      +hash Z "Semi-relevant in short intervals" doesn't mean much. Sure, they beat up on Marino's Dolphins and made an AFCCG, but hell, they're a failed franchise ATM and have been since roughly 2008. I'd be surprised if they don't leave in the next decade. Regardless, both of these teams have been very unsuccessful in their current incarnations, at least since the time of this game in the Jags' case.

      +mcj88 Basically, the refs ignored a rule the NFL put in place and went back after Tim Couch spiked the ball, they said there was that malfunction, but how does that happen in an NFL setting? It was more like they screwed up and didn't want to admit that they did and just did whatever they wanted. Also, those bottles were not plastic like Ian Eagle mistakenly said here, they were glass. Someone also got hit the head with a portable radio and their head got split open. The fact is, you just don't mess with Cleveland sports fan, they have had enough heartbreak in all our history, that when something like this happens they get really mad because it feels as if those Refs did this purposely because they were covering their tails.

    • @davedicks5815
      @davedicks5815 6 лет назад

      +nick2s No. Them running the play is the significant thing.

    • @nick2s
      @nick2s 9 лет назад +2

      Not the case, the fact is that the play was ruled that the ball was not complete and indeed replay supports that finding. People only take issue with the fact that they think there shouldn't have been a review on the play. All they want is a non-catch that was improperly ruled a catch to stay incorrectly ruled a catch. But since it wasn't a catch, the important thing is that it is ruled not a catch, which it was changed to. That is the only significant thing

    • @rimrattler8

    After the ruled completed pass, the official failed to notice the booth challenge until after Cleveland ran another play to spike the ball, after which the said previous play could not be challenged. This is what caused Browns fans to practically riot.

    Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio and have been a diehard Browns fan since I was born. To watch these referees make horrible calls and ruin the integrity of football is just sickening and pathetic. They stand for their rules but they will break them and then uphold the rules right after. They are complete hypocrites and should be ashamed of themselves. Nothing will ever justify their actions that happened at bottlegate and these horrible calls are continuing in the year 2019, something has to be done about this they’re ruining the game of football.

    I’m a Vikings fan and I don’t blame the Browns fans one bit for their reactions. The Browns ran another play, even if you meant to review it before that, the fact is the players beat you to the punch. You can’t review a previous play. What the officials did was wrong. I felt bad for everyone involved though, I felt bad for the fans who felt cheated, I felt bad the officials who were trying to get out of harms way.
    I think things like this is why bad calls usually go in favor of the home team like the Tuck Rule, the Dez Bryant Catch,

    • @generalnutcase101
      @generalnutcase101 6 лет назад

      Was about to say the same thing too lol. At around the 5 min mark in the clip, they show the main ref (the one in the white cap) watching the play and then signalling an incomplete pass. I think to a lot of people, that's considered another play. If a play is needed to be stopped, like a timeout called or play is being reviewed, I thought the refs usually just try to blow the whistle and wave their arms, even if a play begins (to call the play dead) to stop play and announce whats going on (timeout/review/etc). Here it seemed like the "spiked the ball to stop the clock" play was ran and not blown dead, then after the play was ran, "oh wait" we had a malfunction, the play 2 plays ago is being reviewed, even thought to most, if not all, had/have the understanding that........that can't happen........another play was ran, so.......that shouldn't happen

    I cringed when I heard Brent Jones's voice again. I despised him as an analyst. He and Randy Cross were (and still are) the bottom of the barrel to me. Fox has had its fair share of crap, but I root for an AFC team and therefore had to deal with those two neanderthals for years.

      Sorry, but I'm 100% positive it's Brent. Randy's voice is deeper and has more of a drawl. I had to deal with these two turds for season after season. Their voices are etched into my head like festering sores. Each of them has a video on RUclips of them speaking for reference. Amazingly Randy is still an analyst for college games on CBS Sports Network. But thankfully for me he only calls games I never have any vested interest in. BTW I see you're in Japan. I lived there for awhile and will likely return at some point. It felt kinda odd for nearly every week to be Monday Night Football (I'd download the game after returning home from work).

    • @searinggaspainland

      I'm no Aikman fan, but he doesn't agitate me the way Brent and Randy did. Their piousness was insufferable. But I can generally avoid Aikman's broadcasts. If I rooted for a NFC team and was stuck with Fox most of the time, my opinion would likely be different.

    I remember this game, Refs tried to come up with the "Uuh my buzzer wasn't vibrating properly and/or the replay booth had a malfunction and every excuse they can about something not working.
    The NFL rule states: That a play ran before the refs can stop it officially, is considered a played down and the previous down play cannot be reviewed under no circumstances. Unless the ref is stopping it right after the qb snapped it and blew it dead, there's no going back and no Buzzered or Booth can determine that. One of the worst calls in NFL History, because they bent or broke a rule, that cost a team a chance to win. I hope all of them refs got pelted with bottles for that call.

    For those of you who are wondering who that commentator was that was teamed with Gus Johnson for this broadcast. That was non other than Brent Jones, former 49er TE. He was later reprimanded by CBS for those comments and using the word "crap" on live TV. He did manage to learn from his mistake and worked with the network until 2005 when he left on his own terms. But he does have some west coast bias in him though.

    Love seeing the crooked refs ducking from bottles being thrown at them. They deserve worse.

    someone should lobbed a beer at the commentator booth to run those jokers off the field too.

    The most horseshit call I've ever seen in the NFL. The refs pretty much just made up their own rules here.

      Terry Mcauley is a super bowl worthy ref. he has reffed numerous playoff games and Head reffed Super Bowl 43. He did a good job, and as a Steeler fan who has seen many horrible calls against us, that was a logical and safe call. Browns fans should have controlled themselves.

      That's horse shit. I'm a steelers fan as well, and it's fucking obvious that the browns got completely fucked over by shit refs.

      Sean, quit using the refs as an excuse for losing. Dont get me wrong, I am very empathetic to the browns, but if you cant score more than 13 points in a game against one of the worst defenses in football, then you dont deserve to win.

      my point is, score more points and this never happens.

      Alex Fullmer score more points? how the fuck are they supposed to do that when they get down to the 10 yd line when the refs suddenly just say fuck you browns and force a turnover on downs. It's kind of score when whenever you get in position to score you get fucked!

    That moment when Butch Davis probably realized leaving the 'Canes for the Browns was a big mistake

    As a jags fan I felt terrible for Cleveland. We didn't deserve to win and Cleveland didn't deserve that.
