This is a good example of great storytelling. There is little movement but the narration is spot on, and the music heightens the experience. It grabs your attention and asks you to buckle up for the nightmarish ride. Perfect.

Mr Grimm(vietnam vet) and Crazy 8(boxer guy) were always my favorite stories to watch as a teen. The opera music reminded me of ole cs_italy hostage area lulz.
I can't believe they cut out all of these cut-scenes in the UK version, along with the entire plot of the game! This is the only game I ever imported from the U.S, and I think you can see why.
41:58 this is why all of the cutscenes were banned in UK it doesn't seem overly graphic, but showing this to potentially a young audience gives the media a chance to say "a shocking game called Black Twisted Metal teaches kids to cut at their wrists" haha they wouldn't even get the name of the game right I bet
Funny, when you stop and think about it, despite the uber grim and gritty attitude of this game, this is one of the few where Calypso actually GRANTED most of the wishes. The only ones that backfired horribly involved trying to change the past or to the characters that wanted to prevent bloodshed. Even Sweet tooth who usually gets completely screwed over actually got his wish, it just came with a catch he wasn't willing to play ball with.
I liked these stories, some of the characters are connected which makes it pretty cool, for example, Outlaw's story, Calypso was the one who shot him, that's why Calypso asked him if he wanted a second chance, and if he understood the risks, Outlaw was caught up in the 2nd chance, didn't even recognize him.

My uncle (R.I.P) showed me this game when I was 6 and I remember Sweet Tooth freaked me tf out. Then after watching him play for a bit I asked if I could try and I'd always pick sweet tooth cuz I loved how he'd transform lmao
Axel blames himself for his wife's death and actively punishes himself for it. His vehicle he specifically made to carry out that punishment. He made it so that his bare feet were drug along the ground as it moved, inflicting immense pain on himself. The pain he felt eased his guilt.

He didn't get locked up for being a hero. He got committed to a nuthouse for amnesia. They weren't trying to punish him. They were trying to make him remember. Or at least pretending like they were trying to make him remember.

That alone would not get you thrown into an aslyum, more is revealed about him in his file from the asylum which is shown during the character select screen. He also suffers from enraged confusion and uncontrollable rage. Says to use caution when approaching him. You see a hint of that when he tells Calypso to get lost before he breaks his neck.
Bruh, this game is PERFECT if you’re looking for something dark, and exciting. I remember this game creeped me out but I LOVED it. Imagine if they remade this with all the crazy graphics now?? Would be INCREDIBLE

The crazy girl driving the funeral car got stuck there due to her friends death. So her folks (typical) stuck her in there. As for crazy 8, his senses heighten tremendously from the lose of sight and taste.
It should have been apparent in the first few seconds of her first cutscene. Her carving her friend's name into her arm with a knife or some other sharp object. That in of shows itself should she truly is nuts.

Mr Grim and Preacher were my favorite characters to play as and had probably the most compelling stories. It’d be insane if they remastered this game or went ahead with a complete version of the Harbor City sequel. Plus the new realistic graphics you’d have for the cutscenes would definitely make it a headspin for the ESRB
I wish Calypso was an unlockable charector . Wonder what his story would be and his vehicle of choice especially with the way he looks in this game . And I wish Black and Minion and couple others had cutscenes . Either a remake from the ground up with extra stuff added or a Black 2 with extra charectors from the old games and added new charectors and cutscenes for charecters and maybe even new cut levels and vehicles/charectors that were never added to this game or others. That would be one of my favourite dream remakes of all time or new game ideas.
I think there is more to the preacher then meets the eye. I do think Calypso himself took hold of the preacher and forced him to do what he did. Its hinted that Calypso was the devil himself. The main reason being that when the Preacher met Sweet Tooth he called for a curse to be placed on him and god answered by setting his head ablaze, if he wasn't a try and true preacher god would not have answered. The second reason being that he suffered from no other violent outbursts since that day in the church and spent the rest of his life atoning and trying to make amends with god. Thirdly I doubt the preacher could have wiped out the entire congregation on his own without some sort of enhanced strength and endurance thats beyond normal human limits. He was an old man after all. It is a known tell tale sign of a possession that the victim's strength is greatly enhanced beyond normal limits. I think its Calypso's hatred for those of the cloth that motivated him to posses the Preacher and made him do those killings.

not only is the gameplay superb, but the cutscenes are fantastic! You only get to see them by playing and winning, which is a major incentive to win. i'm a fan of horror films (i'm a fan of every genre of film, really) and these short stories are pretty cool as a horror fan.
A parody for "Paint it Black" Their is a game out their called Twisted Metal Black, It's for the PlayStation 2 so you better watch your back, I seen the graphics, and they realy blew me away, Like that PlayStation baby it just happens, every day!
It is simple. Since he lost his eyes and tongue and mostly his nose, his senses of smell and awareness have become so strong that well eye sight is not needed. Plus, he is the only character that has super hearing.
This is one example of a Shadow the Hedgehog style edgefest that actually works because it makes sense. Even if you take away the idea that this is Needles Kane's fantasy, Twisted Metal is a very violent series. And while the series also has a dark sense of humor, making the backstories more realistic provides a natural change to the norm. And the atmosphere in this is fantastic, especially in the town level.
This was my first ps2 game as a kid. I've spend days, hours, weeks, months on it. Now I'm 22 (so it will be around 13 years later i'm guessing) Still loving the game. After watching this movie i actually called my lokal gamestore and they had one on stock in the used section. BOUGHT IT !!!

TM:black is one of the best of the franchise the endings are so dark and the game play was pretty awesome wish they just continued these story lines

I don't even know how I just managed to watched all those without going insane myself, but this was my favorite game for the ps2 and still might be.

When Goin under played during Junkyard dog’s story I thought of Fallout New Vegas.

This was my first ps2 game as a kid. I've spend days, hours, weeks, months on it. Now I'm 22 (so it will be around 13 years later i'm guessing) Still loving the game. After watching this movie i actually called my lokal gamestore and they had one on stock in the used section. BOUGHT IT !!!
