I am not sure why they want to abandon the Impact name but I think the new logo is about as nice looking as it could be, given the image the team wants to shift to
Yeah I’m not sure why they wanted to shift away from the name, but it definitely seems like a good compromise with the fans to retain some of the design elements of the older badges!
Because team names are ridiculous from a football point of view. The name of a team is : city, borough, workplace etc. Not gonna lie, MLS will be laughed at for as long as their teams will be named ''Union'' or ''Whitecaps''. There is a good reason why a lot of teams are now using more European naming conventions, because it makes the team look professional. For football fans, American sports are a bit goofy. Uniforms and team names are a bit Avengers like, which is a bit much for most of us. I don't think there is anything wrong with that style, it just does not go well with the world of football.
I actually like the new badge. It's quite beautiful. With that said, I also share similar sentiments expressed by others that I wish the club would keep Impact in one way or another.
If Montreal are interested in a blue color scheme and fleur de lis being used by a logo I recommend checking out SV Darmstadt in the second German league
What is up with MLS teams wanting to get rid of original and unique names? I am Charlotte FC fan, and the name is awful. I have no idea what idiot chose that over Charlotte monarchs FC, or some of the other ones that were being considered.
Exactly. What I like about American Sports is the variety in team names and identities (although we do have several "rangers", "kings" ...lol). I don't want every team to be named (insert city name) FC.
I'd like the new name better if they added "BALL" to "FOOT". The game has never been called "foot" in Quèbec. That's more of a thing in France. (I'm sure that was Thierry Henry's influence there) It's always been called "soccer" or "football" here. So the name should be Club de Football Montréal. 🔵⚫⚜️
And that's the issue I have. The MLS is way too passive on changes when someone big in the soccer/football world suggests just because they're a big name.
@@295g295 Not Really. At the very minimum, if we're strictly talking about sports, Québec is very much influenced by the rest of Canada and the US. Hockey is a religion Football is called soccer in both english and french.
The owner said Impact could still be used as the nickname for the club. The new logo is way better than the snowflake/cat's anus logo. They almost killed the club with the rebrand. Good thing that the president and the director of marketing from 2021 are no longer with the club.
They just can’t get it right. The Impact name and logo used from 2012-2020 was pretty solid, then they just had to go and ruin everything. Whatever, Montreal. I’m sure this one will last you another good two or three years before you decide on another change.
Same I think impact with snowflake badge would be my favorite situation (if my preference for the logo of a team thousands of miles away meant anything lol)
"We heard them loud and clear..." and yet they kept the name "CF Montréal" smh The team's name was the Impact for nearly 3 decades and they decided to rebrand to something so generic... And no one in Quebec calls it "Foot" 😅
I'm sure they also got a call from the mayor's office of the city of Bloomington Indiana lolll recyclenation.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Bloomington-Indiana-recycling.jpg

@@LeDardeursPalace I think the MLS should not have two teams named UNITED.
@@LeDardeursPalace What makes “Union” or “Whitecaps” any less acceptable than “Rovers”, “Wanderers”, or “Rangers”?

I like this new badge. The fleur-de-lis is the one symbol that is always synonymous with the city of Montréal and province of Québéc.
Yeah something about it definitely feels like the impacts old logo in a good way!
Just perfect.

Yeah I’m pretty sure I had a quote from somewhere of Thierry Henry saying something about the name and it seemed like it was likely influenced by him!

I thought Quèbec emulates France.

hadn't hear the 'cat's anus' before 🤣

Yeah I miss the name especially!
0:20 - The soccer team name IMPACT reminds me of a team that played the inside-game in Hershey Penna. about 30 years ago.
I think I’ve had someone else bring that up before as well!
I honestly prefer the snowflake badge. That being said they'll always be the Impact in my heart

I thought the name was the problem not the logo? I rather liked the snowflake, felt very classy
Yeah i didn't realize the logo was going to change again either!
Keep up the good work love your videos 😊
Thanks for checking it out!
I saw the thumbnail and I thought they changed the logo to the coa
Honestly they should have change back the impact logo and the impact name I think if they did that only it would work easily
Impact was great!
Exactly they almost won the ccl I think 2015

Everyone in Quebec calls it foot…

C'est de la merde ce logo, et Joey Saputo n'aurai jamais du changer le nom pour CF Montréal. Je souhaite que l'équipe se nomme L'Impact à nouveau!
Same! I love the name impact! Thanks for watching!
I live in Montréal and go to those games, you did this video very well 👍
Thanks so much! And thanks for watching!

I got you!
Could have brought back the name Impact as well
My guess is that most people that wanted a change would have been expecting the name!
it looks outdated kind 1990ish
It definitely feels a bit closer to the OG MLS logos!
The name Impact just screams 90s. Impact, Extreme, Blaze. This silly fad in team names cooled off quickly, thankfully.
Again ??
Yeah! I wasn't expecting it! It caught me off guard!
Looks a bit too much like a cartoon tbh, but the other one wasn't very good either
Thanks for checking out the video!
Hi
Thanks for checking out the video!
What plastic logo for a plastic team in a plastic league.
What a boring comment from a boring commenter.
cry about it more.
I think the existence of the MLS triggers you more than even your own soccer/football rivalries in your own country. What a said person you are.
I'm sure they also got a call from the mayor's office of the city of Bloomington Indiana lolll
