a 5 minute walk through the old stonehouse pub weoley castle a day before the demolition starts a long way from its former glory ...another one bites the dust
Grew up around here, remember the whippet racing on a Sunday morning as a kid. Got older and many mad pissed up nights in the Stonehouse before staggering home. Sad to see what it is like and now a pile of rubble seems to be so popular with UK pubs. Wonder what it will be when I come back to UK - more houses no doubt! Happy memories of the times gone by though!
Had my first pint as alad in the "Stonehouse", mate brought me a pint of Ansells best mild out to the car park as I was only 14. The year was 1961, a great turning point in a boys life , his first pint, also drank at the Raven, California, Castle. Lived in both Bartley green and Weoley Castle. Paul Stacey.
It was a great place for acid trips then. When it had the Victoria Street theme, with all the original shop fronts from the demolition that was going on, that the land lord had installed, beautiful
End of an era, the ghosts of the past still blowing around California and Barnes Hill. The California, another local pub long gone, now the site of petrol station.
I live in weoley castle but 1 question is this in Birmingham cuz if it is I'm telling my mom "forget school I know I don't wanna leave now but we're out of here!"
well its ashame as i have quite a few gud memos off the time i spent pissed up in the old place met a few gud people too oh well the only way is up but wot are the building there

Why would you demolish a beautiful building like that?
Why not just make it into flash o r some thing?
Seems such a waste!
