 3, a comparison was made between the "Normal" and "D-Log" colour settings. In my opinion, the "Normal" colour offers a better dynamic range.
On top of a better color coming out of the normal mode, I observed high resolution and better detail when not using D LOG. Where are you also able to see better raw resolution in the normal mode?
Yes, the resolution in "Normal_mode" is better. But this is basically the case with all cameras. With D-LOG you should set the sharpness in the camera to +2.
@@karlpiet I'm not sure this is intended at all. D-LOG resolution with sharpness 0 should be identital to the resolution coming out of Normal mode in which sharpness is set to 0. In fact most creators will suggest setting sharpness to -2, which did not produce best results for me. I would however argue against using +2 definitely to avoid oversharpening artefacts. Could you please elaborate on your answer? I'm about to go on a very important trip and the decision I take for D-LOG and sharpness is going to affect all my footage for 3 weeks of filming. Thanks.
The +2 setting in D-LOG does not lead to any oversharpening artefacts for me. I would take a few test shots before travelling. If I'm filming in 4K, then I want to have a certain sharpness, otherwise I could just film in FullHD
First of all, sorry for butting into your conversation. This is not the first time I've seen that the normal color profile is superior to D-LOGM, in dynamic range and color in general. I imagine that it helps a lot that the normal profile is 10 bits, because you just have to remove a little contrast and BOOM. It's better than D-LOGM, which needs a little more editing to recover that punch that the normal profile has.
Amazing!!
Thanks!
