isn't the first spell on the first slot better if you use that helmet? it spams way faster

I like using the third one because in the fights that I usually take I have ~200 less IP than my opponent, and just relying on Q 1 to do enough damage isn't enough, so I have to kite with Q 3. Plus I find Q 3 way more fun to play :)
