The key to all the early season encounters, including this buck, was hunting the transition areas between the timber and the river bottoms. Specifically the timber that had white oaks that were dropping acorns close to the river bottoms where the deer where bedding.

Just watched your backpack video and you may have already tried one out but I got the micro talon triple arm from Fourth Arrow. I know it's not cheap but IMO it's worth every penny especially when hunting from the saddle. Love the channel!
@@DixielandBowhunter I haven't actually. I might look into it though because the arm setup i have is the biggest and heaviest thing I haul into the woods.

Man dude, looks like a blast. I live quite a bit further north than you but my wife drew a bear tag for zone 3 and Im looking forward to doing some late october bowhunting in the ozarks while she bear hunts!!
